    Talk about ignoring the elephant in the room. Not a word about those high temps. Come on guys, why spend money on tire and brake upgrades only for the car to overheat after a single lap?

      Thanks for watching! This video just shows what we got up to during our trip to the Nürburgring, we'll be diving deep into the high-temperatures in a future video, we've been heavily looking into it since we've got back from Germany and it is on our priority list. Is 150 degree normal? Or is there something that needs to be done to it?

    • @psycheout4733
      @psycheout4733 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Not normal. Occurs way too fast especially for a 8/10ths lap. There's something wrong with the car and they're simply not going to address the issue.

    • @DreamAutomotive
      @DreamAutomotive  ปีที่แล้ว

      We'll definitely be working hard to bring those temperatures right down, 150C is very hot! We'll be doing videos in the future looking at the temperatures as well as discussing what needs to be done, developing an oil cooler is the obvious go to at the minute!

    • @Vermonstered

      @@DreamAutomotiveOil cooler is NOT the obvious thing. Figure out why your car is so ridiculously hot relative to other same model cars! Modifying on top of bad mods isn't the answer.

    How is the Powerflex insert with the OEM rear mount? I had the PRL rear motor mount, but that adds a decent amount of NVH with the air con on.

    8ts a bit conerning the oil was at 150 degrees, and the coolant 120. Is there an issue with the car, or does it just overheat on circuit?

    • @DreamAutomotive
      @DreamAutomotive  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The K20C1 powered cars have all had their fair share of heating issues but 150C is, like Misha said, a lot! There's a few reasons we believe this may be however we are looking into the temperature situation and will be making a video about it in the near future!

    • @DreamAutomotive
      @DreamAutomotive  ปีที่แล้ว

      This could just be due to fuel surge, a common issue on the FK8's and now the FL5's. Be sure to have plenty of fuel at all times when sending it on track 💪

  • @psycheout4733
    @psycheout4733 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    This seems to be a 'how to blow up a car trying to be first' video series. Ignores ALL the absolutely basic issues and continues to send it and be proud of it. Even have comparison data between two cars and not even saying anything trying to figure out why one car is going from less than 100C to 140+C in less than 3 minutes on a taxi lap. That's NOT normal, that's NOT a FL5 issue. That's a specific car issue. Make some good content and address the issues or you're going to be making content on blowing up an engine real soon. The pressure drop shows it's NOT a temp sensor/calculation problem.

    • @DreamAutomotive
      @DreamAutomotive  ปีที่แล้ว

      This is simply a 'taking our FL5 to the Nurburgring series' 😁 There's not much more we could've done whilst in Germany to solve the heat issues, this video just covers our trip as a whole rather than the high temperatures. We can assure you that there will be an entire other video(s) on it in the future, we've been heavily looking into the temp situation and will report our finding in the near future 👍 Thank you for watching!

    • @psycheout4733
      @psycheout4733 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@DreamAutomotive You could of done something. You could of seen the problem and made the choice not to run the car again until you found and solved the problem that is causing you to run hotter than every other FL5. But you chose to just change the oil and send it to 150+C again. If that's the kind of reputation you want for yourself, that's fine. I won't be watching any more of your project as it will result in a blown engine with very little learned as to why.

    • @trustalign
      @trustalign ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@psycheout4733I agree with this. No mechanical sympathy at all. This car definitely has an issue. I'm suspecting due to the aftermarket intercooler likely blocking airflow to the radiator. Remember the oil is cooled by water on these K20C1's (and many other K series preceding) People are so hell bent on increasing power they fail to increase reliability first..

    Those temperatures are absurd... I've only ever run 10w60 up til 140c let alone whatever oil this has in it to 150+.
    Edit to add: Coolant temp of 120+ too? There has to be an issue with the car as even on Hondas own lap record the hottest temps were around 98c coolant and 128c oil

    • @nfspeedy2
      @nfspeedy2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Why is everybody try to compare their car with the record car? That car had no A/C and a stock intercooler. If you look at the temps in the unmodified red FL5 you see no elevated temps and w/o A/C condenser like the record car there is even more cooling to the radiator.

    • @BarbecuedPossum
      @BarbecuedPossum ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nfspeedy2 the record car shouldn’t be modified to improve performance.
      Safety gear is fine but no way it should have removed ac for lighter weight and potentially cooling (not that it should make even close to that difference!).
      I had AC refitted in my track car and there was like 2c peak coolant temp difference let alone over a 20c delta, and oil coolers are 99% offset to the side and should remain completely unaffected, so I’m quite sure that AC didnt cause this issue.

    • @BarbecuedPossum
      @BarbecuedPossum ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@nfspeedy2 If the intercooler impedes airflow that much, to cause catastrophic overheating. Then it should be binned.
      Id take higher iat and less timing over running the oil until its like water and having the cooling system explode.

    • @psycheout4733
      @psycheout4733 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@nfspeedy2 A/C wasn't running during the lap and if the "Dream" intercooler does this... it's a POS. There's plenty of other track videos for the FL5. It doesn't go from sub 100C to 140+C in 3 minutes. This specific car has an issue and it shows to the kind of content they're going to provide that they're not even concerned about it or addressing it. If this is the kind of 'testing' they're doing for their product line.... it's simple. NEVER buy any of this garbage.

      During Misha's first lap, the engine was using the Honda provided 0w20 however after seeing those temps we quickly changed out to Millers 5w40! This also explains the difference in oil pressures between the 2 laps with Misha 💪
