The only stealthy thing about these is how they continue to elude my budget.
good one :)
You are not alone
Keep looking for used Aryas. I found one for just under $1000 in almost new condition. It's worth every penny.
same 🤣
Hahaha same
1:51 Wiseguy Rigid Release and Browning X-Bolt without a scope mounted
2:25 LTT Northern Lights Desk Pad
2:44 looks like a THULE backpack of some sort
5:22 Jefferson's Ocean bourbon
Don't know what the knife is, but it doesn't look like it's from the common Japanese kitchen knife brands.
I tried the early Arya versions and actually liked the Ananda over them. Recently got the Arya Stealth Magnet and for me they do EVERYTHING better than previous Arya's and are better than the Ananda. The previous Arya were ok... but the Stealth Magnet Arya were a WOW type headphone once you put them on and start listening. To me the Previous Arya were not worth $1600... but the Stealth Magnet Arya are. But to each their own.
How is the bass and sub bass on ananda ?
Ananda or Arya stealth has bigger Soundstage?
@@ChrisKeyman The Soundstage on all Arya versions is bigger than the Ananda soundstage. And the Arya Stealth Bass and Sub Bass is much better than the Ananda's. The Headphone you should be looking at is the Hifiman Edition XS which has a very similar sound signature to the Ananda... but with a really nice Bass/Low End that is pretty close to what the Stealth offers in the Bass dept. The XS is now a benchmark HP surpassing the Ananda as the best value headphone under $1000. I just wish the XS had the same headband style of the Arya and Ananda
@@JTB-- unfortunately the edition xs are not in Europe...
I am looking for something as neutral as possible with good sub bass.
I am not interesting for "huge" Soundstage like the Arya's original.
@@ChrisKeyman If you can use a little EQ to add in some sub Bass the Ananda would be a good choice. tbh... the Ananda have the best sound sig/tuning I've ever heard right out of the box. It doesn't need EQ whatsoever... unless you are craving a little low end with some added Bass
@@JTB-- Thank you
Would be perfect if you could re-review Beyer DT 1990 again and explain why they are still one of your top recommendations in 2021. More than 3 years has passed since you've reviewed them.
Would be cool if you put dekoni elite velours in it too for review!😃
He still didnt do dt770
Would be cool if I could think of a more passive-aggressive way to ask that.
@@kenzoquiambao better to put Mr speakers pads from Either CX, I have used angular one and put inside few tuning felts from Mr speakers too.
@@xentiment6581 I've already sent my decade+ old 80 ohm 770 to DMS, do I need to send it to Josh now also
I am absolutely loving the Stealth version of the Arya. Yes soundstage is a touch smaller than the OG Arya, but the gain in better bass slam, more fuller and forward mids. Better treble response, a faster transients and more resolution and detail is perfect for me. The Arya is a costly headphone and I just felt the OG Arya didn't have the resolution and detail for the asking price. It was still very good, but my Austrian Audio HI-X65 basically outclassed it. The Stealth Arya decreases that soundstage a bit, but finally brings the pure resolution and detail asked for the price. If not, it surpasses the price and brings it far more closer to HE1000se levels though with a better tuning. Also, the stealth Arya, while soundstage is a bit smaller than OG Arya. I still consider it very big. Imaging, is still the same and very precise. Basically I feel the stealth Arya now is a mix of the OG Arya and HE1000se. It sits right inbetween the two. If you want soundstage. Go for the OG Arya. If you want heaps of clarity, detail and very fast transients and snap. HE1000se is your choice. If you can't decide and want a mix of the two. STEALTH ARYA is your pick. And to me, that is bloody awesome 🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙. Because I do feel detail and clarity is much much much more closer to the HE1000se now but you have a touch more soundstage. For nearly half the cost. Damn amazing headphone
Explained better than josh. Thanks 🙏
Did you listen LCD X 2021 ?
