These videos actually helped me recently when my daughter’s puppy was rushed to the vet when he began to act drunk and lethargic, enable to keep his feet underneath him. It turned out he had gotten into a muscle relaxer that had accidentally fallen behind a bed. He wasn’t expected to make it through the night, but he did! For the first five days afterward he had tiny issues here and there, but I knew from this show that most toxins I’d seen had been fully recovered from. And he did fully recover. What a miracle! But again, these shows gave me some reassurance that he would be ok in the end!

I live in Arizona, my poor cat fell off our fence onto a cactus, the thorns were sticking through her face into her mouth, and the Vet asked me if I wanted to pay the extra $30.00 for pain meds. I've never wanted to throat punch someone as bad as I did that day! I would have paid $1000.00.... Bandai vet dosent show prices, because we love our pets, money is no object, after divorce...I'm a disabled Marine and I cried when all 3 of my cats got very sick. The vet told me the price. I tried to borrow money and my x mother in law asked me if it was for beer?! I couldn't stop crying, she finally believed me. The vet charged me nothing. I cried on the way out! That was amazing! My X mother in law said I didn't have to pay her back, so my cats got medicine they got better and I didn't lie, and I also had beer money, God is good! 🤣

No a female dog should be left intact until atleast after their first heat cycle.. studies have shown spaying a dog before the first heat / prior to the age of two can be very bad for their health.. i own all intact female dogs and male dogs.. no pyometra (doesn't mean it can't happen) and all dogs are very healthy and no litters or anything like that! while it is a massive emergency if people looked for the signs and payed attention to their dog they'd know right away and it can be treated without the spay if caught early enough..

Please advise novice rescuers about dietary prevention of life-threatening 'Refeeding Syndrome' & also how weakened intestinal muscles can allow bowel obstruction from overloading with food before strength has a chance to return.
It takes heroic restraint to start with frequent small amounts of food (watery, or at least moist) when both the rescuer and the animal want to feed the animal as much as it wants.
Thank you. I LoVe that you show the transformation of even animals that look hopeless at first. You help inspire the best in people, which is even more precious at a cultural time where some profit from bringing out the worst in people. 💝

I already know this will make me emotional, even before premiere, because my dog had the same problem and almost died. Our vet said she was a few hours from death, but they thankfully saved her. It happened three years ago and the now 12 year old labrador is still living happily. I hope this doggy will be okay as well, but since you're amazing vets, I believe she will🙏

Pyo is *extremely* scary! I always discuss this possibility with clients and encourage them to have their dogs spayed. I don't want to scare people into spaying, and though I disagree with most breeding I understand the reasons people would want to breed their dogs, so I always try to tell clients that "after she's done having puppies" they ought to spay her. I've had at one come in with a pyo and die during the exam; she was, by the time they got her in, not going to make it unfortunately, but her parents were devastated they weren't able to be present when she died. I'm *SO* happy your dog is okay, and as they said toward the end of this clip, spaying is super important, primarily (in my opinion) for this reason!

About a year ago this show did another episode about pyometra. I had thought that maybe my neighbor's dog had gotten over the fence and got my dog pregnant. After a month or so I though "maybe it's a false pregnancy". Then I noticed just a tiny bit of pink discharge. My dog keeps herself immaculately clean, so if I hadn't been paying close attention, I would have missed it completely. I got her into the vet, and the ultrasound showed that her uterus was packed full of infection. They rushed her into surgery immediately and saved her. The vet said that if I had waited even one more day I would have lost her.
If it wasn't for this TH-cam channel, I never would have realized what's going on, and how serious it was. Other than those few pink drops, my dog seemed perfectly normal(I was planning on getting her spayed anyway, but because of Covid restrictions I had put it off.) Don't put it off! It's the difference between $70 and $700 in vet bills, as well as between your pet's life and death.
It was a really hard recovery for her, too. For 3 days I had to syringe water down her throat and force feed her lumps of wet food, because she was getting dehydrated and not eating. Sometimes general anesthesia can do that to dogs. Yet another thing I'm glad this show taught me.
I've owned dogs for over 50 years, and I am still learning new things. THANK YOU BONDI VETS!

