My gosh she's lucky she's friends with the daughter of a doctor that works at the only hospital capable of treating a deadly bacterial infection that she caught from cutting her foot in the shower at a party she didn't really want to be at.
* girlfriend of the daughter of a doctor
life is crazy right😮
lmaooo I was thinking the exact same thing.
Hehehehe
uhh that's her girlfriend- 030
When he says ‘You’re clear” but there’s still 5 and a half minutes left
Thank God the dad conveniently works at the only hospital that can stop this infection!
Thank God the dad can conveniently diagnose what infection she has just by looking at a photo!
😂😂😂😂these comments are killing me
I mean, tbf, that's not what he said, but it's still an... arguably _more_ contrived reason than that???
Just TV show things.
thats why its a med drama. it wouldn't be dramatic if it was an over the counter thing.
Wow this show makes me appreciate Dr. House even more
You should be Dr. House is the Chad amongst any other Doctor shows
I love dr house
same man
Omg same!!! Dr House is the one and only.
Dermot had a House moment. Plus a House disciple is on this show.
Weird at least 2 actors are from medical shows.
When she said 'Awesome, best Wednesday ever', I felt that personally
"How y'all feel about Jenna Ortega?"
After the cure, she’s now infected with a more dangerous pathogen: medical debt.
As soon as the daughter said "she cut her foot" I knew it was flesh eating bacteria.
It is one of my favourites.
Along with Rabies and Glioblastoma.
Same but oncology in general. Prions are interesting too
@@McSpaanky mmm yeah I'm interested somewhat in Oncology also.
I had Cancer twice when I was 9 and then 11 so let's just say I know a little bit.
@@kelliewhyte_85 I’m glad you’re doing better! I wanted to go into pediatric oncology but med school costs too much. So I help out by donating to St Jude

When my brother was 18mo he had "Golden Staph".
OMG, sickest child I have ever seen.
Fortunately, he's now 40yo.
Glad to still have you, Braddles
Lucky him ❤
He is lucky... My dad almost died from golden staph.
Hooray for the good guys glad they’re better.
I was infected with MRSA the point I was born
I had a beautiful friend that died from a cut on her foot. The staph spread throughout her entire body. It's scary how a cut on your foot can kill you.
My condolences for your friend
Sorry for your loss
So sorry
make sure she doesnt worry( after telling her she got a deadly thing on her foot)
Writers: How unrealistic do you want us to write this scene?
Producers: Yes
We bacteriophage treatment is being researched into as a type of bacterial infection alternative
@@anandisrocking007 I'm pretty sure the comment was more about the magic scanner tablets, staff suddenly being a hyper deadly rare thing, the super doctor hugging his daughter with gloves on etc...
@@eliasbinde2629 Its a show from the future thats why.
Last I checked aureus is fucking painful to treat and amputation is the most effective treatment.. So it's not as fake as you'd like
Staph aureus infections are successfully treated at many, many centers. The writers should have picked something truly exotic.
Yeah it's called a mutation and species
Ever heard of Hep a, b, c? same base name and ancestral origin, different diseases
MRSA mutations are extremely deadly
This is so much more than a simple staph aureus infection. They’re success treated when promptly treated. When they turn into cellulitis and spread that much they’re incredibly dangerous. I have a disease that isn’t fatal but the risk of infection is huge and I’ve lost more people to staph infections that become systemic. Their organs will completely shut down. One friend got a staph infection while in the hospital for surgery. He was already getting antibiotics and he died. Another friend had an infection in his foot. It spread to his blood and into his spine. He’s alive but will be in a wheelchair. Don’t mess with staph infections.
I think they got the wrong bacteria for the disease they potrayed. Streptococcus group A are the flesh-eating bacteria.
It's the location:( the fascia that's worrying. Not a simple cellulitus caused by staph aureus
There's only one hospital that can treat staph aureus? 😂
I know - this show is beyond cringe.
it depends on the type of treatment and availability of staff/options at the hospital. Some hospitals might not have specialists or the same treatment options as others do. Especially if the hospital isn't a research hospital or doesn't take part in certain studies.