@Lagunakid24 i want to know the same thing. Please let us know OP
Pretty ridiculous that these are 900$ today. Headphones that used to be considered end-game are now less than 1k.
S.G54321 you are Asian so maybe you work for Hifiman
Love the get to the point style of your reviews. Describing how you listen to a few songs also helps us amateurs start thinking more critically about audio. Appreciate it!
Great review! Soundstage is the reason why I fell in love with the OG Arya so there is no reason for me to consider this version. The WOW effect of the presentation really never goes away
Do you know which he means by og? Arya v1 or v2?
@@zhmazter7968 OG = original Arya, The V1. The one without the stealth magnets.
@@sp6450there were 2 versions with out the stealth magnets.
I just got the Arya stealth, I've never heard the V2 but I can't imagine anything having a wider soundstage than this, it's huge!
Joshua is playing up the staging capabilities of the OG Arya too much in this video imo.
@@wabbasMEpern he seems butthurt or something because the stealth is better.
he's a massive fanboyu of the og so there's a pretty big bias there
Perfect timing was just looking for the updated version review a couple of hours ago
Stealth Magnet being WAY easier to drive is crucial. And the soundstage is fine to me. I have the 800S with massive stage, and Focal Clear MG with no stage, and these fall comfortably in between.
which would you recommend? I currently have the Clears, not that happy with them. I was thinking of buying the 800S, but now am considering the new arya.
@@fleedance what did you do ?
@@musicxxa6678 I ended up with the 800s
And I’m conflicted. I love listening to music with the 800s.
But when I’m gaming the clears seem more detailed. For example, hearing foot steps in call of duty.
@@fleedance Maybe because Clear's are more intimate. I remember my DT1990's were godlike in games. They were forward and aggressive headphones. My Ananda wasn't good at all in games.
@@musicxxa6678 that’s probably it. But for me a factor was also comfort, I find the 800s to be more comfortable, the clears are squeezing my head. (If that makes sense?) and I couldn’t get used to them, wearing them for longer sessions.
I really appreciate you including the songs you’ve tested in your reviews
The Arya stealth with Eversolo A8 and Ifi audio pro ican signature is a match made in heaven❤️ Sweden
Arya’s differentiator was always soundstage. So if you’re okay skipping on that then that’s all fine and good but what can the stealth version do better than Focal Clears for example?
The 'original' is not even available any more, it's really a Rev 2, although they didn't market that. I reviewed them in my channel and they are different than the originals. So there are really 3 versions.
I hope you review the Arya stealth magnets on your channel. Cheers.
for such a massive change it would have been good to see some visual differences. the fact that you can barely tell them apart is a problem in my eyes.
Interesting how so many dismiss the purchase of the stealth edition purely on one reviewers opinion..Try trusting your own ears.👀 I purchased the hype train focal Mg and swiftly returned. Purchased the Arya stealth along with a burson soloist x3. And very satisfied.
Reviewers (particularly popular and well regarded ones) can have a big influence on an audience and even an entire industry. See Zeos whenever he hypes up a pair of cans or an amp he really loves and his fans buy them in droves and spread his word across the internet like gospel truth.People have to remember that Josh's perspective, is just one person's perspective that won't necessarily line up with yours. This is especially true in the audio world.
Speaking of the Arya Stealth, there's at least one glowing review of them on Head-fi written by an actual audio engineer that thinks they sound better than the Arya V2.
@@shockwave2291 Agreed. As I said ' trust your own ears' As for Zeos🙄 That guy is a clown. Nobody should trust anything he endorses. Look how he gushed over the Focal MG. I sent my pair back days later.
I just got these Aryas a few weeks ago and I love them. I do have to admit I was kind of disappointed in the sound stage. Everything else though was hitting me in the face, the bass the mids, the details. Now I really wish I had a V2 pair to try to figure out which ones I like the best. These were my first high end purchase and I'm now having buyer's remorse because I really like soundstage.
