@@nando_ugt Futuna didn't push them off they defeated the Tongans. As was the case for some of Tuvaluan islands that defeated Tongans who came to their shores around the 16th century. Uvea also eventually rebelled against Tonga free themselves

The first is exactly like the Tongan language. Understood everything perfectly.😍
Thats because they have connection to tonga😂
because Wallis=Tonga
Futuna=Samoa
Thank you for sharing so many Pacific languages!
very nicely done great quality video!
it makes sense why they are similar, they are related
NO WAY!!!
@@sdominik3945 I KNOW RIGHT!!!1!1!1
I’m Samoan and understood that. But some of the words are different. Love the uniqueness of our Pasifika neighbors. One Love
one sounds tongan influenced
the other sounds samoan influenced
its so interesting

Because it has it own culture
Futuna aren't really from Samoa because they have really big differences
@@AloisiaVaitulukina The Futunans say their ancestors are from Samoa and Tonga....They are not from there directly but if you trace their history and lineage , you will find, yes you guessed it, Samoan and Tongan roots
Oh my gosh! They are so similar.
Are they dialects?
yes they are
is the word "selo" (heaven) of Spanish origin? ("cielo" - heaven)
could be, because France colonized them
On utilise le mot " Selo " qui vient du mot " Ciel " en français pour parler du paradis et quand on veut parler du ciel, alors on dira " Lagi "

It's like 2 dialects of 1 language.
It's because all Polynesian languages are similar it's the same people
I love Polynesian languages and cultures
As a Samoan Tongan.
I understand both but the Futuna is very close to Samoan language its crazy.
Hugs from Brazil. Wonderful vídeo.

No them names were already there😂 get your history together. Uveans say Tongans copied their culture same thing said with samoans and fijians.
Tonga Lapita Origin Settlement 😊
Wallisian had more Tongan influence and Futuna has more Samoan influence. So cool
maybe cause they are their ancestor ?
Only some word cause Samoa doesn't say ma'anu but kaele and it's has different dance and words and culture
Futuna it's way different from Samoa and they're not related
Both languages sound strikingly similar to Tokelauan
Walis and Futuna has 34 islands I counted,
Can you do something about one popular constructed language "Ido"
This language is somewhat similar to the language of my tribe, the Sasak tribe, Indonesia - Lombok
If Uvea settled Futuna 300~ years ago, that's actually quite a lot of shifts!
Because of their similarities, Uveans and Futunans can speak and understand each other 😊 🇼🇫
basically same language
I think they have different dialects
Andy, you as a Filipina, can you understand some of the languages?

Add tongan and samoan and niuafo'ou to that list..
Yeah I'd love to see this
Similar to Samoan
Samoa is the ancestor of Futuna
Just Futunan belongs to the Lima Gang... 😭
Well, "nima" is close enough - [n] and [l] are easily switched across languages.
