I do find it funny that the hangyu situation changed so fast. When palworld was assumed to have made theirs second, it was stolen, but when it was proved that palworld had the design first, suddenly it was "just a big coincidence" instead of actually reversing the accusations and saying they stole from palworld...
But if that old trailer didn't have the design there for 3 seconds, people would never believe palworld that it was "just a coincidence"
was the other person making money from the design or something? Don't know if anyone needs to bandwagon and accuse them of much but you can pop off if you want
Copying is copying regardless if it makes cash right? That's what this situation is about. They was super fast to throw out the accusations, but then when they were proven to be second, it was an instant shift to "it's a coincidence". If it's an issue one way, why is it not an issue the other way? That's all I'm asking...
I feel like many people have already deemed it "a ripoff" despite its unique combination of mechanics. I haven't seen all the Pals and there are definitely some that look VERY much like pokemon, but I think that in general it's hard to make a creature collector that is not at least slightly inspired by pokemon.
There are other issues with the creators, but the copyright isn't a big deal to me here.
Pokemon copies itself all the time. Can you name all the bird pokemon that wield a plant as a weapon? There's a few.
The fact is, chibi monsters have been done. There's only so many directions to go, whether it's Pokemon struggling to design #900-1000 or some other developer.

The Hangyu fakemon turned out to be made 2 years after the Palworld pal, so thats a call the cops in reverse.

Mixing legality with a chart for preference is hilarious. Imagine your lawyer being like " your honor, my client may have killed his mother... but honestly look at this dudes fit! It is straight up on point, I think we can lower the sentence.
Reminds me of a conversation I had with some friends about Joseph Stalin and how is eternal punishment would be reduced because he had a FANTASTIC mustache
Yeah, that mix made this video really weird but honestly also pretty entertaining
Eikthyrdeer and Xerneas are both based on a specific deer in Norse mythology. It just looks like that.
Yeah i play valheim and the deer boss wich is also base off Eithyr look exactly like this it just the design of the Eithyr in general
Same with Fengelope and Cobalion, they are based on the same mythological figure
I think Chillet not being S tier is the biggest offense here.
I ride my noodle buddy everywhere and he always has cute calls. This is such sacrilege to have him less than S
All we are is given to Chillet.
Almost lost my subscription because of this blunder! 😜
He isn't just adorable, he's also the only pal that gives you a dragon type attack.

@@Zackreaver Though I share your love of Chillet. It isn’t the only pal to give you Dragon attack damage. So does Quivern
Many designs for pokémon and Palworld creatures are just normal animal with one weird trait and anime eyes.
To be fair, that is Pokemon's design philosophy. "Animal + Fantastical Feature + Some Humanization = Pokemon" is basically Game Freak's bread and butter. And it works. It makes the designs simple but identifiable. I think that's why people dislike the heavier human elements on things like the starters or the over complexities of the Ultra Beasts. Those designs are not bad, but they don't feel like Pokemon.
@crowqueenamps sure myb, but you can't cancel something bc it feels weird or like something else... people these days became so easily offended and i think pokemon staff knows that ass well (okey besides the obvious rip-offs)
@@Luka-qp7uc
Oh, trust me that when the discourse first came up I let out an audible groan. While I personally don't care for Palworld (I never got into Ark or similar games), I also can't call it a rip-off for the most part. Do I wish the creature designs were a little more creative? Yes. But the gameplay is fundamentally different from Pokemon other than creature capture mechanics...which is a genre. Creature capturing is a genre, not something Game Freak owns.
@@crowqueenamps totally agree
@crowqueenamps most Pokémon as of recent don't feel like Pokémon because they ignore one of the two design principles of Pokémon, being that they should be simple enough to be recognizable if drawn by a three year old, most of the recent Pokémon have designs that would be hard for anyone to draw because of the unnecessary amount of detail put into them, why do you think they only added six new Pokémon per dlc? Because they were so overdesigned that they were the only ones that were deemed acceptable to the standards which are being pushed far too much
I can’t tell if Depresso being put in 'UHHHHHH' tier is a scandalous injustice or exactly where Depresso would personally place itself.