Do you like soundstage more than bass and resolution?
sound stage of the non stealth is bad?
@@ACE112ACE112 It's stealth version I'm talking about. Its not necessarily that it's bad, but it feels narrow and closed in. Has more height in the soundstage than the feeling as if you were surrounded by instruments in a decent-sized room. Everything else is pretty good though. The bass, mids, and the amount of detail is punching me in the face (in a good way) which might be more favorable to some people. I'm just sad I won't be able to see what made the V2 so legendary. I was deciding on whether to get the 800s's or the Aryas for a long time now. I went with the Aryas mainly because of the Bass Response over the 800s. Now it might not be as good for people who enjoyed the V2's soundstage. I wish I could have tried the V2s first before making the dive.
@@AJdarkfire dude I'll trade my V2 for your stealth
@@Josh-os2px Problem is, I'd wanna try them out first to see which I prefer.
Not sure what’s going on with the shirt. TH-cam be weird sometimes.

Ughhh. I wanted the stealth Arya for the easier drivability but knowing it has worse sound staging (which is 1 of tha main reasons to get an Arya) makes me want the old one.
I'm actually pretty glad to hear this. Josh is the best and I got sick of waiting for a stealth review so I picked up V2 over the weekend. Rolled the dice and won. :0)

I have the stealth and trust me. Give it a good burn in and it will soundstage with the best of them!! Amazing can!
How much burn in did you do until you felt that soundstage? I'm like 50 hours in and I don't see it yet?
@@jfleysh They need 150 hrs at least.
@@songboek ok that's good to know. So I'm assuming you got a lot of extra soundstage over time?
@@jfleysh I did, but keep in mind that the soundstage is different/ more accurate (realistic) than the V2's. If something is intended to be on the far left or right it will give you exactly that. But it will not do it with every song just like the V2's or the HD800S. (I own all those headphones so I know what I'm talking about) To me the stealth is overall better and more enjoyable.
@@songboek got it! just curious, but which of those headphones do you find yourself using the most? Is the 800s worth it as a compliment to the Arya or are they too similar?
The edit on the video is so so good!
Thank you for the great review! I was going to send mack my non-Stealth for the Stealth but I am glad I didn't The soundstage is what makes the non-Stealth so magical to me!
I believe a lot of soundstage is coming from that S range. You just can't have both. Huge soundstage headphones normally on bright side.
The sound signature of the non-stealth Arya is doing a replay that brings to you music like vast waves of sounds that envelop you. All is big and holographic, as if you are in a hall with powerful 3D accoustic. If these benefits are lost - no go!
Pretty much…i have the Arya and HE1000SE. Arya sound stage is special.
@@chamade166 which do you prefer overall between the two? I’d like the soundstage, but keep the bass.
@@arrakian i am a but split on the two. Currently using Arya because started missing the fuller sound and vast soundstage. HE1000SE is more detailed and more transparent…with a really shimmery top end. Arya is a better all arounder without EQ. With EQ HE1000SE is clearly superior, except in soundstage.
@@chamade166 what about Arya bass? I just got the “Stealth” and I need to make a decision while in the return window. Sound-staging is great to have, but I also like a full, (not necessarily bass head) quality bass.
@@arrakian You might prefer the OG Arya then. Fuller sounding overall and amazing stage. HEKSE and I imagine Stealth Arya are more analytical, intimate and thinner sounding.
I just demo’d these and a bunch of other HP around the same price, I think these are the best out for the $
Don’t quite get the soundstage inadequacies you found, seems great to my ears lol
I've been waiting for this video for so long. Thanks!
This review basically demonstrates why I have too many headphones. I enjoy the differences on separate occasions. Couldn't really settle for 1 sound signature as my only option.
