Just a thought for the glow powder next time. Do a layer of glow powder and glue in the channel first. Then turn it flat with the lathe and lay the components on top of that. That might make for a cleaner look between the components and the nfc chip.

Awesome. I always wanted to have a ring with some kind of pcb-ish design in it. Many years ago I had a dream: I'd have liked to have a ring with a chip in it (just to show, not functional or anything) with one of those early microprocessors - you know, one of those eeproms with the little window to erase them with uv light.

This is fantastic, Patrick - thanks. The first male jewelry (decorative wearable) I've seen, and functional too. I've subscribed and look forward to exploring more of your interesting world. On a safety though - you should never touch a lathe chuck when it's spinning. And putting your finger INSIDE it? Really - don't do it. If it catches it will rip out your entire finger along with the tendon up to your elbow and not even blow the fuse. I hope you'll leave this up - or - delete it but add your own safety message. Wouldn't want anyone to get really hurt like this. But - thanks so much again, for this video.
docslick9988 Hey docslick - thanks. But it doesn't have to be spinning fast to snag you and before your brain has had the third of a second it needs to realise it and the rest of the time it needs to react, your finger is no longer attached. But when we make videos there's a tendency to imply things are safe for others to do without ever intending to, so I think we need to be a bit more aware of the safety of others who may copy us.
Next time you do something like this, you can lay the circuit board parts upside down on tape to orient them the way you want to, put adhesive on the ring mixed with glow powder, then role the tape onto the ring. then it dries, remove the tape and your golden.

Very nice ring, but... radioactive tritium beta energy is about 18keV, which gives it a penetration of ~ 0.5mm through carbon. That's not quite the safety margin I'd be comfortable with for something worn close to your body. I suggest a layer of copper foil/tape underneath the emitter. If nothing else, you might get some neat internal discharge sparks under the microscope! (Note: this not a rigorous evaluation. It's been a long time since I studied radiation.)

Put some copper coils in it and some LEDs so it lights up when you put it on a wireless charging pad.