in the case of the fakemon look alikes, i think its almost unfair to ask them to avoid looking like ALL the fakemon that exist. there are just TOO MANY and they can be so obscure, its would be impossible to check your design against ALL the fakemon that are out there and so i can see how it happens.
THANK YOU! The arrogance of assuming a company across the world stole your specific design in a niche part of the internet is insane
@@johnnyhall9154 i wouldnt go as far as to say insane, more so that its just unlikely. Occam's Razor can be applied here to ask, is it more likely that they stole the design or simply that 2 artists who were both influenced by pokemon came to very similar conclusions when making a new monster?
@@VencentCross I mean, I have drawings of a Fakemon I made in middle school of a rabbit that uses its claw like ears to dig. Years before Diggersby came out. So yeah.
That's what I've been saying. Pokemon copied all animals and objects. Most are just haters because Palworld is so big and a bunch of stuff they wish pokemon was. Open world, pals help around the base, no turn battle, ppl can gang up on 1 palmon and open season on who throws their sphere first, and much more. Pokemon followed the same stale formula since 90s with a few gimmicks added. If pokemon would of did this, then Palworld wouldn't exist or barely be noticable.
@@la8ball really i actually like Legends Arceus more, myself but then game freak never iterated on that game and instead made 2 lacking remakes and another by the numbers mainline sequel and im just sick to death of those. generally if i want good classic pokemon games, i'll play a fangame or romhack like Uranium or Unbound or Bushido!

The thing i love the most about the plagiarism accusations, is how many Pokemon fans ignorantly believe that Pokemon is original content.
If they're not based upon real-life creatures or folklore, then the Pokemon are a lot like creatures seen in other cartoons and games.
Wait til they see the original sprites compared to Dragon Quest
@@johnnyhall9154I looked at them, the pokemon designs are very distinct from their Dragon Quest "counterparts"
Wixen and Katress are suppose to be based on Merlin and Morgana. As their deck entries state that they fight with each other everytime they meet.
Honestly, in the "CALL THE COPS" tier, I only see 4-5 of them that could be considered "plagiarism", the rest are either based on the same concept (Like Anubis) or they just have the same color pattern
Great tier nontheless
Indeed, like cattress in "call the cops" ? why ? Oo
Or the " caballion clone "... the only comparison between the two is the colors and beeing fourlegged animals with horns... the whole body is really different.
Anubis is based on... anubis... just like lucario...
It's funny people often says that robinquill is based on gallade since it have the blaziken legs ^^
And wixen is our regular fox wizard^^
In "call the cops" i think i'd only see cremis, verdash and the water pal and all of them have more changes than people would admit, like with verdash they changed :
-It's face
-It's hair
-the collar thing
-It's tail
-It's ears
Ponyta being compared to the deer Pal while Circle saying the Pal doesn't look like a deer so it's not similar to Ponyta and Ponyta being a... Pony 💀. sorry that exchange was funny for me

In the case of the model comparison. It should be well known at this point, the guy that did them faked it. He upscaled and stretched out the pals to make them fit. He did this because he didn't like the "animal cruelty" that was in the game. Yea, he has admitted to doing this.
While it's true that doesn't mean that it's a bad practice to upscale models when comparing them, if things like that aren't done you can't really compare them becase one model will probably be insede the other , stretching is somewhat needed sometimes too but that is a case to case basis
@@nechocat1234 It still stands that his argument of upscaling was made entirely in bad faith, and proven to be false accusations. Even without that, you'd end up with the same results with any animal. Match two creatures based off wolves and overlap them you will always have a similar overlap. Same with lions, and birds, and well anything.
@@alchemi802 that is completly false, while some parts of the body will be similar for ir to be recognize as that animal I can assure you that garurumon, lycanrock and worgs are different even odogaron and lunagaron are really different and they are from se same franchise, saying that creatures based in animals will be the same is an insult to the creative process
@@alchemi802 How you compare if the scale not even the same with each other?
Yeah no him doing it in bad faith just because of the "animal cruelty" in a video game about fake animals in a world with established slavery, public torture, etc. Is pretty bad. But that doesn't stop the fact the Palworld team definitely ripped the model of the pokemons hair, scaled it down/up and slapped it on their own model. It was stolen and even with the fact this guy found this, to only speak about it to bring down others, it's still stolen art. It's minor theft but, theft nonetheless.
Circle: "Anubis is just Lucario"
Bruh, Lucario was based off Anubis. Like Ancient Egypt Anubis. Palworld just said, "To hell with subtlety, we're putting the Egyptian god of the underworld in the game."
To be fair, there's a million ways to depict Anubis that doesn't look like Lucario. Pal Anubis has a similar face and body structure, he's clearly meant to be the Pal equivalent of Lucario. Not a 100% copy like some others but still clearly "inspired" by Pokemon.
why is it proportioned like lucario tho?
Anubis is mostly a normal human with a animal head like many Egyptian gods, the body type is very specific to lucario only.
@@SenpaiSamaKun lucario had human hands? And yeah, Palworld Anubis is a person with a dog head.
@@charliemacsart oh you’re absolutely right. But it’s not lawsuit material that circle thinks it is. I’ve seen more blatant Lucario rips. Some mobile game ad had a poster of a hero named Lucas. He was a blue, black and gold anthro dog who fought hand to hand… Actually was just lucario but with more muscle.
@@soldierhobbes1182 Oh definitely but I think Circle is just joking around. Like he knows it’s a ripoff but he isn’t giving serious legal decisions hahah
27:56 Fun fact : Lucario is actually based on the egyptian God anubis