Wait... is it much more like the Ananda right now or is the new Arya still on a league of its own?
its totally different than the Ananda, i tested both right here. The Anandas are a really GREAT headphone for the price bracket. But the Arya Stealth are even more detailed and don´t need to be put so loud to hear good details. I had the feeling that I needed to put the Anandas quite loud to hear good bass and so on.
But all in all the Anandas are great - if you have the extra money to spare go for Arya.
Price for Used V2 gonna bump up for sure. V2 have such soundstage that other than HD800 "Soundstage" have...no other give you that. V3 is like no special traits. Those character on V3 is like Focal Clear and Ananda.
Contemplating a pair of headphones that will best complement (contrast) with my beloved Focal Clears (with IFI IDSD Signature DAC streaming Tidal). Have tried Audeze LCD X and LCD XC--thoroughly enjoyed the way these punchy planars push the sound forward and capture the energy of all genres. Surprisingly, I was more attracted to the closed version which had a smaller stage but felt wonderfully immersive. Unfortunately, I have not been able to get my hands on a pair of Aryas (old or new) to test drive, and I don't want to pull the trigger until I hear the main competition at similar price point. Thoughts?
How many hours did you have on the Stealth version before doing this review? Wondering if maybe they weren’t fully broken in yet.
I think he reviewed them with less than 10hours burn in.
@@yasserouacha6299 which explains why his first impressions with the soundstage are such. I have heard people claim it fully opens up after 75-100 hours of burn in
@@h.hristov totally agree. It's my experience too.
burn in is a myth
I just got a replacement Arya stealth after there was painting falling off my magnets and attaching to the drivers (I can actually see it starting to happen on yours as well Joshua). I used my original Arya's for about 4k hours, and I was so surprised at how different the feel of the stealths are, it's a completely different headset! they feel a bit more sterile, but also more refined... I'm running it with a Woo audio WA11
Initial impressions of OG Arya v2 were mind blowing. It had a great soundstage, but sounds were also vertical and floated around. What I found though was it was very sensitive to the recording quality. Left me hot and cold. Some music my mouth was on the floor, then next song was meh or sounded really flat. Purchased Clears at same time to see which I liked more. To me both are a perfect HP combo. My budget only allowed for one to stay. Chose the Clears since they were balanced and everything sounded great. Huge hit on the soundstage though. Hence I think owning both is a great combo if you like changing out HP's depending on the music. Currently use three headphones - Clears, DT1990, and M570's. Change out when I get bored to keep them all fresh. Been using 1990's for the past month. So clear and luckily not sensitive to the treble spike. All three HP's impress me in different ways. If I had to have only one no question the Clears win (should be called Balanced). All decent HP's are clear usually.
The best fix for the Aryas is EQ. My Aryas sound amazing with a bass bump and a little attenuation in the upper mids. I think I’ll pass on the Stealth edition. I’m perfectly happy with the original Aryas.
So right! It's easy enough to fix any bass and treble issues with EQ. Can't do anything to bring back the loss of soundstage in the Stealth with EQ. I'll stick with the original.
@@Mark-fs7ok I use the Dolby Atmos app on Windows to do just that. It even has three custom eq's I can save to different headphones.
Uhm all the links in description are Stealth Version, according to their own titles. There's no V1 in the description?
Also, what you said at 3:40 about them not replacing the former Aryas, is false? I cannot find a single V1 for sale, and every single site already started selling the 2019 revision immediately upon release, and now this one has replaced the 2019.
This is really bad for me, because I want the original Arya so bad. I'd buy it literally right now if I could get my hands on a pair, at least if new and good. Now it seems like I'll never get my hands on one.
Thanks for another great review, Josh! Like you, I am a huge fan and very happy owner of the (standard) Arya. Its soundstage continues to enchant me. For acoustic/jazz/classical music, its frequency response is wonderful out of the box. For rock/pop music, I often use a touch of EQ to reduce the treble and boost the bass ever so slightly. It sounds like most of the changes in the stealthy Arya can be approximated by some additional EQ'ing. If that is correct, the standard Arya is the far better choice, due to its soundstage magic.
imo rock pop sounds better with visceral headphones like dt1990's audeze's etc
We are waiting to hear your thought on the 2023 Arya Organic stealths. We would love to hear your review.
