Aslm. As a SAfrican our foreign Minister Dr Ndledi Pandor is Muslim by conversion. She heads up the genocide case in SA at the ICJ.
It is both as a sister Muslim and the Apartheid experience thats propelled her into taking action, but as a human being alone, its easy to see why.

There is a fundamental question here that transcends "choosing a side". At its core, the individual needs to ask themselves how they come to their view of justice and goodness. Picking a side does Not produce a value. Holding a value is what helps us determine our alignment in our society.

    • @env0x

i think the issue is a lot more simple and more dumb than that. most people in the west who have never heard the word "zionism" before this year will say things like "israel has a right to defend itself" just because they've been indoctrinated through years of highschool ww2 studies to have the holocaust as their most historically relevant reference of human genocide in their vernacular. they're not taught about any other genocides from the past 100 years. so, whenever an american or european thinks "genocide", they automatically think the holocaust, and automatically want to support jews thinking they're being anti-genocide. so the problem is mainly the education system. but it's built that way for a reason, governments don't want people knowing the full parts of history, just enough to make you believe it is..

Mandela mixed up some things and apparently ignored others. Mohammed and Allah clearly state in the Islamic scriptures that "this is the land of the children of Israel", in the Torah Israel is none other than Jacob the son of Isaac. To this day, Arab Muslims believe that they descend from Ishmael (Isaac's (half) brother), but he fathered a son named Kedar and settled in the place named after him on the threshold of the land we now call Arabia. If Mohammed said back then that the land that is now called Israel was the land of the children (descendants) of Israel, then who else legally owns this land? Of course, the "Israelites" (which includes the descendants of Judas), and not the descendants of Ishmael. Not only the Torah says this but also the Quran and the Sunnah of the Prophet Mohammed

I agree with everything he said. The Palestinians are oppressed and persecuted. But he didn’t mention why Israel has been doing this all along. The reason is that on the day of its establishment in 1948 the Arab states declared war and invaded Israel. This is the heart of the issue, if the Palestinians and Arabs had accepted Israel from the beginning, there would have never been a conflict. As long as Palestinians resist through fighting rather than diplomacy, there will never be peace.

There is no justification for the beastly acts of 7/10.

Once upon a time, Christians acted towards the Holy Land in a similar way as Muslims and Jews do now. The results of that were the Crusades. And while the Holy Land is important to Christians as a site of pilgrimage, the teachings of Jesus trump any holy-land-grab.
However, if I had to side with anyone, I would side with the Jews. Muslims have 53+ Islamic theocracy lands, some of which neither Christians nor Jews are allowed to even visit. The Jews have only one. Christians, like Jews, are accustomed to being good citizens wherever GOD puts us.
In Mark 12, Jesus taught that some men came to Jesus and asked, *"Is it right to pay the imperial tax to Caesar or not? Should we pay or shouldn’t we?” But Jesus knew their hypocrisy. “Why are you trying to trap Me?” He asked. “Bring me a denarius and let me look at it.” They brought the coin, and He asked them, “Whose image is this? And whose inscription?”*
      *“Caesar’s,” they replied.*
*Then Jesus said to them, “Give back to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.”*
*And they were amazed at Him."*

It would have been interesting to hear you address the reasons why the oppression and suffering of fellow Muslims in Palestine is such a central concern to the global Muslim community, while the concern for Muslims suffering under brutal regimes elsewhere-China, Azerbaijan, India, Syria, Sri Lanka, Yemen, Sudan-bleaks in comparison. Certainly, the Jewishness of the perceived oppressor of Palestine has theological implications. Perhaps in a future episode you should address whether the very existence of a Jewish state in Palestine is conceivable or not within the parameters of Islamic theology.

And LOST every time. Losing wars you start usually means your side loses life, liberty and land.
There is an incompatibility here that will only be reconciled in the future: the narrative of modern times to come is given in Ezekiel 36-39. And the End result in Zechariah 12-14.

The hadith Dr. Ally discusses at 1:37 is perfectly to the point on something I have been thinking about recently: People or countries who say they are "supporting Israel" are too often being enablers, rather than real friends. A real friend will call their friend out on their wrong words and deeds. They will do what they can to stop them from causing more harm. One might say, "friends don't let friends commit genocidal acts."

