I bought a Gb24 cort jazz bass recently. $220 out the box no issues at all (just an ugly headstock) great value, put some flats on it, plays like a dream. A fraction of the price, maple and pauferro neck, poplar body with maple top (beautiful too) same as fender player series I believe? The only thing id do would maybe upgrade the pups at a later date (maybe) as a little more noise would suit my playing.
This was my bass you worked on. Thank you so much. I got to play it live this past weekend at a festival and she was perfect. Thank you for the amazing job. Im bringing all of mine to you!
I hate to say it but.... that USA fender had more setup issues then a Squier CV 70s I recently got. I was thinking of getting one but I don't know. $400 for a new guitar that needs work out of the box... that's fine. I could even deal with a MIM needing some work, but a USA Fender @ $1700 that needs work out of the box and has QC issues is unacceptable IMHO. I personally would have sent it back over the loose neck pocket. The rest can be fixed on there dime. I have been a huge Fender fan for 40 years. What are they doing over at Fender and is this typical of new Fenders now?
I've owned a Precision bass since 1980 (several different ones), and I've never liked flat wounds on any of them !! Past the increased tension, I dislike the lack of punch they have. Each to their own
Try rotosound flats, they're a really good bright sounding flat, if you're not a huge fan of dull flats. Silky smooth, very little to mute. Don't cost the earth either 👍

My pleasure!
I did not know flats have more tension. Interesting. I'll have the read the back of the string packages more often.

I don’t know. A bunch of it depends on who it’s bought from, how it’s stored and if it’s a Monday or Friday Guitar.
Tried flats for a little while. They works, but muted my tone a lot. Never went back.
Some pickups like them better. Active for sure.

@@fearnoevil65 I agree. Flats sounded muddy to me on my P-Bass.

@@halo20763 I really like Roto-Sounds in general. I might try a set of their flats. Thanks