Love the channel.
So stealth is closer to Ananda with its smaller/flat sound stage where i feel there is lack of depth in the music. for those who wants a closer/intimate sound just get the Ananda instead for more than half the price of the Arya.
You are right. Want more details may go for Focal Clear and definitely punch harder too.
It's possible that the stealth arya may actually have less soundstage than the ananda lmao
@@nortonfamily6711 🤣
The magnets on the inside of the cup, are they "stealth" magnets? I mean logic would kinda dictate that but the pictures I've been seeing (including this video) makes it look like they only fitted stealth magnets on the outside. Which would kinda make no sense to me at all but... I'm not a headphone designer. Does anyone know?
"stealth" is just referring to the way the magnets are arranged is what I'm assuming.
@@LarryActionGlass No, it's referring to the actual shape of the magnets. The sk "Stealth Magnets" are rounded off at an exact shape to minimize damage to the sound wave as they are exiting the magnet array. I havnt seen any clear picture, or have anyone describe the driver in detail yet. So I do not know. As I stated above, if the "Stealth magnets" are only positioned on the outside of the driver, that kind of breaks my logical thinking. And I'd be very curious to know why it is that way, IF it indeed is that way.
I'd like to know this as well. There aren't many good pictures out there, if any.
I’ve seen this video like 10 times already, and I still don’t know which to choose with my newly acquired THX 789. Joshua is my favorite reviewer so I can watch this vid 10 more to make up my mind.
I know many will disagree with me, but I am a strong believer in the idea that more closer a headphone gets to emulating reality, the worse the soundstage becomes. If you think about it, the speaker is right next to your head. A perfectly accurate headphone will soundstage right up to your ears and a perfectly accurate IEM will soundstage inside your head. The exception to this rule is if the song was engineered to have a wide soundstage; Yosi Horikawa is a prime example of an artist that often does this.
I got my Arya’s today. It does everything right and almost perfect. I agree that Soundstage is nothing special. Also running from Topping amp and MB Pro has no difference. It’s pretty easy to drive.
Compared to HD 800S, i find Sennheisers to be superior. I also had Clear Mg and LCD-X.
Personal preference will be
800 S = LCD-X > Arya
They are so contrast that both worth owning for me. LCD-X is fanstastic built headphone. Arya feels like toy.
I’ll be uploading video soon.
By all descriptions it sounds like the stealth is more studio focused, perhaps?
the way you describe it makes it sound like an entirely different headphone
So if it looses it’s amazing soundstage the LCD-X is the better buy over the stealth arya? Or get the focal clear mg?
If you want to get a clear and don't care about aesthetics just get the original for $1000. The original is quite literally just tuned better. The mg is weirdly dark, and thus enigmatic in the treble region. But yes, now that the stealth Arya has lost what made its presentation so special, I would either consider going with the v2 or an lcd-x 2021.
@@nortonfamily6711 thanks man! Currently using the ananda 2021. Hopefully my local dealer still has the v2 or i might just get the lcd-x as i always wanted to get an audeze headphone ever since i tried the lcd-3 and lcd-4 😅
Which is the better one for gaming?
is v1 and v2 sound the same?
stealth is v3 but he keep calling the ori Arya which is v1 or v2?
i'm assuming v1 is phased out?
Original would be the first which is V1. I don’t see how the V2 would be considered as original.
Oh, I saw this comment 2 years late. Sorry
Also, I believe from other reviews. The V2 is like the in between of V1 and V3. Has a bit more soundstage than the V3 but sounds less refined basically. I believe the mids are a little bit worse and bass is a bit less on the V2. It’s a little bit plasticky sounding compared to the V3.