To be fair, there's a million ways to depict Anubis that doesn't look like Lucario. Pal Anubis has a similar face and body structure, he's clearly meant to be the Pal equivalent of Lucario. Not a 100% copy like some others but still clearly "inspired" by Pokemon.
@@charliemacsartthere's literally paintings of the god. Palworlds is closer to those depictions than Lucario
@@ralcogaming7674 yes, but the question is moreso whether anubis is more similar to lucario than the pictures (with creative freedom). because you could take lucario and barely make it look closer to the original design and it would still be stolen from pokemon.
(Personally I agree with you though, it's really just a walking dog-guy)
@@jffrysith4365 while that's true for the most part I think they're different enough there's no chance. Alot of people are forgetting you can copyright part of a design like this.
28:18 i really dont see anubis and lucario. If youre designing a character off of anubis, they are gonna have a dog head and human body. Thats just how Anubis works. Both lucario and this Anubis are based off of the same dude. However, their colour palettes are completely different, lucario has dog paws and anubis straight up has human hands and feet. Anubis is definitely in the fine tier. But Uhhhh at the lowest.
No idea how the idea of deer with big antlers is a design that belongs to pokemon now.
Well we have to sue Odin now bot even the all father is safe from nintendo
Some Pokemon are so generic in appearance, it seems unfair to say that no one can use certain animals for anything in a creature collector.

He didnt say he resized parts of the mesh. He said he scaled the entire model down so its easier to compare
@@johnedwards4313 no he said he scaled down individual parts of certain meshes like with the two wolves/dogs and left other parts the same size so they “could be more easily compared” but really what that did is make them all seem way more similar than they actually were
@@Olm- Didn't he also admit that the only reason that he did this in the first place was cause he didn't like how cruely Pals were shown being treated?

@@Olm- the guys that provide the model compare (@byofrog) literally said they only scale uniformly, stop spreading misinformation.
I feel like the problem is that any Pal based on an animal/myth is going to be compared to pokemon based on the same thing, and since there are over 1000 pokemon, there will be overlap. Like he was saying about Lamball, you can't really make a sheep-based creature that doesn't resemble the Wooloo or Mareep families.
"He's not a Ponyta cause he isn't a deer, SEE"

@@lazybones8962 while you are correct, so is @arjungrewal-rv1ep
Pidgeons and doves are literally the same thing. they are both terms that refer to over 300 species of birds in the columbidae family. the only difference is "Dove" came from nordic languages, and "Pidgeon" came from french
Those pidgeons you see in new york? those are both called "Rock Doves" and "Rock Pidgeons"
So saying that "Pidove is dove, not a pidgeon", thats like saying "that square is not a polygon, it's a shape!"
the only possible difference is colloquial, where people will usually call the smaller individuals of these birds doves.
The shape kinda reminds me of the chicken gun chickens. Idk my little brother used to play the game but it’s been a while so I might be misremembering. But based off memory it looks REALLY similar to the chicken gun chickens. Not that they can get sued over it. Round chicken isn’t really anyones specific design.
As others have pointed out before, Mau is actually based on Egyptian cats, particularly their funerary cats and statuary.
They're always depicted as wearing jewelry and such, and the fact that Mau generates gold for you while in the farm is based on that.
11:00 that's just a deer lmao. Pokemon didn't invent deers

jormuntide looks nothing like most sea serpents ive seen
the closest thing you could say is that it has a segmented body like gyarados but even that's a stretch

