They released info, based on the info in the explainer you can expect on a win to earn like 2-3 shards for a character per war, give or take. (They said shards would be about 180 per and a win gives you between 400-600 currency.)
I would say this game mode probably incentivises mono factions. When you need to bring 25 instead of 5, you may as well benefit from existing faction buffs when you put your team together.
Well so far it looks like arena with added effects. Ai defending the bases means, that 1 attack can easily defeat a position. Maybe here having diamond 3 characters defend can do most of the work.
The important difference from arena is on the strategic level of how to use the guild. And that looks extremely challenging! The various buffs to defenders, not least the +60% health, means the attacking teams need to be stronger than the defending teams.

It would also incentivize rounding them out. Problem I'm having though is resource starvation; want to play with all the cool new things, but we've had resources taken away (bring back legendary books in battle pass and 3 legendary orbs on the 10xdrop pod please!) and there are WAY to many characters to feed with the amount of resources we currently get. I have entire factions that are barely upgraded at all because I feel like I can't afford to lose focus on my main characters

Would be nice to have a lower level. I've been playing daily for over 6 months, I am level 36 and I cannot max out an epic slot with 5 gold characters. But I'm the strongest in my guild. Half my guild will struggle to field 1 team of Bronze 1's. Looks like it'll be loads of fun, but we are going to get stomped in a 1 sided massacre fairly often. We have 30 members, 27 are currently active daily.
Thank you Nandi. Explains guild war mechanics well. Like that Rotbone is a reward since he is important to LREs and unfarmable. Having LRE core characters is a great way to incentivize participation. Would like this to be permanent. As a 3 month player who still hasn’t requisitioned a single Isabella shard, it would be great to have an opportunity at Isabella before the 3rd Ragnar event. also okay if devs prefer her in a different mode such as guild shop. I know others who are Rotbone and Isabella less like me feel the same.
Thanks for a great intro for Guild War! Fullt agree that it would be great to have an incentive to bring fill faction lists, like an extra reward. Nothing game changing but a small ”push in that direction”.
for the devs. a cool idea would be having faction based terrain you can choose at the start of the war. for example a tau terrain could do a single railgun attack that does percantage damage to the highest hp charachter
I wonder if guild wars could borrow from the existing LRE framework whereby using characters with certain specific traits confers battlefield combat bonuses, and then these traits can be combined with combat bonuses conferred by specific traits also stacking as a result if 5-man character teams meet multipe traits. These bonsues would apply to both defenders and attackers equally. This would add a very deep strategic layer to guild wars, which is why most of us play Tacticus!
Best way to incentivize using entire factions in GW would be introducing GW-specific faction buffs. For example, certain factions might have bonuses when attacking or defending certain building types. As an example, perhaps Orks, literally chomping at the bit to charge into battle, would deal bonus damage + increased crit rate to Frontline buildings (only). Or bonuses for certain factions when attacking another faction. Or do it like Marvel Strike Force: introduce GW-specific *individual* character buffs that are only effective in GW which would incentivize pure faction (or more creative) team building for GW. The second option would be more work for Snoworint but allow greater variety / flexibility.
Thanks for the walkthrough. Interesting that a guild could full clear opponent twice. I’m hoping Guild Wars doesn’t exhaust folks that aren’t able to commit as much time each day. Seems like the timeframes might be manageable though.
I have a question for you,Nandi, if I attack one enemy position with my current team set up. When I finish the attack that team will no longer be available throughout the guild war. I speak from my experience playing Marvel strike force a few years ago. That had same mechanics.

Does a row have to get completely cleared? Or could someone just charge right down a column? How much freedom do you have in shuffling the building positions?
Like already said below a fraction bonus for taking characters from the same fraction would be sweet an give another dynamic to the game. Also, a 6th character for each fraction would give heaps of combo options.
@Nandi. An overview on What chars against what building in their effectiveness would be great. And what about the artillery? Is it 9hits or 9x1 hit? That is a huge problem in Arena, and frustrating if it goes straight to Guild wars, that Camouflage, Tall grass and Big target have no effect against 1 hit attacks.
There is something I'm not sure I am getting. Defence teams have a given rarity, and they are downscaled as needed. The question is, do attacking works the same? When attacking a rare-defended position, are your attackers downscaled to rare too? Or you can attack with a legendary diamond 3 calgar and hope to single clear?
Hello Nandi, I'm trying to understand how to set up the defensive positions. If you could outline which defensive positions should be in the back and which should be in the front. It's been a while since you've done this video and it seems there's been some changes. So in a general way from my understanding put the medical stations in the back and my team members with legendary characters also in the back. I don't know why I'm so confused even after watching your video but I'm still trying to understand the best way to set up my guilds defensive and position my team members. If you could in a concise way tell me which positions should be in the front and the back that would be awesome. And am I right to understand that my most powerful teammates should be defending the back positions? I hope I'm formulating this question in a way that you can answer it best. Thanks!
One thing I would really love to see is that we can be able to replay onslaught levels I mean if I get a character that is only obtainable through pulls for example roswitha I must farm her but let's say my imperial team is on the 30th section she will eventually die and left a space in the team to be filled with a random unit So, why not instead have the opportunity to replay those past levels and getting the amount that is supposed to give (lower levels lower the rewards) just saying cuz as a f2p is starting to get hard going through onslaught:/
my guild playing level 1 and it is very hard. i meant, we don't have a lots of unit. sooo... from my understanding what i can see. most of black templar does melee combat. if it is possible for one solo character with first strike can wipe em out? im not sure if i should worry about imperium guard shooting since champion black templar will chase em and the rest who got close to him are dead
I would love to be able to pick the AI units to defend myself with. Like Tyranids or Eldar or Orks. Or Even being able to pick bases that work for units in your building like Tyranids have ripper spawn points or Eldar having healing spaces.
Another question. Arena tickets go slower and can keep more, but do I still need 95 wins/season to open up chest? And how often will guild wars occur? The exhaustion of active players and punishment of a guild with players that aren’t 100% active is a real danger.
Buzzing for this, it's been a long time coming. Re faction bonus that should be a thing that impacts all elements of the game. At the moment there is not much incentive to bring a matching roster.
How do we adjust teams into different areas? Our team just placed people randomly as we had nooo idea what was going on. Now we want to place our best people in the correct areas... however we have nooooo idea how to do this amd our teams are placed seriously bad, with all our best dudes on the front line 🤷♂️

