Not all design software nowadays may refer it to that in their menus or even in the old days, but I think the term was used by designers because the tools function in a Boolean logic way, AND/OR, NOT/AND etc. So generally if someone is referring to Boolean operations in their design software, that is what they mean. PowerPoint has come a long way since I stopped using it long ago. @@Productive_Tech

You forgot about presenter mode, it's really helpful when you have notes for each slide and you don't want to use another device just for looking up your notes.

Yeah, those merge, union combine, etc buttons are called Boolean operations in the design field.
