Great Video, thank you so much! I read Gilles Delezue's essay and sat through a 2 hour lecture about the topic of Deleuze's societies of control and was totally confused about the topic at the end. Watched your 3 minute video and I GET IT NOW! Just brilliantly explained . Please keep producing these video they are pure gold for any student struggling to understand control and technology.
This is extraordinarily well done. Thank you for taking the time and effort to extrapolate a complex argument into a very cogent three minutes. Brother Ali, in his song “Uncle Sam Goddamn” put it thusly: Custom made To consume the noose Keep saying we're free But we're all just loose
In other words, the more free and nonlinear a society’s structure is, the more subtle and insidious are it’s shaping forces. Really should be called Societies of Uncertainty/Anxiety. Or does the society itself do the controlling, not a central state?
Do you know where I can find any published material on smartphones as an embedded technology of social control? Or more general reading that will point me in that direction? I really want to explore this in relation to use of space and everyday relations in cities. Thanks for your video, it was really helpful and easy to understand!
not sure if you're still working on this but i just finished an undergraduate thesis paper about this topic. i can send it over to if you want to view my sources/ see my overall structure and connection. great concept but extremely difficult to cultivate logistically and there are very little literary reviews to go off of.
Great Video, thank you so much!