V1 has a bit more soundstage but even a bit less refined.
waiting for arya se, arya se pro, sundara se pro max. Knowing how frequent hifiman update their products.
The held off on buying the Arya for all this time, because I knew as soon as I did Hifiman would update it or do a massive price drop, and this 2021 is how they reward my patience. The audacity. I'm definitely diamond hands for the Arya SE Pro Max now lmao.
Joshua, did you burn in this headphone before the review ?
I have seen people saying that it makes a ruge diference in sondstage particulary with Arya.
How does the Stealth compare to the LCD-X in the soundstage?
Hey Josh, How would you compare these to the Ananda in so far as the sound stage? I am also seeing these for 1279 new, tempting....
Hi Joshua, any plans to review the Austrian Audio HI-X65?
Is it worth upgrading Ananda to stealth or non-stealth Arya?
The real question is.. when is Sundara SE coming out?
Hi Joshua, thought I should say this. Your "Also Here" OG Arya link to apos.audio in the description is actually linked to the Stealth Magnet Version.
Ill be keeping my V2 Aryas. I love the soundstage. I already have focal clears (non MG) that has the bass and intimacy. Complete opposite of the aryas and HD800S. (which I also have) V2's sit right in the middle.
same direction going from focal clear to mg
Only speaking for myself, of course, but being drawn to soundstage myself, I think I would rather have the OG Arya and do a bit of EQing, thus keeping the soundstage it is known for. But then again, the Arya Stealth sounds like it naturally presents vocals with more grit, clarity. Which i also an drawn to. Honestly, i want both, but cannot afford both. I will sell my Ananda and buy one of the two... but which one?
Get og and eq
Immersion and thus soundstage is a huge plus for me so the og arya
The OG isn’t much wider.
Since I first started watching your video's I've been saving a bit at a time for a pair of these. I will be very sad if Hifiman phases out there older model Arya's for these new one's cause I trust your opinion. 😢
Focal Clear or HiFiMan Arya for reggae, EDM, rock, hip hop?? I have a Jotunheim 2 and Bifrost 2 that I’m looking for new headphones to pair with.
I have both the Clear and the Arya v2 and for those genres I would recommend the Clear. It has way more punch and slam in the bass, which I prefer for hip hop at least. In my opinion the big soundstage of the Arya can sometimes make it less engaging for hip hop. Arya can also get pretty harsh and fatiguing for poorly recorded rock songs. Clear has zero sibilance, at least for me. Soundstage is pretty small on the Clear though, but with those genres it doesn't bother me as much as with jazz or acoustic and classical music. I don't have any experience with the Jot 2 and Bifrost 2 though. I have read that they have pretty good punch and slam though, so that might help with the Arya! Hope this helps!
@@antonristo1096 I own the clear and Arya v2 as well, and I completely agree with you. The Clear is far more dynamic/punchy than the Arya is regardless of the amp, which greatly benefits more energetic genres like hip hop and EDM. I would go for the OG clear though, not the MG.
There's this push for linearity in audio and I think we're discovering linearity isn't very enjoyable. Especially when that push eliminates other enjoyable aspects of audio.
Josh, why don't you include some sound demos in your reviews? It would have been nice to compare the two.
Because it's literal garbage content?
@@LarryActionGlass What do you mean?
Auto generated subtitles are kinda wild here for some reason 😂 came back to see this review, as the headphones are on sale and just noticed.
Sadly I think the Arya v2 are discontinued… if not they have been out of stock for a long time. So much for getting to choose between the v2 and the v3.
Would it be possible to listen to the old Arya (not stealth) via mobile and a external dac like chord mojo? Or does it need heavier amp then that?
You will need a desktop amp for sure. For reference, my asgard 2 with 1000 mA at 32 ohms was not enough to fully drive these. It was about 90% there, but the bass was definitely less than it should have been.