The Hangyu one got debunked since Hangyu was shown in an old trailer long before that artist drew the 'copycat'.
Bro, the ice path theme always slaps. Good ost choices.
Hangyuu’s controversy turning out to be a coincidence is testament to the fact that most good ideas already exist in some form. If you have a “good idea” someone has probably already thought of it before.
The artist saying “THIS time it’s a coincidence” is a little annoying though. Can’t even fully admit to a mistake.
Chasing “complete originality” is as impossible as it is ridiculous. But yeah the Mega-Eevee is bad.
Just to let anyone know that the person that posted the meshes being similar has been outed for faking/forging the evidence
And the reason for it was because palworld was promoting animal cruelty
Few of these are absolutely reaching 100%. Also you can’t say Pokemon owns certain design features because they don’t.
Pokemon owns general animal design. LOL! If its an animal its copyright infringement. Better get rid of your pets before Nintendo comes a knocking.
Pokemon doesn't own design features, no one does. They are however entitled to their art style even if not legally, which Pals are clearly plagiarizing.

The face is 1:1 Galarian Meowth's, which is the worst part imo. The rest of the design is generic enough that it's not copying anything
What I think is the funniest part about that Pal is it's Catbus. Light up eyes and its a rideable mount.
The real issue us that there are just so many Pokémon of every different animal and such, it hard to not have similarities.
Seeing your face with various voices is wild to me cause it its not what I imagiend at all. ALso sylveon for the pink rabit is what you were thinking of
I think it’s funny when Pokemon stans forget that animals exist in real life. Like they’re based off the same thing there’s only so many ways you can make a sheep look unique while still a sheep.
I love how Palworld dares to make pals that don’t really look like anything immediately. Like Rooby, it’s a Rooby, not specifically an animal.
Oh snap is that Fools Blade in the background?
At least with the Pals, you can actually do stuff with them in and out of battle, Pokémon is just battle and walk with you… and that’s it. Even if some of these are *stolen*, still better than most recent Pokémon games.
What exactly do you do with the pals? Like with pokemon you can also have a picnic with them, make a sandwich, play with toys, wash em...... and the pals..... is.... slave labor?
Ride them anywhere, actively help you in the base and can be assisted to do various, the special abilities and Pal Skills that Pals can do. And their only slaves if you treat them like that
@@Sonichero151 I just threw a pizza party for my pals, made them hot springs and upgraded their beds. Gave them pets for their hard work. I built a small town on top of a mountain for them.
What have you done with the dozens of pokemon you have shoved in a pc box? Wouldn't it be nice to have some sort of, I dunno, Secret Base or something where you could have a dozen or so pokemon doing something in a way that felt alive and interactive? Wouldn't it be nice to have a place where you could see more of your favourite lil creatures just living a mundane life, doing chores around the place, napping, etc? Something that feels rewarding for collecting more of the ones you like beyond just filling out a dex and filling boxes? That's something that Palworld actually gives.