Gaza is 1/2 the size of Bahrain , has 40 km of the same beautiful coastline as Israel, Egypt, Lebanon and Syria. Gaza also has a fully independant border with Egypt ( Largest Muslim Arab state by way of population and second largest by way of land area). Billions of dollars of aid have flowed into Gaza which was used to create an underground city stocked with weapons to fire against Israel. Gaza should have either become and emirate of the entire population granted citizenship in the 22 Muslim Arab states that occupy 99.98% of Middle East.

In 1967, while the IDF army was marching on the foothills of the occupied Palestine-West Bank, they heard a lone Palestinian voice over the hill: "One Palestinian with a slingshot is better than 10 IDF soldiers!" IDF General Avraham Yoffe laughs as he sends 10 men on the hill to capture it. There is gunfire for a minute or so, and then everything goes silent, but they hear the same faint voice: "One Palestinian is better than a hundred of yours!". Annoyed, the IDDF General sends a hundred men to capture that hill. There is intense gunfire and bombs going off for around ten minutes, and then everything goes absolutely silent again. Suddenly, that same voice yelled out again: "One Palestinian is better than a thousand of yours!" Enraged and infuriated, General Yoffe sends a thousand men, accompanied by tanks, artillery, and mortar teams, and strictly orders them not to return until the hill is captured. For around half an hour, all hell breaks loose: bombs, explosions, gunfire, shelling, and screams of death all around and every corner, and then it goes silent again. One IDDF soldier crawls back, severely wounded, brusied, and battered, and before the general could say anything, the soldier says, "Do not send more troops, General; it's a trap! There's two of them in there.".

Both Muslims and Jews are obsessed with owning the dirt of the Holy Land which God Alone owns. In the midst of war, do you think either side thinks about Who really owns the land?
    I doubt it.
Every day I pray that Father God comes alongside both Muslims and Jews and introduces His Son Jesus to every soldier, politician, Rabbi and Imam.
I look to Scripture for the answer.
    Jesus taught, in Matthew 5:38-48:
*“You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’ But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well. If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you.*
*“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in Heaven. He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love only those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? Be perfect, therefore, as your Heavenly Father is Perfect.*

Praise be to Allah, I am also a Muslim, but in the light of verse number 21 of Surah Al-Maidah, I consider the Holy Land to be the land of Bani Israel because it is written in the mentioned Surah. Instead of striving to create a separate Muslim state in Gaza and the West Bank, Palestinian should accept the existence of the state of Israel and they should live peacefully as its citizens. Palestinian Muslims can either become peaceful citizens there or return to Arab lands. They should not contribute to Iran's proxy war in the region. The concept of migration (Hijra) exists in Islam, and following the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him), Palestinians should consider migrating towards Arab lands.

With all my respect I think it is more complicated than that. First I think you should recognize muslims are probably more engaged against Israel because people of Gaza are muslims for the great part. Maybe bad things are happening in other part of the world but because they are not Muslims, Muslims are less engaged about those problems. It doesn’t mean that it’s not good supporting people of Gaza but we should be aware about that fact. Secondly, as a Catholic Christian, that was a time agnostic, I was against Israel back then, but after my conversion I saw things differently. Now I can understand a bit more Israel. If we follow the Bible, we see that God gave them the land of Israel. So it could be that it is still legitimate that they ought to live there and not Muslims or even Christians. I could be wrong about this and still trying to discern what is God will regarding that. It’s even possible that prophecies of the Bible that seem to speak about the return of the jews is taking place since 1947. Also again if we take Genesis 12:3 « I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” » and if we take the fact that according to Jews and Christians, Isaac is the legitimate son for the promise of the Covenant and not Ishmael, then maybe we should bless Israel and not curse Israel. Finally, as a Christian I must follow Jesus Who says to bless our enemies so maybe I should not take part of any sides and be against all injustice (either made by Israel or Palestine) but I think those points needed to be said as to understand also the other side. God bless you all and may He bring us all to Him.

Egypt also must close the gate to keep the Gazans in this open air prison. So if it is truly an open air prison than Egypt is equally to blame. In fact, Most of the Gazans who have died in the current war could have easily been saved if Egypt would have opened the gate for women and children and formed a temporary camp for them.