@@brianhaflin9799 Exactly.
@@brianhaflin9799 He definitely still overreacted. If resource limited, 3rd world hospitals can treat more extensive infections successfully, then a "good" first world hospital can definitely manage.. I hear why you're saying, it was just a bit dramatic
I know that specific antibiotics are only used for very specific things, because of riska super bugs
He hugs his daughter with gloved hands
5:03 Feel bad for that female actor for going from the world's best MD show in history aka House M.D to this train wreck
Loved her in royal pains!!!
She did not age at all lol
My gosh people stop looking so deep into how real it should be and just enjoy the damn show
exactly its called a medical drama for a reason
Y E S!!!! YOU GET IT - ITS SUPPOSED TO BE FOR ENTERTAINMENT
😅
"Promise me she's gunna be okay?"
I don't like how he says he promises. Yes, he could just be saying that to placate his daughter, but if I were in his exact position I still believe I would have been realistic about her friends condition and the success rate of the procedure. Your a practitioner in the medical field. Yes, there is a vast amount of illness and disease that you are knowledgeable about in terms of treatment and prevention. However there is always going to be much that we do not know. Infections and viruses can easily mutate.
TLDR: Don't promise something unless you know all possible outcomes
yeah that’s like the rule, in most jobs the thing you say is that you’re gonna try your best
Lmao immediately breaking dr patient confidentially with a family member.
Allie probably already allowed her to be present considering she was in the ER with her so 🤷🏼♀️
Y’all keep calling it cringe, but you still clicked the video, watched the whole thing, then took the time to form an opinion AND post it online. Must not have hated it that much 🤣
It’s almost as if it’s not supposed to be medically accurate. People are saying as well that the disease is easily treatable like the whole thing isn’t fiction 🤣
Well, you have to watch it to know if it s bad or not. It s the first time I hear from this series, I click on it because it was in my youtube recommandations and I usually like medical series... but not this one !!
I've made it 3 minutes, and I started cringing immediately. Paused the video to see if anyone else thought that the acting was awful. Saw this comment, and it makes no sense.
@@sweetpotato4251 so because my comment doesn’t affect only you, it means it doesn’t make sense? Lmao catch some of these “L’s” 🤣🤣
Kind of a stupid and not hot take. People can be informed on how bad this is. If people turned around didn’t watch it and immediately said it was bad you probably would have been like “ugh uninformed” blah blah. You need to experience something in order to see if it’s positive or negative.
One could say you took the time to read the bad replies have a negative take on those bad comments about the video must be like you care so much about their opinions that you *need* to talk how they must have cared since they clicked on it. 💀 like fr bro you are becoming the very thing you hate.
This is crazy I pray for thoese who are in this situation and I pray they get blessed and are blessed with good health
Literally any hospital can treat that infection...
If she had a 108 degree fever, woudn't she get a convulsion and most likely die?
Call Cuddy, get the girl to Dr. House!
I like the radical way this dad thinks 😂👌🏼 I’d be like “yeah why not let’s do it”
Surely this is a major breach of ethics right? Or is the premise just that this is the only doctor in the world who could possibly treat her
Oh, 100%.
So glad it's not super bad to show people that Dr's can fix anything if they just break all the ethical protocol protections.
*patient screams loudly at Dr's because of tv medical drama*
technically as long as he explains that this is a clinical trial and her only option for survival it is ethical for her. But as the other doctors explained it is most certainly not ethical to do this in a hospital where it could cause an outbreak endangering other patients and medical professionals.
Though they would still have to get approval from an ethics committee before even going near her with that needle. Remember clinical trials are a thing in America and if there is reason to suspect that such a treatment would work or has evidence it could work a clinical trial could be approved.
But as is shown in the show its most certainly not ethical.