Which how so many of these pals are designed you’re not convincing me that AI wasn’t involved in the creative process. A lot of them are just Homunculus of established Pokémon.
@@Broomer52 The lead dev was tweeting about those early AI Pokemon generators back in 2021, right around when PalWorld started development, saying that the AI Pokemon looked like real Pokemon (which is funny cause image AI back in 2021 was awful lol). It's not concrete proof but it is a little suspect. They could've used the tool, picked a few outputs that were interesting, and refined them into a final design. That one water type Pal that has Ponyta's head and a generic seal body is the one that makes me think that the most.
@charliemacsart that tweet wasn't about pokemon anything it was talking about the game they made using AI and how much fun they were having. You spread more misinformation than the onion.
@@ralcogaming7674 the tweet where he posted a picture of AI generated Pokémon next to real Pokémon and compared the two wasn’t about Pokémon? The tweet is from 2021, long before their AI Art Imposter game. You clearly don’t know what tweet I’m referring to and unfortunately TH-cam doesn’t like links so you’ll have to look it up.
@@charliemacsart I haven't seen that one no, regardless the use of AI has to be disclosed on steam furthermore did they use AI or did they steal designs both can't be true.
Thankfully Nintendo has already shown...
They know about the game, but there is nothing they can do to stop it.
No direct asset rips or design stealing.
Sure the inspiration is there, but it's no different from what Pokemon took from Dragon Quest.
And the next pokemon game will still be shit because fans will still buy it palworld did nothing to pokemon because pokemon were made to sell the console, card and collectible
Given your reaction to Orzerk I'm guessing you also wouldn't recognize the piano theme of a very specific league champion
Exactly, orserk is definitely the garchomp of palworld. Not as scary since electric types get pretty bad moves in palworld but still.
8:23 That person fabricated the evidence by editing the models to look similar. They didn’t like how Palworld was promoting animal cruelty… when they themselves are a pokémon fan.
Which pokemon is just a Rooster fight pit game for kids.
I think it's fair enough to make the argument for some Pokémon lookalikes that it is literally a turtle, dog, etc. I agree with the majority of your picks though lol.
idk i dont really see aggron in warsect personally
I wouldve put celray a rank above cuz the only similarity between it and Mantine is that there both mantarays even tho Celaray could be a stingray I feel. They got completely different faces and also different patterns. The colors are pretty similar but still pretty different enough overall in my eyes.
Really says something about the subject, that 'plagiarism tier list' has been plagiarized so many times.
The lesson is, it doesn't matter.
The whole 3d model comparison thing was priven false and the original accuser and poster of which has admitted to doing such. Aside from that this was a fun tierlist.
that 3d model comparison was "proven" false by them saying they had to adjust the proportions slightly and the wireframe was different. And the xbox and pc cult who never touched even playdo in their lives think that's remotely time consuming.
I even saw a smear campaign that said Mario and Sonic fit together to say its silly, and... Sonic's way bigger?
23:37
Goodra body, Quagsire face and color scheme.
h m m m m
Cartoony dinosaur silly eyes and water color for water element creature
Hmmmmm
Eikthyrdeer is clearly inspired by Ancestor Spirit.
Deer god
Honestly pretty good list, most fair and least slanderous I’ve seen out of the youtuber lists for Palworld CircleToons!
Could nitpick a lot of the choices since some are far leaps, but otherwise a fun list to see you go through!
I mad respect you having the pengullet on your team, personally I prefer my exploding pal on my team to be jolthog, but game recognizes game.
oh god, ive never seen what circletoons looked like irl so the intro jumpscared me.
As a game dev myself
I really do not care about how inspired the designs are. I don't get why people are making such a big deal of it. See a good design, put your own spin on it, that's how 90% of things are made. I love Braixen, I love Wixen. I love Goodra, I love Dinossom. People trying to go all detective mode with the models and stuff have gotta chill. Game is fun, enjoy it for what it is.
People care because copyright laws exist. I myself don't think The Pokemon Company will file any lawsuit against Pocketpair for the designs they have right now, but some of them do get dangerously close to dragging them into Nintendo's C&D shredder.
@@christiancinnabars1402 People need to stop doing Nintendo/Pokemon's job for them I think. What people have been doing is equivalent to the kid in school who'd snitch on you for the simplest things. People need to chill, enjoy a game for what it is, and let companies deal with stuff like this themselves. Pokemon doesn't need you to point out any similarities for them.
@@lightmaker5648 You gotta remember though, Pokemon is an entire personality to some. So Palworld, given it's success, can be seen as an attack to their character. Especially when the Pal designs are legit better that their pkmn counter part. I'd choose Verdash over Cinderace.
