The second one is the best, I think is the same guy that transcribed a Jacob Collier's solo on "The Flintstones" for guitar. Outstanding timing and precision.
He also transcribed Cory Henry's solo in "Lingus"

Absolute monster but too many notes too fast dosn't necessarily cut it. Being more humble and selective having those skills will take him further. The first kid...man, that's beautifully gnarly

Technically by far, joshua meader wins it. Reminds me of shawn lane and holdsworth. But compositionally I think the first one was the most interesting so he wins.

ye ppl mostly admire speed but those are shredders xD to me personally it has to be melodically satisfying ... 2 chords played slowly together fitting perfectly is on a whole different level from 50 chords played in 16ths where just 2 or 3 of those 50 sit uniquely well xD

#4 played perfectly for the record itself. #1 or #2 were def the most skilled renditions. I'd def go with #4 for a recording though.
How is nobody talking about the last one? Beautiful phrasing and smooth jazzy sound compared to the others. All are amazing but I had to recognize the last.

Undoubtedly Asian Monster UNDA deserves a first position, he was so fluid flawless technical and at the same time melodic. Very interesting while listening as well as seeing , fabulous playing.
The last two HUSA & LIAM is very interesting entry , very enjoying and different expression.
IMHO, the 1st prize is very well deserved. The phrasing and note selection are amazing. It's some sort of mix between augmented scales and messiaen modes. Very good!!
3rd had a very bluesy feel, liked it more. Meader is a beast as usual. But the 1st one roared like no other.

Apart from technique (2nd), I think there should be dynamics, space, melody, counterpoint. For me 1st and 3rd where the best (3rd best melodic content, my favourite)
Totally agree... the 2nd one sounded perfectly clean playing ALL of those notes, but I didn't enjoy the solo at all lol... but the 1st one for me had like the best vibe and sounding solo for the song... 3rd is very close too. But that's my opinion :p

I'm only going by how it matched the track.. and for me, #3 had it. First two obliterated him from a technical standpoint.. but I found his the most listenable and catchy.

I feel like the 3rd solo is the solo that melds with the Animals as leaders sound the best and is my favourite. the 1st one is a very close too!

All impressive, but: Unda and Husa (1st & 4th) we’re the best for their tonal accuracy to the song imo
1st and 4th one are the best onesss
1 and 4 were miles ahead for me on first listen. i loved 4’s musicality, and it meshed so well with the track, and number 1 just crashed out of the gate swinging, and i never forgot that performance the entire way through. found myself subconsciously comparing everyone to them before i knew it until number 4!
The #4 has more soul and gives dimension to the track imo
But not that extraordinary if compared to first, second, and third winner
1st guy just killed it. He is clean as fuck and there's a sense of development his idea/solo.
2nd its cool, aesthetically pleasing technique, not the greatest tone for the track (imho)
3rd has great melodic content and sense of rhythm, really interesting take!!
4th was cool. Good Sound and melodic ideas and he kept it interesting
5th as cool and correct as the notes might be, sound does come into play, sowhis "jazzy" melodies sound a bit out of place. Probably because of the phrasing intention/sound/dynamics.

Husa was smooth as hell, tone was perfect, blended really well, casual approach really paid off. Dude was my winner. But all were worthy of top 5!

So many young and amazing guitarists
1st one was interesting composition, 2nd was wow, 3rd guy was able to make those notes sound so perfect. 4th guy had a melodic style but I guess it kinda didn’t go well with the backing track. If he had a backing track that sounds like the rhythm in Plini, he’d do good. 5th guy jazzed his way and damn tasty licks everywhere.
i actually like number 4 the most hahaha.. i like his melodic approach, he sings to the chord progression lel. but maybe not tough enough to win contest like this.

man Meader about to blow up. heard of him last month and since then seen his videos pop up everywhere. guy cam play. his giant steps was on point too. that last three seconds of his solo, where most guys just bend and fade... was insane.

Love how the first guitarist really underlined the backings rhythms with his accents. And this is no small feat considering how syncopated and odd these are.

1st one is structured well with the beat, 2 sounds/feels like he's just playing fast and doesn't have the feel and emotion like the first one, same for 3, 4th guy plays with feel, last guy sounds good too
