Been collecting mangave for quite a few years now. Have a dozen different types, all kept inside for the winter. They do wonderful, though some do take up precious space!
I'll give some highlights from my time growing:
Pineapple Express grows like a weed, and takes whatever you can throw at it. Would do great as an annual once you get a good clump.
Praying Hands(This one has got to be my favorite, 'hands' down!),
Moonglow, Sponge Paint, Purple People Eater all look great through the Winter and do well spending warm days outside and the cooler seasons on a Southern (or very bright) windowsill.
I have a Cherry Chocolate Chip Manfreda growing happily on my East facing window, only receiving a few hours of direct sun each morning.
Bad Hair Day has gone through several hard frosts and even down to zero Fahrenheit out in my plastic greenhouse with other cacti and succulents.
If you are looking for 'houseplant' varieties, stick with the smaller types, turn them often and water them only when dry. Larger varieties(Falling Waters, Jumping Jacks, Desert Dragon for example) will look a little ragged towards the end of Winter, but do fine with cutting off the oldest leaves once Spring arrives. Thanks for the video!

Just got my first three specimens less than three weeks ago from Mountain Crest Gardens in California via postal service. Potted them up day after arrival. Small plugs (no pots) so just a small investment if they do not fare well. They do have seemed to plumped up after potting. There are a couple of black leaved ones I would like yet but will see how these fare over winter in basement under grow lights.

I wonder where Dyckia fits into the mix ? Saw one recently and now wishing I had brought it home. Looked like the same family off plants.
