  • The TLX-S has a ton of great performance capability but as our track testing has confirmed the brakes are an area where the most immediate benefit can be derived.
    The absolute best rotors you can get are from RB Performance (we know them as Racingbrake). The patented features these rotors offer make them second to none. Th

    The veins and the ‘pumping’ action You’re talking about is very similar to how a fire engine pumps water. It uses essentially a giant veined brake rotor (usually made of brass) and instead of pumping air, they pump water. Cool stuff!

    I've always been a fan of girodiscs two-piece rotors. They are so nice to look at. RB two piece is something I want to try but I would hate to spend the $3k for pads and rotors and not like them for my RCF... I wish they would have options for the hat color. Being black is just so stock looking. Doesn't have to be in your face but it would be nice to have an option of a little color. That's one of the reasons I love GiroDiscs, the hat is a pretty blueish/gray color.

      We've always had good success with RB parts. The color I guess is a matter of preference. Some pop is nice but the calipers give plenty of pop for me.

    Should have sanded the paint off the rotor surface. You don't want those paint to bond to the brake pads. Cool videos. Love the show.

      Thanks for the comment! The suggestion isn't actually necessary. On bedding the pads the paint is burned away never to return.

    Do the new RB rotors come with a new rotor screw? Or do you have to go get those on your own?

    • @Heeltoe.

      Throw them away. Don't look back.

    I’m looking at getting the racing brake TL type S rotors and it says “RB 2 piece rotors w/Brembo caliper”. I’m assuming it comes with a new caliper but for $832 it seems kind of cheap and I can’t find any more info on it

    • @Heeltoe.
      @Heeltoe.  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for checking ou the site! Not quite right. The rotors title says "RACINGBRAKE 2-PIECE BRAKE ROTOR SET, FRONT &REAR, 4PC, 2021+ ACURA TLX (TYPE-S SPEC BREMBO)" That means it is a 2-piece rotor set, for TLX with Brembo calipers.

    i’m considering the upgrade. can you comment on their noise level vs OEM? are they about the same? I’ve heard slotted rotors can be noisy

    • @Heeltoe.
      @Heeltoe.  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      These are awesome rotors for sure. They do not make squeaking noise but there is a little more groan getting on and off the pedal from stock. The friction is higher on the RB pads and rotors. but normal driving, no noise.

    Would this setup cross over to a 24 mdx type s advance? reducing unsprung weight is always a major plus

    Do you know if 19” stock Acura rims would clear those calipers?Thanks.

    • @Heeltoe.

      They should yea, but might need spacers to clear the spokes. See our spacers video on the channel also.

      @@Heeltoe. That's great to hear. I want something that's a bit of an upgrade from stock but will still work nicely with the factory 17-in wheels. It doesn't necessarily have to be the quad pistons with the two-piece rotors because I think you have to have 18s or 19s for those, and where I live. Hitting a pothole with 19s or even 18's will result in a very large repair bill.

    2 year old car and using a chisel on the brake hold screw? Get a snap on impact driver and bit. Mine's been in the shop 5 years...the bit broke once.

      I've been using this same chisel for 20 years. It's never broken. Numerous impact bits and drivers have.
