8:48 Those hinges are typical of Scandinavian M1 helmets. The shells for Scandinavian M1s were made in Germany or Austria, the liners in Denmark and the hinges locally in Norway and Denmark.

"DLA" marked items are post Vietnam War. I believe that changed from "DSA" to "DLA" in 1975. "DLA" means Defense Logistic Agency.

the Belgian m1 clone's are marked with 'ABL' and a production date,
they are heatstamped inside the liner and stamped with red ink inside the shell,
or atleast the ones i have are.
A = armée (French for army)
B = Belge (French for Belgian) or Belgisch (Dutch for Belgian)
L = leger (Dutch for army)

Hi Pete, thank you for comment and great a question to, ok if your Helmet is a U.S M1 McCord helmet WW2 it should have numbers with a Letter next to it. I never seen a 12/3A, please look again to see if that / is a number or a scratch, if its 123A then its a early 1942 helmet or if its 1213A then its a late 1944/45. Click on my facebook helmet link send me a photos so i can look, Cheers bud

Hi very intreasting magnetic Helmets. I trying to find the manufacturer of these helmets. Whenever a magnetic helmet pops up, its ofren assumed its a danish m/48 helmet made by Glud & Marstrand. The thing is they never made any M1 helmets! The Danish army and civil defence do have(had) these magnetic helmets. In late 1951 army technicians travelled to Hong Kong to look at m1 helmets already in stock there, with the intention of buying 50000 of these as well as another 60000 for the civil defence. Eventual the deal was done, and these helmets was introduced in the civil defence as the m/52 helmet. The army already having the m/48 (original ww2 us m1 helmets, brought in December 49 from us stocks in Germany), they simply put them in as another batch of m/48.
The difference between the army and civil defence are the bales as well as about 100g in weight and the color. The civil defence helmets has us style bales and a serial number stamped inside the rim ( done by the Danish), while the army version has no number and another bale style. But what they have in common (other then being fully magnificent) is how the rim is joint in the rear. The overlap, by up to a cm. never seen that on any other m1 clone helmet. Wonder if this is the case too with your helmets, and that they might be the same manufacture. Very easy seen on the inside.

Hi Lasse very Interesting reading your comment, these Magnetic helmets were from the Thai Army, but I wonder where they got them from, they are very heavy and have like a red primer underneath the paint and no heat stamp number, I was wondering did the Thais make the helmets , maybe the Americans made a helmet making machine here in Thailand lol, thank you so much for Watching and Comment and stay safe and connected
