      I like their netcode a lot. It feels like fighting games are finally getting on the same level as shooters etc in that regard. Now all we need is crossplay since most fighting games have smaller communities to begin with. That'd be cool to see outside of, y'know, Brawlhalla (which coincidentally also has rollback and crossplay, next to being free)

    I never really played fighting games when I was younger. I had the old MK trilogy on PlayStation, but I only messed about on it, sometimes playing the towers, or mashing buttons against my sister. It was fun, but I never really felt a pull to play more of the genre.
    That changed when FighterZ got announced. A few years before, a friend had recommended the series to me and it got me into anime. It's strange to think that if I hadn't liked Dragon Ball, I probably wouldn't have got into traditional 2D fighters. Now I love all sorts of fighting games, even if I suck at them, and I feel like they've helped me manage my salt (I used to be kind of whiny, I could be a sore loser).
    I love fighting games, I love learning how to play them, and I love competing against other players. The rush of conquering a tough opponent, the satisfaction of finally learning to do that one cool combo I saw on TH-cam once, or just the fun of hooking up a second controller and playing against my friends. I'm so glad that I got into fighting games.

    I know this is an older video, and I am about to suggest an even OLDER game, but I do think Killer Instinct does deserve to get a mention. The combo system is REALLY easy to understand. Combo Breakers and Counter Breakers offer some interaction when the player is being comboed. The game has a PRETTY big tutorial, possibly better than skullgirls even. From what I heard, the online is decent too, although, personally I definitely notice some lag still unfortunately, but that might be on my end instead?
    Also, the game does have a sort of demo version on the microsoft store and xbox, which from my understanding has Jago and another rotating character for free-to-play. Or pay $30 for the definitive version on Microsoft store, Xbox, or Steam and have access to all the characters. Or just pay a certain amount for a specific character you like. Another thing I heard is that apparently the microsoft/xbox version is prefered over the steam version due rank reasons? I am not sure.
    Regardless I do think it is worth check out at least.

    No mention of Type Lumina in the New Games section? As someone who sorta got into anime fighters (and fighters in general) off the back of Skullgirls and French Bread games I really feel like they're some of the best to see if you like the genre imo
    french bread's open ended combo system makes you feel sick for getting any hit because you just have to hit another button to start a combo, and that ease of approach really made me want to explore and understand new routes, and it really helped me want to understand the genre as a whole.
    yeah GG had* gatlings but those still felt sorta restrictive, especially coming from the games that created Rebeat
    Loved the video though!

    Why do fighting gamers want more people to join in? I get the impression that I just gave up too early or I can't take losses. Ive tried on and off for 29 years. I've bought at least 15 fighting games. I still don't like them enough. Its just not interesting enough to keep me going for the 1000 hours to become competent, in each game. I really believe I'm not a fighter. The closest I've ever gotten is tekken. I got to ok levels in tekken tag 2. Since then it's not happened to get me hooked.
    I will agree this is the only genre of gaming seeking interaction from new players. That is an interesting question.

    SF: You are an execution junkie, living in the past with a ton of out of date mechanics.
    GG: You love anime, and you want the best netcode
    Tekken: You are an elitist, who thinks their farts are better than air. Easy to get into, the hardest to git gud. Get ready to learn a lexicon worth of info/numbers.
    MK: You want the best production value, you don't care that the gameplay if full of holes. +Ninjas
    KoF:??? It will be new? (seriously, please someone educate me why would you ever wanted to touch it over SF or GG)
    DBZ: You love DBZ. You hate being forced to play 1 character at a time, a small netcode issue never bothered you.
    All with one similarly: If you can't git gud, there is always DLC.

    Me and fighting games had a falling out after the switch to online focused play. Seems like every lobby you get into always has that one player who has 200+ hours on one character and only spams that character cause it has a cheese combo or ability that roflstomps 90% of the roster. I just got tired of being forced to play certain characters to counter em or lose and the only other option was being bored against the comp.

    SoulCalibur and DOA my comfort picks.
    Unfortunately, I've been trying to learn motion inputs for 20 years and just can't do it. So if I play a 2D fighter, I play on keyboard and use macros for my specials.
    BuT tHaT's ChEaTiNg!!1!1
    Do you want me to play these games or not? 'Cause playing a game without literally half of my character's kit results in me spending my entire match stuffed into a corner. Fun for you, not for me, and the point of these games is to have fun yes?
    I never play ranked. Usually only with friends. And still y'all whine. Do you want me in your community or not? All I did was find a way to make these games accessible to me and not be automatically gated out of the game due to motion inputs.

      Motion inputs exist for a reason outside of just making things needlessly difficult. I don't really care enough or have the proper articulation to explain it in detail but you can look into it if you care at all. Best example is forward inputs can't be done while blocking which is intentional, and back inputs can, which is also intentional. Having 1 button removes that level of strategy/character variety.

    Wait what in the beginning of your video when you mentioned MK11 and it might be over, you sounded surprised that NRS games only last two years. Yeah actually by now NRS would have already announced their next fighting game, I just thought it was funny that you sounded so surprised that NRS games life spans last two years.

    yo can we stop making it seem like Motion inputs are this super hard thing to do? people keep conflating this difficulty too much when it isn't any harder than doing any execution based requirement in other games

    • @Talking_Ed
      @Talking_Ed 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's pretty hard man, you need more time to learn how to play a fighting came than you need to finish playing a normal single player game.

      @@Talking_Ed please tell me how motion inputs are hard.
      Please tell me some kind of argument that wasnt already debunked. Literally learning any game takes time, especially anything that requires a modicum of skill. How is this any different from fighting games?

    • @Talking_Ed
      @Talking_Ed 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chenklazer2069 I'm not saying it's not true for all games, I'm saying that getting good at a game takes times, and FG inputs are way harder than, idk, a moba or a shooter input.
      Clearly there are other things to learn, but the difficulty in FG is 90% input 10% knowledge.

    • @chenklazer2069
      @chenklazer2069 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Talking_Ed how is it any harder than shooters lol? You really downplaying CSGO or something? Its all subjective.
      Have you even placed time into them? How do you know that FGs are 90% input 10% knowledge? You really gonna tell me that when complete newbies with little to no experience in FGs are putting their time into Strive?

    • @Talking_Ed
      @Talking_Ed 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chenklazer2069 I'm saying CSGO is not all input it has more map knowledge, knowing how to peek corners, it's not very hard input wise to put your mouse on someone's head and click.
      So, imagine it like this, if in CSGO everytime you shoot you had to walk forward, left and down, and click at a specific time or your gun jams lol
      Also, lot of people are playing Strive, how many of them are playing Strive well after a month? Lol

    I recently been getting into fighting games just to get ready for when Riot's Project L comes out cuz im going hard on that baby
    I've been mostly playing the community edition of Melty blood cuz there basically ain't no F2P fighting games out there and my death wallet is tempting me to use the good old piracy tactic

      If you're interested, there's DFCI which is an anime fighting game with recently-added rollback. Just go on the Discord and they'll give you the game for free, we're using the arcade version of the game.
      There's also Hisoutensoku, one of the Touhou spin-offs. Great game, not very othodox because of weird movements, but awesome overall. Same thing, just go on their Discord if you're interested, game's free.

      Forgot to mention DFCI's a game developed by French-Bread iirc, who already made UNICLR and Melty Blood.
