- Arriving in Florence the Camper Van, we are joined by hiking friends 2 Feet Forward and Peter Allen. We leave the comfort of the van for a hike and an overnight stay in Moel Prysgau Bothy in the Elan Valley, Wales.

It was fantastic to bump into you at the Bristol Galleries (the mall) today.
I love all your youtube videos, which are always very enjoyable to watch.
I must admit I was a little tongue tied, it's not everyday you meet people who you watch on youtube, even though i didn't say much, just saying hello to you guys made my day !
I hope to get a van in the future but that is a little way of at the moment.

Beautiful British countryside. When I hiked around in Scotland I loved staying in bothies. Wish you happy trails.
I bet there are some incredible bothies in Scotland, I can't believe we haven't made it there yet!
Explorer Buddies Scotland is great for hiking. Some bothies were great, other were almost ruines. Usually I camped out in my tent.

Stayed overnight yesterday (Dec 2019) with 2 friends - "not popular" my arse! Lol
Shout out to Scottish Stevie the fire hero, the Utrecht couple, and the 5 English lads who all had the same idea as us.....cozy night.
Honourable mention to the 4 girls a guy and a dog who popped by but moved on.
Can confirm, VERY boggy.
Can also confirm very achy today.
I think it can be hit and miss on how busy it can get, one thing for certain is that’s it’s always boggy 😂😂

Wales is so striking its a lot of landscape packed into such a small area, the scale of the scenery is so different when... i look out my windows i can literally see mountain ranges on all sides stretching for 60 miles ranging from 9500' to 11500'feet and we just got back from ice skating on a reservoir on the upper Missouri river that is 20 miles long and a couple wide thanks for sharing your lovely region

Cheers Les, a Bothy is definitely an experience, loved waking up to those surroundings. Always improvements to be made, you learn as you travel. Any song in particular? Will need to take a look at the file to find the titles 😊

Another great video, thanks. You might want to think about putting some pipe insulation round your gas pipes to protect the soft copper pipe from stone damage.

Love your van, it really is an all season van now. You just need some snow chains LOL
You need to swop out that PWM charge controller for a MPPT one and get more charge from the 100w panel - I can recommend EpEver tracer

Hey, not sure now, was a long time ago we made this film and don’t have the original project anymore. The music is from Epidemic sound though and is only available by license to content creators.
That's not Elan Valley where you stayed in your van, that;s the top of Llyn Brianne near Nantystalwyn.
No wonder that bothy was abandoned. lol!

That LPG gas tank looks really vulnerable if you are 'rear ended' in a crash, or even if you are reversing. I know you have put a lot of work in fitting this, but you are such a nice couple, so it mght be worth thinking about moving it. Apart from that another enjoyable video, I can't wait to get out and about.
Appreciate your feedback. It’s a tricky one as there is nowhere else we can fit it. Lots of other stuff going on under the van. We had to remove the waste tank to fit the LPG.

Do you have to pay for the bovy and book it ? Also who maintains it e.g toilets gas and upkeep of building? !!
No you don’t have to pay. It’s maintained by the mountain bothies association. You don’t have to book at this bothy, others you do. There are no facilities, no toilet, no gas, no electric.

Great video as usual but I'd be concerned about rats or mice in that little house, I wouldn't be able to sleep.
If you had sat quietly in the woods you walked up behind the house you would stand a good chance of seeing red squirrels

What sort of fuel economy do you get from Florence?

LPG was the move we made. If you can find it at a good price there’s probably about a 20-30% saving to be had. It’s not 50% cheaper any more, LPG has gone up in price
When youu say "Elan Valley" it is certainly NOT helen valley? , Say "E" first then "Lan" valley, thus Elan Valley simples!
why would you not replace the wood in the Bothy,? imagine the last person hadnt replaced it, very selfish and dangerous :(
Not sure what you are talking about but we spent ages cutting up wood to replace, it’s in the film 🤦🏻♀️
