You mentioned GrimDark and I thought of the WarHammer 40K Universe. TTRPG game with tons of lore in books! I never thought to look for grimdark elsewhere.
I recently picked up the ember in the ashes series after hearing about Heir and I'm loving it so far. I'm about done with book three and I bought book four and Heir last night... I enjoy Sabaa Tahir's writing a lot.
I’m on the John Gwynne train with you. I’m hoping to read all three this year. I think the page sag is pretty normal for really thick books. The only preventative measure I know of is to cut a strip of acid free foam core board (from Michael’s) the width of the pages and slip it under the bottom pages so it provides some support.
I have both the brown and white cowboy hats for my Stanley and slim 40oz water bottles. My second Stanley is one of the ones with a top handle and 20oz. And doesn't have a tall straw like the 40s
Im very careful with way over-hyped up books. I think it sets in our minds a ridiculously unfair expectation for the book and author and then when it doesnt live up to our expectations we are so let down to the point, now, not all of us, but many then start lashing out and then it becomes this whole thing. I mean its crazy, have you seen whats going on with Onyx Storm, people are hate reading ( which is a whole other thing), her fans are a bit brutal, its so nasty and i think we forget its a book meant to entertain and to escape. Its gotten bat shit crazy, so, careful with those hyped books. Happy Reading, hugs to your pooch Jake, hes soooo cute!!!
honestly, i don't really get into anything near the hate reading side of things because it's not very fun to do or watch! i don't really understand getting that upset when expectations aren't met. happy reading! 🤎🐕🐈
that hat is the best straw stopper/topper i have ever seen. im with you for john gwynne - they are end half of year for me though. im reading the malice series first. im a sucker for romantasy and i love when the moon hatched. but i also love me a big book.
I finished Kingdom of Copper over a year ago and have been procrastinating reading Empire of Gold because I know it's going to ruin me (emotionally) and then put me in the worst reading slump ever 🤣🤣 She just DID something with that series and I don't want it to end! Also, you're making me low-key want to read The Blade Itself, too!
If I was to start a book from Joe Abercrombie which one is a good one for a new reader of his books. Also which one is a good one of Brandon Sanderson's I should start with. Because these are two new authors I want to read to read this year
if you like sci-fi, I would recommend Sanderson's Skyward series--it's YA and super fun. if you want more fantasy, then the mistborn trilogy for sure. for Abercrombie, I started with the blade itself and loved it!
One day we'll see her pick "65 books that you should read in 2065"
well yes

hopefully you enjoy them hehe 🤎🐕🐈
Very overwhelmed with starting long series myself.

Don't they make cradles for books to rest on so they don't have that bowing problem?
Some books, short or longer just need editing 😅
this is so true
