Great video. In my case the icon was missing until I went to the Keyboard app > Layouts tab > Added some layouts. Also make sure when you right click the panel and go to Applets that the Keyboard applet is enabled.
My Mint has been playing up lately. I think it has to do with the shortcuts (I have not set any shortcut, they are all by default). It suddenly stops being able to type certain letter, like Q, L, O... and instead bring up different windows (that they correspond to I guess). O switches between rotation of the screen on and off. L brings up some Merge screen... I've noticed this problem usually happens when I plug the PC to the external screen and do FN +F8 to mirror the screen. Is that what's messing up my keyboard? Any clues please?

the only flaw here that I don't see a language flag to make a switch in the right corner panel
Hi there, the language flag is actually at the bottom right corner there, it's just covered with TH-cam control buttons a bit. 👍
