very nice well done demonstration of ballasting. i never would of thought to weather the rails with the brown krylon paint. I will have to do that as well. I like all those yard staging tracks. Nice post
A little late to the game on viewing this. Very nice! I can't search the comments so apologies if already covered. What color of brown Krylon, I did a few freeze frames and I can see it is satin... what is the color name? Also, what's the glue/water mix, and what were you spraying in the spray bottle? Great vid, thanks for the inspiration! (I'm about to paint an ballast my yard...)
Thanks! I try to not get any glue in between the 2 ties with the switch rod, which helps, but some always gets in anyways. If you return and throw the switch 2-3 times over the next 24 hours, it also keeps the glue from sticking. After everything is dry, I still sand off the glue residue from the rails and the contact points.
The way this guy did it looks great, he,s got a big layout, you have to make sure the rails are clean, I think what I would do is once everything is dry take a straight edge or something stable and short with a light abarsive paper or pad, and very gentley polish, not polish🌭🌭🌭the top of the rails Wich will leave them sparkling gleemi g Wich is the way they look in full scale real railroad life advousley you gotta be careful!! You don't want an accedent!!, there you have it.. thank you thank you thank you .😁😁😂🤣😃😅
I can tell you're doing NS track and not CSX based on how you can actually get stuff done. Jokes aside, you have an impressive layout which i don't think i'd have the patience for
This was shot over the course of about 1 month, but I only put an hour in here and there. It's hard to say exactly, but I would guess about 10 hours of work total!
Brett Hill Water spray about 8 ounces of water and two pumps of hand soap. Glue is 1/2 water and 1/2 premium wood glue. Make sure water is "hot" when you mix it.
We clean the track with a woodland scenics polishing block. My dad an I differ on this next step, but I usually clean track with a cloth dampened with Goo and then pass over the track a few more times with a dry cloth to make sure it removes everything completely. It seems to work well though!

The last thing you want to do is balest and take your time do not get in a rush.
Hi / You sure work very fast.
• Cheers from The Detroit & Mackinac Railway 🚂
Nice job. Very natural. How did you stop the points from being affected by the glue?
Nice!
which NS locamotives u like the best. i model a few of them but plan on having more
Different approach, liked results, music not bad either!
Congrats on a decade on TH-cam
why did you ballast first with a beige color and then covered by the grey at 3:00?
Decent ballist job on your yard Josh, where did you get the back ground music for your video? Keep up the good work.
Wish you would do mine lol but great job cheers Robert
It looks really good your getting close I am pround of u oh when do crossings down lower level

nice job. has to be everyone's favorite job to do, ballasting. are all your switches still operational?
Yep they still work great! Check one of my previous replies to see details on how I keep them clean and working.
Really nice job! What kind of paint are you using?
Nice 😀👍👍
What brown paint can did you use
What did you use for paint? I saw it was Krylon's Fusion, but I didn't catch the color. And how much ballast did you go through?
is that pure wood glue your pouring on? do you have a video on what you use?
I wish I could do this make a big yard for all of my train cars
Josh what colors do you use to weather the trucks on that NS locomotive your using in this video im having a very hard time replicating that color
How do you ballast your track? PLease do a vid on this
What did you use to keep the ballast in place?
What paint color dis you use
Nice work sir. Question, what brand of track and switches do you use on your layout.
I think they use Atlas track and Peco Switches.
Andrew nailed it. Thats right. Thanks! Josh
@@nsmodeler24Atlas 100 or 83?
Cool video. Can't wait to start scenery on my layout. How do you keep your turnouts from getting glued in one position?
What color did you use to paint the NS 4000 locomotives
I used primer gray and a testors blue, but I forget the shade. Sorry!
How do you keep from fouling the turnouts and points?

Now i wish i could do my yards in 6 minutes lol
I wish that my track work went that fast!
How do you unglue the switch points? Thanks for sharing
Check one of my previous replies to see details on how I keep them clean and working.
Great vid as always. What music did you use in the vid?
These are both songs produced by Apple available through my editing software. Thanks! Josh
NSmodeler24 Thanks!
Did you use real ballast.
I can tell you're doing NS track and not CSX based on how you can actually get stuff done.
Jokes aside, you have an impressive layout which i don't think i'd have the patience for
In reality, how long did this take you and what is your pre glue spray and what is your glue mixture? Nice vid! Thanks!
This was shot over the course of about 1 month, but I only put an hour in here and there. It's hard to say exactly, but I would guess about 10 hours of work total!

1:44 . Is that salt
Can you tell me about an approximate expense to create such rail model
A lot
Ok if you are going to paint the track use every thin masking tape mask the track then paint it any color you want
Did you clean your track with Goo? Haven’t seen that one before!
We clean the track with a woodland scenics polishing block. My dad an I differ on this next step, but I usually clean track with a cloth dampened with Goo and then pass over the track a few more times with a dry cloth to make sure it removes everything completely. It seems to work well though!
NSmodeler24 Thanks
Goo gone is awesome for cleaning the track best I have used yet :). Keep up the awesome work looking fantastic man :)
What you paint the track with?
I used a spray can of Matte Brown from a local hard ware store. Just make sure your room is well ventilated if you choose to use it!
Did you paint the ties and rails all one color in the matte brown, also what brand paint did you use?
Anyone know the name of the banjo song?
whats the namme brand of your switch tracks
The switches are all made by Peco and are code 100.
I'm kind of jealous of you watching your video. I live with parents so I will never have space to build at least a small layout 😔😔.
como va, a webbo, excelente!!!