I have just watched this. I feel you missed a huge education opportunity by not explaining why this girl got pymetra. You could have said it happens after a bitches season. Also what to look for.

I wish that people, like Jill, who rescue lots of animals could receive a discount on treatment. They already give so much time, energy, money, and love. I don't have much to give, but I would totally donate to a fund that helps offset some of the cost of treatment for these amazing people.

I totally agree I lost my mate in 1988 and Lucky dog a Springer Spaniel Poodle and he saved me. He came as a puppy and left at 24 years d thx hon xo. Lucky dog he was my best friend xoxoxo. Now I have had cats from kitten to 17, 18 and 22 year olds when they passed. Every time I have lost one I got a kitten and at present I have 4 year old Princess Lily Squeaker and 1 year old Rocky boy. My daughter whom I live with has 3 year old Ace boy, 2 year old Pandora. My Rocky impregnated his mom Pandora and had 6 kittens. We only have the special needs kitten Roley Poley. She was born with head to the left and could only roll. She is now 2 months and runs around with only a slight bend. She also has a hernia. My daughter went back to work to save to help her. We did have someone interested but it seems she has changed her mind. So we will probably have to find another interested party that could help Roley Poley

One of the veterinary offices I shadowed at had a severe case of pyometra, an eight year old german shepard who'd been a breeder at a puppy mill her whole life.
I thought he was moving her intestines out of the way- not removing her uterus o_O

Wow to think Dr Chris fixed the kangaroo ear with buttons was crazy but great to see.
The poor little puppy that had to have a hysterectomy at only 8 month I hope she is ok now.
Poor Dr Lisa I think she did an incredible job working on something she doesn’t like working on then to have the living daylights frighten out of her by the nurse I would have said more then what she did so I
Commended her for not swearing lol

Spaying is the best way to prevent a potentially deadly pyometra. 8 months is pretty young though.

I had my baby done in June. My female Chihuahua named mini girl had no heat cycle and 3 UTI infections in 2 years. But was 8 yrs old at the time of surgery also I found lumps on her tummy that were mammory tumors caught super early. And it costed me my full stimulus check 1,400.

@@carrieanncancino5118 That is very unfortunate that happened to your dog but please know that it doesn't happen to every dog.. what happened to your dog was very very uncommon and most unspayed female dogs are fine.. so sorry that happened too you!

Here in America, a lot of people refer to it as (in your best booming James Earl Jones baritone) “THE CONE OF SHAME!” Probably because a lot of dogs behave like they’ve done something wrong and the cone is some weird sort of punishment.

I truly love frenchies but there health issues can be huge and costly . Do not buy one unless you can afford the expensive surgeries that go along with them. One procedure cost my friend 6000 to fix her back! They are an awesome breed though! They have so much love to give!

    • @rmoenmjea
      @rmoenmjea 3 ปีที่แล้ว

I can understand why people love the breed, most of them are really happy, go lucky, fun dogs but in my personal opinion I would never ever buy a dog where I know from the get go that they have severe health issues. I find it inhumane to breed them knowing fully well that the can not breathe properly (even the ones that get advertised as being able to breathe freely are just one upper respiratory infection away from almost suffocating)

🐕🐾I held my breath for Camille's surgery (absolutely trusting in her surgeon, was it Allison? Or Audrey - either one are special and I trust them both. It's just not knowing what the little Frenchie's uterus was going to be like once she was open.
And I held my breath for what the shy puppy's hip findings would be - thank goodness 😊 he just needs good nutrition, exercise. The bonus is the amazing forever-home. Ted's new Dad 👨 and Mom 👩💕 were there for him when he needed them most and Dad needed ❤💙💕 Ted & his big brother the most. I believe Jill must've been over the moon to re-home Ted with them. The 3 pet parents are very good and wonderful people. ❤ They remind me of Gill.
The Bondi Vets are the best. Lisa was very courageous, overcoming her fear to treat the lace monitor. That big bully needs to be removed; donate him to a zoo or whatever.

I love these videos, too. Some of the critters that show up at the clinics are really fascinating to learn about. (We don't have 'roos and wallabies here in the states.) But I really wish they wouldn't blur the injuries and medical procedures. What's a bit of blood? If some people can't stomach looking at it, they have no business being here. "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen."