Your link goes to the stealth version now. It looks like they changed their amazon page itself to say stealth ;_;
How much breaking in did you do?
I don't think he completed the 150 hours+ recommended.
Man! Was just looking into these. And your vid pops up.
they should do an Arya but 300 Ohm impedance... for all people with OTL heaphone amp
There's no 300ohm planar driver.
Original arya with a good R2R dac, class A or tubes, is a blissful experience
The Arya is way too expensive for me, but I've been eyeing the Sundara 2020 revision for a while now. Should I pull the trigger or wait for the stealth magnet version (if it even exists?)
Wait for it...see if the SE good on Sundara or not....so far, 400 and Arya fail to do so.
@@ntraxmartin based on those 2 revisions, seems like it's unlikely to improve the Sundara either then!
@@ThePCForever I have little hope..but I still hope it get through it, as in looking forward to that too.
Take Sundara now, or Edition XS, i have Sundara and it's just better in everything compared to my 6xx. So Sundara is excellent choice
If the Arya didn't look so cheap in build quality the chance of me buying one would be so much higher. I feel they should have updated the original Arya, but with a premium build quality instead of diffusing their offering with putting two cans on the market with equally non convincing build quality but different sound characteristics. Especially since the original has something 'special' which seems to be lost now. Bad marketing and product development choice in my book.
Have you heard the Stealth version? Or did you arrive at your conclusions based on one persons subjective review?
@@irondad007 Bit of gravedigging coming back to this comment, but I thought about it since I received the Ayra Stealth today. Although I still feel basically the same about making the offering more diffuse for potential buyers (for instance, over here in the Netherlands you don't see both versions being sold in parallel, but most just offer the Stealth now. I don't think it's a good approach. I have to say though, I'm positively surprised by the build quality of the Stealth though. (I hadn't held or listened to either Ayra before, so you have a point, I acknowledge I was echoing out of some frustration without handson experience ). The reason I chose the Stealth is I'm very fond of the imo exceptional Sundara's so I've had the feeling the Ayra would be an excellent upgrade for me. I'm really glad I did. Even without a proper burn in I could instantly tell this indeed is a next level over the Sundara's. Although this reviewer compares to his reference the Ayra, he seems quite disappointed about soundstage. Without the bias, I would say that doesn't mean it has a bad stage. It still is very good. The build quality and comfort are pretty good , with sturdier material pads than the Sundara. Although Í would've like metal casing, the plastic look isnt TOO bad and the weight reduction makes it worth it. Gonna do a lot of testing, but I'm glad I made the jump and I don't feel I'm missing anything, au contraire.
Hi Josh, what are those black speakers that you are using for your TV?
Thanks Joshua for this great review! Do you think the original Arya can be driven by a somewhat powerful DAP like A&K's original Kann? Or are we talking about iFi's Diablo crazy power to get the most of them...
I live for Joshua's reviews!
I just pulled myself away from HD 800s reviews to find the Arya. It seems it had the bass I was looking for without sacrificing as much of the soundstage and imaging as its competition. Now its apparently been replaced by this stealth model.
I have never tried an audiophile headphone but the more i watch these videos the more I start to pick up one consistent pattern: little boost in treble and little dip in base provide good soundstage as to where flat and fair frequency responce gives a very forward and close tipe of sound and it's freaking logical. Lower frequencies don't project as far as high ones, so the further a sound source is the less base and comparatively the more highs you'll hear. imagine speaking into a microphone. If you keep your mouth close you hear more base in your voice. So the bottom line is there's always a trade off when tunning headphones.
While that's a fair observation, soundstage isn't exclusively a product of frequency response. The Arya v2 still retains its soundstage, even when EQed to a more harman-esque curve, for example. I suspect the main reason for the reduced soundstage on the Arya is the fact that the inner magnet array interferes less with the waves produced by the transducer. Soundstage is quite literally a distortion, after all.
