Yes very nice Helmet Kevin. But We must insist you edit the video and Wear the Helmet on your head. Ok that way we can all see you wearing it with a smile on your face.
@@superfuzzymomma the US used their helmet liners in ceremonies. Liners were much lighter and could be decorated with insignias and such. Never knew why other countries didn't follow.
I've never been able to understand why those leather liner chin straps were so thin and poorly made.....maddening to collectors. (Yes, I realize that these were not manufactured with collectors in mind!) I have a really good example too. Any explanation as to why the rings that hold the main chin strap on my helmet are fixed? They are not the swivel type. Great video Ken!!!
@@stevemartin6144 the fixed bale were the first ones in production. They are the most ones that collectors desire. Check out the book called Helmets of the ETO.

Id love to know the reasoning behind the US M1 helmet and its seperate liner shell as opposed to, say, the Stallhelm or other European liner systems.

@@stevemartin6144 thank you. Those leather chin straps were only made to last to get through the war. It sounds like your helmet is a fixed bale.
