New viewer. As a dad of two long lady's. I love the work you are doing as a family project. Another thing you can do to old ashtrays. is to drill a hole in the bottoms. and one out the back side of the armrest. then install USB sockets into them. run the wire into the door. and with contact fittings in the door frame like new cars have. you can have awesome little USB ports and a place to roll up and store the cords. Keep up the great work.
My journey isn't as cool as yours... I have a 62 Comet S22. If you went to Mac Street Garage. You can see my project after two years. Or. Michaels Mercury Mayhem on my building of the shed specifically for working on the car. Again. Not as cool as yours or your dad's video editing skills.
Even though your car has been modified from a vintage factory original you have made a good-looking and safe car. Watching your videos makes me wish I had kept my Falcons and restored them. I would have restored my 63 convertible to standard factory condition, but I may have upgraded my 68 from the basic stock to a more premium model and modified it with some of the modern technology you did.
What a coincidence. I got a bag of Werther's for Christmas and forgot all about them until just a few days ago. I was actually eating one when I clicked on this video. lol P.S. I kinda feel like you need to order up a pack candy cigarettes off of Amazon so you can roll them up in your sleeve like the cool kids did with actual cigarettes back in 1965. Milner from the American Graffiti movie as an example.
OMG! LOL!❤ I actually stuffed candies in the ashtrays of my Dad’s ‘66 Valiant station wagon when I was a little tike. Like you, I learned never to leave them in there between car journeys, LOL! This episode made my heart smile! Mahalo!
This is one of those unnecessary but totally satisfying little projects that you need to give you a mental break from the heavy-duty stuff like radiators and transmissions. Small, focused, zen.
7 Werther's per door x 4 doors plus the one in the dash should be enough, but like said elsewhere don't leave them in there too long. Do Not use Hershey kisses!🤣
I wish! Unfortunately, only the rear doors had armrest ashtrays. Definitely not Hersheys. Ha! I was pretty strategic with my candy choice and I'll have to see how they hold up this summer.
Admire and appreciate the efforts to keep the positive attitude on all your videos. When are you going to release the "dark side of Ellie" video. I know cars not unlike children can take you to a place you don't want to admit to, and colorfull language can suddenly blurt out. Where' Ellie's dark side?
I thought of that, and from what I've read, Wethers are pretty durable. But it's a good question. What exactly is the melting point of a Werthers? I guess I'll be finding out.
Close but not quite. Door panels (just finished them this weekend, spoiler alert), headliner, bucket seat conversion, new carpet/center console, reorganizing our wiring, EFI tuning, disc brakes, wash/detailing episode...and then we might be done until winter break. 😀
@@ElliesGarage Oh I see, personally I don't smoke but I always keep an ashtray available in my car since some of my friends do. I've never really minded the smell of cigarette smoke but I guess it really bothers some people.
I bet those old armrests have shrunken and that is why they don't match the new units. Plastic rubber and foam does strange things after 50 or so years
Wish you tube would have recommended this channel sooner! Awesome to see there is still some families work together and be happy!
Thanks so much!!
Bravo! Good Decisions. Carl's coming along! Thank You for sharing your progress. Stay Happy, these days are the Best!
Yes! Thank you!

Be proud dad... you have nurtured adult development in ELLE She has come a long way in the past year... KUDOS
Perfect plans. On all your videos. Keep on keeping on.

Never thought of using the "soft brass" dremel option. Will definitely be trying that. Great job kiddo !!
Thanks! I didn't know if it would work but it really did a good job!
Your Dad has to be a very PROUD Papa!!! Keep up the good work !!!!
One word - Ants!
😬😬😬
That turned out sweet ! The color's look awesome great choice . You are doing great job on Carl . 👍
Thank you so much 😀
Hey Ellie, Great job with the candy dish idea. I smoke and now I want to quit so I can convert mine.

Good job ya'll, looks awesome. Thanks for the video.
Thank you!!
Looks so good i love the idea! Careful on them wicked hot summer days though 😂 gonna have a caramel mold of the inside
Nice Job, I love when you can repurpose something that was not so cool into something neat. It also keeps the interior looking original. 👍
Yes! Especially after I had been dreaming about it for so long now. Thank you!!!
Such a sweet car! ;) godd job guys!! Hugs from Italy
grazie mille!
Awesome job! If it were me it would just be a bag of gummy worms/bears jammed in there 😂

Was the cigarette butt masher. Never used it. Had the bean bag type instead.
I had no idea! Thanks!

If you haven't seen it yet, this episode definitely brought out some dark emotions 😬

You can also put USB ports in them.
That is such a cool idea!!!!
cute Idea, but, one Problem,, what happens when you park at like a Car Show , in the heat, and the Candy Melts?
I thought of that, and from what I've read, Wethers are pretty durable. But it's a good question. What exactly is the melting point of a Werthers? I guess I'll be finding out.
@@ElliesGarage Nationals is just a few months away. I guess we'll find out then
Hi
I bet I can guess Carl's favorite candy, hmm is it MINT?
Love it!! 😂😂😂
Kids used put their chewed gum in there. Hard to get out. Yucky too.
Yikes! I bet.
It looks like you’re a couple of door panels and a headliner away from being “done” right?
Close but not quite. Door panels (just finished them this weekend, spoiler alert), headliner, bucket seat conversion, new carpet/center console, reorganizing our wiring, EFI tuning, disc brakes, wash/detailing episode...and then we might be done until winter break. 😀
@@ElliesGarage hahaha well, it wouldn't be a car project if it was ever done. That's why I put "done" in quotes! keep up the good work!
Ellie, may I please have the rose gold paint code? Did you use the same paint on the door metal as well as in the vinyl arm rest?
Of course! Yes, same paint for both.
It's a Hyundai color and the OEM code is UE
Gold Savor Hazelnut
Hope that helps!
It also has a "brand code" of 904426
what if your passengers are smoking though now theres no ashtray, which I guess it'll still function if you remove the candy probably.
People are welcome to smoke in their own cars. NOBODY smokes in mine.
@@ElliesGarage Oh I see, personally I don't smoke but I always keep an ashtray available in my car since some of my friends do. I've never really minded the smell of cigarette smoke but I guess it really bothers some people.
Repro models of foam items shrink a little with age plus repro manufacturers make slightly different shapes and sizes to fit more years and models.
That makes a lot of sense. Thanks for that info!
Somewhere, some old man with Camel cigarettes is turning over in his grave.
😂😂😂

That's a great point. We didn't even think of that. Thanks!
is that a truckla shirt?
Yep! Simone is the best!!!