Oh, man, I could really see on your face how much it hurt you when you were talking about the soundstage on the Stealth 😫😫
I really do see he is holding back and not fully shit on it.
Joshua you need to get a HE6-se (V2 - Adroama) going off your comments & comparisons. I have one to compliment my Arya V2 for those reasons you say you liked the Stealth. But i do need to say my Arya V2 2021 model seems to sound different that yours. Bit closer to the stealth in some ways but all the main OG benefits like Soundstage open & tall e.t.c.
Why choose between the benefits, just get the Susvara. Better version of both. Make sure you get a good amp tho!
Alternatively, you could get a used car.
@@nortonfamily6711 If you're buying a new susvara and an amp to go with it you're looking at about 10k at the least. I'd guess the people buying susvaras aren't buying used cars that cost 10k.
Which of the headphones Arya V3, HE 1000 V2 and HE 1000 SE would you recommend for listening to classical music?
can u fix this with EQ for the original Arya?
So how would this compare to the 800s vs. the old one? I know the old Arya was considered harder to drive than the 800s due to it’s db/mw, and I’m curious if that’s still the case.
Ooh, which compound bow, are you shooting Joshua? I see release on your b roll shot.
I am gonna go with the V2 for sure then. Thanks.
Looks like the OG links in the description go straight to the stealth magnet version now. Anyone have a link to the original V2s?
how good are the imaging in these compared to the HD800S?
How do they compare to HE-500? I have theses since almost 10 years now and looking to maybe upgrade
Hello. Please tell me in the video you can see that the headphones are connected to the Topping D 30 Pro + Topping A 30 Pro. Is that true? Do I understand correctly? will there be a review of this pair soon ?
I have the stealth HE1000SE and 2020 Aryas in case anyone has any additional questions between the two.
Which do you like more?
Which has bigger SS?
@@johnius92 I feel like the treble clarity of the HE1000SE is superior for sure. I actually think the Arya is the best bang for buck with incredible layering and instrument separation though. Both seem to provide much more bass slam than I had expected but just so clear and resolving.
Really looking for a review of the Deva Pro! There’s no content out for it yet and I just picked up a pair, I’m really excited about it
This is what happens when some headphone reviewers (not you, Josh!!) judge headphones too much based on the Harman. Makers get influenced by a community demanding a freq-response closer to the target. It's just sad...
Those SVS Tower still doing you good Josh? Which dac and amp you paired it with?
Thanks for the great vid review looking for a good soundstage and imaging
Question: The Arya (org.) got a larger sound stage than the Ananda but does the Arya stealth than have the same or smaler soundstage than the Ananda? When smaler how small does it gets? dt1990 like or even smaler like 650 senheiser?
I think Josh exaggerated the SS hit. It's still wider than Ananda and you gain much more in SQ than you lose in SS
@@AliArghavan you're right
how do you think they lost soundstage? i thought soundstage was made by the size adn shape of the headphone mostly and thats stayed the same
Planars have magnets that have effect of a pillow if you put it on your ear.
Without negative effects of magnets it sounds clearer, more resolving, less distant aka more forward sounding.
Stealth magnets hence the word removes side effects of planars.
Soundstage is quite literally a distortion, albeit a positive one. If the inner magnet array interferes less with the waves produced by the transducer, the sound would intuitively be clearer/more correct, which entails a reduced sense of soundstage.
@@nortonfamily6711 would you say then that high end resolving headphones like the focal clear that don't realyl soundstage all that wel las just as resolving as the HD800s and Arya but just in another way then
@@marcelplummer395 Yeah I mean don't get me wrong, just because I call soundstage a distortion and less accurate to the sound file itself doesn't mean that headphones with exceptional soundstage resolve detail more poorly. The Arya is just as, if not more resolving than something like the Focal Clear (I own both the Arya and the Clear, and while the Arya separates better than the Clear, I wouldn't say either one is necessarily more detailed than the other).