@@D3adCl0wn True. I grew up playing pokemon myself, Gen 3 was my first gen. I love the games but I'm not gonna go feral on any other game that 'encroaches on pokemon's territory' or whatever. Game is fun, enjoy it. Least we got people like you who aren't going mental over it.
Considering Fakemon are fanarts of fake Pokemon, I argue the Wixen and Katress in that tier is weak. I cant even find the evidence of that Fakemon when googling them.
Rooby is most likely a fusion between a deer and a fox. And I'm not so sure about the fox. But those are hooves, 100%.
Edit: You came so close, then you had to put Katress in "Cops"-tier. You were already pushing it with Lunaris.
Did this man say Chillet was an ice SALAMANDER?! Your Honor this man has clearly never played Palworld or Pokemon therefore I rule we throw this whole list out!
And how he thinks Hoocrates is original, meanwhile Murkrow over here being like "WTF!"
Kiljadaen stop shit posting, you're dead. And I don't think Hoocrates looks anything like Murkrow, even with their images side by side.
Hoocrates looks way more like Coo from Kirby than it does to Murkrow
@@clarehidalgoEh..maybe in body shape but its a dark colored bird with a hat makes me think way more of Murkrow.
@@kiljadaen Thinking on it more, reminds me of the owl in Potionomics than Murkrow
saw this in my recommended feed after following the main channel for years. It's so weird seeing circletoons' face IRL
Shamin, phanpy, gogoat, scrafty, salamance, grotle, there are more with a couple that just look like mixes of Pokémon but these were the main ones I saw (as someone who hasn’t played palworld) that were ranked higher than I thought they should be.
Yes I put the pokemons name because I don’t know the pal names lol.
Anyways feed the algorithm more lethal company and comics funny art man! (Also I’ve never mentioned it but I genuinely love your long form videos. Like when you talked about the amount of time videogames take. Keep up the good work boss man!)
12:18 thats a whiscash with a sobble fin and a different color scheme and a little bit of a weezing vibe
Circle acting like he's not already committing tax fraud...
Yesssss, feed the flames of chaos!
Funnily, I find Orserk (As you put it "30 ideas" and "So not like a Pokemon") to be the most brilliant pokemon riff they did. That's an inverted Garchomp. It's an electric Orca instead of a land shark, but it has Garchomps stance and overall body shape. It's the best design because they did such a good job people miss that it's *just Reverse World Garchomp.* Its so elegant in how it completely fooled everyone.
Also Felbat is just Darkrai but gorl. Shadowbeak is Sivally but Griffin.
Also i believe the streak on it's body kind look like a wrestler
"Aggron is my favorite Pokemon" I knew I liked you!
3:46 best reaction. 🐧 😂
Anubis and katress looks very different compared to the pokemon they supposedly ripped off of. Its like wooloo and lamball case, it came from the same idea but they put their spin on it that it looks different enough.
Controversial opinion: Cremis is cuter than Eevee
I almost disliked this video over Anubis. If anything, Lucario is Anubis because Anubis is ancient Egyptian myth.
I think its more that the anubis design and brawler fighting style is really similar to lucarios. The ancient egyptian god design should in my opinion have a sharper nose shape and could also be seen using a crook(?) or similar implements to differentiate fighting style. Maybe also give it a more prominent mane/plume.
My only thing with people saying it was stolen by the fakemon community or looks like they stile it from Pokemon is.
There are a lot of people that have similar ideas and can come up with similar final designs even though there are some that are obviously they changed like one thing with it.
Perfect example being any random plant human like creature is one of the 5 pokemon made. Idk I just feel like automatically accusing is understandable to be defensive but sometimes you gotta realize there are some similar ideas that happen on accident.
I'll defend palworld purely on the subject of every element plus animal is gonna look similar. Pokemon has 900+ and so many fall into the same traps and dullness, like most every fish pokemon is kinda bad and uninspired.
Thought experiment for those unconvinced, you want an ice pokemon. What colours do you use? Blue, white and maybe black, can go brown if furry.
Maybe i'll use red to respresent the blood of its enemies becoming frozen to its body?
You'd be hard pressed to find a monster design from TemTem or Cassette Beasts that looks anything like Pokemon. Not to mention, ya know, _Digimon_
Jynx, sneasel, delibird, smoochum, snow cast form, snorunt, weavile, and frost rotom.
8:21 for those who do not know the person who created those "evidence" lied about it and made a sorry not sorry post about it. For example with Luxray they were scalling the models to make them try and fit.
first five minutes just made me think that this guy really likes birds
You putting katress in "call the cops" left me feeling like that spiderman meme where his girlfriend turned into steam
8:31 nope there was another wolf thing and it’s not even in the game. It was in the trailer.
