I saw Architects play a support slot back in November 2022, where they only played music from their past two albums. Two guys near the front heckled them the whole time, constantly shouting “play something heavy” and “you used to be metal”. Sam called them out and told them if they don’t like it, fuck off and leave. Biggest cheer of the evening. Love Sam and the boys, and the channel Finn ❤

“Classic Symptoms” is one of my least favorite Architects records to date. But just like Thornhill’s “Heroine,” I respect the hell out of the boys for doing whatever the fuck they want, and putting heart and soul into it. Even if I don’t like every waking second of the album, they still put in work and time, because it was important to them. And I’m proud that the boys in architects are proud of what they’ve done, despite the backlash. Because standing your ground, despite how the music sounds, is metal as fuck. And I’m proud to be and Architects fan, no matter where they go in the future. RIP Tom.

Even if most didn’t like it, it’s still impressive architects can change up and still sound good. Regardless, even if it isn’t the normal architects sound, it still sounds amazing to itself. It blows my mind people can’t recognize how much talent and hard work architects have, even if it isn’t your cup of tea. People have to recognize this will bring new fans to them who like them just for the new sound. Sure I’m not as much of a fan of the newer stuff but I still recognize how good it is regardless. It’s impressive the range they have.

My Dad died of throat cancer when I was 22, back in 2014. And he was a popular music venue owner and musician. People use his name to hurt me on a regular basis still to this day. It's highly offensive. I can relate to this. I don't get how anyone thinks its okay to bring my Dad up like that and having played shows with Architects back in the day and having spent time around them briefly it was clear that if anyone they are the last people who deserve this. Tom and his brother were in particular so fucking nice to my band when we were just kids supporting them in small clubs. I haven't liked any music they've released in years but I would never understand why they'd be fucked with in such a nasty and personal way if at all. Shameful.

I think even saying Tom would have done it better is disgusting. People want to act like Tom was a perfect writer and the rest of the band can't hold a candle to him and its stupid. Tom wrote The Here And Now. Not my favourite album, but importantly, its not that heavy and people hated it at the time. Tom also wrote a couple of the songs on Holy Hell, which alot of these people say isn't good. And I believe I heard the band mention that it was Tom's idea to try mixing industrial rock with metalcore (aka Animals, Tear Gas, etc). Yet people want to act like Tom wanted to and would have just kept writing All Our Gods 2 if he were still alive.

Applause to Sam if you watch the video of how he handled it. The press made it a little misleading by using certain terms (i.e. ‘…Carter addressed the fan from stage and was rightfully livid.’) and then between that and the profanity Sam used? In print they made it look like Sam was spitting venom, yet he did the OPPOSITE of that + the headlines left out the key, ending detail. Here’s the reality: Sam handled it like a level headed gentleman, spoke in a heartwarming way, and then literally invited the crowd on the count of 3 to shake it off. Having lost 7 people who were close to me -we’re not merely talking grandparents- watching a couple of them physically leave their body -one of them to cancer- then my mom, little sister, & I went through my mom’s breast cancer together with Tom’s melanoma and Tom’s passing all coming back to back? If some did that to ME or my best friend/business partner/brother (basically my brother) over those circumstances I’ve lived through? I would’ve NOT handled it well. It would’ve been brutal, and ugly.. How Sam handled it is.. fuckin heroic, quiet honestly. Inspiring. Now, I’m finding myself looking up to him in a comparable way to how I look up to Mike Shinoda. He & Ali gave an interview with a female, German journalist (it’s the one where they have to pass around the single microphone), and he was asked about an incident. She wanted to know if it was inflammatory, and what Sam (and Ali, too) had to say was once again so level headed, heart warming, and gentlemanly. This dude is a fuckin inspiration. Sam Carter DEMONSTRATES excellence in a good way to be under the WORST imaginable pressure. Human beings are defined by the actions they take under pressure. The greater the pressure, the deeper the revelation, and the more true to the person’s essential nature you get. What a dude 👏🏼❤️‍🩹 Kudos sir 🙌🏼

A lot of metal fans are very underdeveloped or undereducated in general because the whole music genre itself is very tribal in nature, using a lot of rhythmic elements initially found in Spiritual and Occasional African Tribal Music. It hits our chimp brains in such a manner that it hits our innate centers, which are very VERY emotionally driven (a shitty example of this is a baby between 0 and 9 months out of the womb. Metal always had a personality of "outcasted, controversial, not like the others etc" where people want to act like they're holier than thou thus they lash out at anyone who doesn't conform to this 'hardcore' aesthetic - any other emotion beyond anger is considered weak, poetic depth is too mainstream and innovation is hated. This is same thing that happens whenever a band loses one of its members but yet the rest of the band continues on. An easy example is Dime and Vinnie Paul. When Dime was murdered, Vinnie started Hellyeah and many fans of Pantera saw Hellyeah as a disgrace to Pantera's legacy. I can't tell you how many "Dime would be rolling in his grave right now because of what Vinnie is doing" comments I read online in this time period. It was almost every comment online.
Some people are just completely disconnected from reality when they go online and don't associate the right emotions and the reactions that would ensue when they post such tactless comments online. And it's these people that tend to be the loudest and use the internet platform as their excuse to say whatever they want with basically no consequences because in real life, their words don't have any power but here we have the internet and boom. It's instant power because you have a platform to connect with a lot of people and that power tends to bring out the best and worst of humanity.

The world just seems to hate change, architects have older albums that sound different and heavier, we still have them to enjoy, people don’t seem to realise that bands like architects and bring me the horizon that have changed to a slightly more mainstream version of themselves are helping new audiences get into this genre of music, and I’m sorry but how is that bad?! More fans means more music and more tours, people need to get a grip and just shut up if they don’t like it, like the old saying, if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all

This are 5 normal dudes just making a living. Criticise the art, for sure, thats what art is there for, to form an opinion on. But it doesnt need to be personal.

Coming from a gay guy, props for the comment on homophobia, these people lack the intelligence to understand your music or respect you for what you do. That was a big deal for me to hear you say. But the interviewer here should tell us how songs like "animals" affected him on an emotional level compared to some of their older songs like "learn to live".