Thx for explaining. So you have 25 Chars to use for def and you can only use those 25 Chars to attack right? If you have 10 attack token though, you can only attack 5 times with the full team, meaning you would only be able to attack 10 times with teams of less then 5. let's say 5 times with 2 Chars and 5 times with 3 Chars. Correct?
Maybe i am an idiot but i am just wondering can one player deploy to more than one zone. As in could a Player deploy 3 teams of 5 in one location and 2 teams of 5 to another location or even more. or is it that once a player selects a location they are locked there they can only deploy their 25 units there.

Just to Necro the comments, a faction bonus, maybe 5% bonus for going all one baseline, ie. Imperial, Xenos, Chaos. Or a 25% bonus if your team is Mono Subfaction, like, UltraMarines, Orks, Black Legion.

I just want an economoc balance of the game to be able to progress faster and catch up with all these new hero release events. Be friendly in giving currencies. Having to farm and grind books xp and materials took way too long.
I would recommend making a video of a mock battle where sectors are attacked. I've watched this video twice and still don't understand the flow of a war.
Character shards for rewards us boring. I would love exp books and badges as well. I woukd extremely love if i coukd get legendary items like medallion resolute or sanctified weapon oils as well.
I'm just worried this will turn into other games where guild war just turns into a bunch of redundant meta defenses and everyone's setting up the same meta teams...
don't take it as complaning, it isa good update but before making such an effort to bring this game mode wouldn't it be better to bring friendly matches and make available plyaing against your friends or who ever you want? personally i would prefer playing against nandi rather than his guild.
Worst game mode ever. It‘s complete a55. They developed it for over 6 months and then they come up with such a waste of time… upgrade and downgrade of your Champions is unclear, in game chat for only communication tool is insane!!!!, rules are not balanced (WTF 60% HP bonus for defending Team… hey that‘s fun…) and so on. Getting wrecked with your team even tho having double the might is just insane game design. Applaus. What a fun way of playing tacticus… I‘ll never ever participate in this mode again. Never! Hope my guild is not kicking me out but I am not supporting this BS a55 mode again. What a waste of time and hype.

Agree - having a bonus applied for bringing a mono faction to offset the benefit of cherry picking the stronger hero’s would be great!

the problem with this is that not all factions have full roster, and that not all factions mesh together equally

The Devs have replied and said that exp books will be there! I just didn't have it in my shop screenshot.

A fog of war would add difficulty, make it harder for the opponent to target specific lanes first; sight could be similar to source buff AoE

Does battlefield level modifier affect points gained for clearing a slot, i.e., on BF lv2 is frontline 15k points instead of 10?

I would like the responsibility of forming your defense shared with officers as a guild leader. I feel guilty being the only one in control.
Mate a full faction bonus should be added really anyway to all modes.
If you have 5 of the same faction give them some sort of super synergy.
I am afraid this can easily be overdone. So much so that it forces mono factions, and there is too little room for creativity in line-up compositions.

I just want an economoc balance of the game to be able to progress faster and catch up with all these new hero release events. Be friendly in giving currencies. Having to farm and grind books xp and materials took way too long.

yes, a character can be used for both def and offense - but only once on each mode. (ie. can only defend once and attack once)

I would recommend making a video of a mock battle where sectors are attacked. I've watched this video twice and still don't understand the flow of a war.
It's hard to do on the test server because there are so few of us!

Character shards for rewards us boring. I would love exp books and badges as well. I woukd extremely love if i coukd get legendary items like medallion resolute or sanctified weapon oils as well.
I'm just worried this will turn into other games where guild war just turns into a bunch of redundant meta defenses and everyone's setting up the same meta teams...

don't take it as complaning, it isa good update but before making such an effort to bring this game mode wouldn't it be better to bring friendly matches and make available plyaing against your friends or who ever you want? personally i would prefer playing against nandi rather than his guild.

Worst game mode ever. It‘s complete a55. They developed it for over 6 months and then they come up with such a waste of time… upgrade and downgrade of your Champions is unclear, in game chat for only communication tool is insane!!!!, rules are not balanced (WTF 60% HP bonus for defending Team… hey that‘s fun…) and so on. Getting wrecked with your team even tho having double the might is just insane game design. Applaus. What a fun way of playing tacticus…
I‘ll never ever participate in this mode again. Never!
Hope my guild is not kicking me out but I am not supporting this BS a55 mode again. What a waste of time and hype.