@@ashleykneebone2306 ah cool, that's interesting, I was meaning more along the lines of personal involvement though
“Dad… I google this thing the second you told me what she had”
*sighs in missing House*
Staph aureus is like one of the commenest bacterias ever 😂
Bruh, how many of us have wandered home bare foot after a night out drunk? A lot. Ain’t no way to blame yourself for this lol also, why they got some Star Trek type of tech to see the bacteria? I’m sitting here like “Is this a real thing??” Cause if it is awesome, but I’m doubtful.
When she sent the pic, the first thing I thought was Necrotizing Fasciitis.
Me too. Especially when he drew that line on her leg with sharpie to track the spread.
Would have been a better and more legit dangerous and hard to treat issue than what she DID have if they had gone with that.
Me too! If I was her I'd scream cut off the leg before it spreads!!!
The thought of medevac bill always gives me so much anxiety when I'm watching medical shows.
😂
"Awesome! Best Wednesday ever!" I wish more patients in these schlocky hospital dramas talked like that.
this show is so.. medical drama.
It’s almost like that’s what this channel is it something
Some medical dramas are good, like House MD, for example. This one is god-awful.
Wait. 8:08. Does that monitor say her temperature is 108.3 F?
Medical accuracy go brrrrr
Well it's not supposed to be accurate... Just fun to watch! 😊
No way. I remember pure genius. That was a pretty interesting and the first medical drama I watched. It's a shame they ended after one season.
How old is this show? I've never seen it on TV.
@@mary-janereallynotsarah684 2016. 1 season because it was horrible
it would be WONDERFUL if you gave us a follow up vid that was easy to find. or at least the outcome in the same clip. CLIF Hanger much? on like 80% of your videos too. ugh.
EDIT - For those who want to know. SPOLIERS. She survives. and the dad is supportive of his daughters relationship.
FINALLY! Took me long enough to find it
THANK YOU
so a doctor discussing what will happen with a new patient.... he just broke a few laws.
Isn't necrotising fasciitis the worst bacteria on the planet? Not to mention rarer than golden staph, therefore more "unique"?! Necrotising fasciitis, or even MRSA would have been a better choice for this episode than ordinary golden staph. Even so, most western hospitals would have the resources to fight these infections, not just a specialty hospital 🙄
These medical shows come in with the most ludicrous premises and even more ridiculous resolutions.
Patient: "doctor, doctor, I got kicked in the nuts and now I have Malaria!"
Doctor: "hmm this sounds serious. The only way to test this is to continuously kick you in the nuts using different size and styles of shoes until we cure it!"
It creates entertainment though. If they just gave them medicine and were done it wouldn’t be very interesting lol
That's why they are called medical *dramas*
This show was literally an Elon Musk style doctor House. They pushed everything as far as they could while not being syfy. It was actually very good for what it was.
Dad here is 1 of my favorite actors but his character dies in almost every role he's played, lol. I've always wondered if that was on purpose with him......
My guess he either has a habit of unexpectedly leaving shows to do other things or he's really good at playing dead lmao
Ok, this show is just plain bad... fever of 108.3?! I quite literally laughed out loud at the sheer stupidity of it. There is "high fever" and "brain cell death". They could be encased in a block of ice and it wouldn't matter. That person is dead - period, full stop. Every clip I see from Pure Genius reinforces why I never want to watch Pure Genius.
Delirium starts at 106°F. The show isn't very accurate or really medicine based. It's just drama. On top of that, a staph infection doesn't rear its ugly head that quickly either.
My cat had a fever of 104 once
@@ScarletBrimstone does it? I've had a fever that high and still about my day. I only sought medical attention after my headache got bad
@@KeiSpeaksLife that's not good. 106° is the highest temperature that your brain has a chance of recovering from. Any higher and you suffer brain damage.
@@KeiSpeaksLife Personal guess that it was not your brightest day and if someone had recorded you. . . . .you would have viewed it now and had no idea how "out of it" you were. I also lived through an incredibly high fever like that and upon going to the ER all of my clothes were removed despite the fact I wanted more blankets and ice baths to cool the body are used plus IV fever medications. Sometimes we really have no idea how "out of it" we really are so my asking for more blankets at home when I was profusely sweating was a bad sign and then a family member asked to take my temp and said "ER".
I know this is a show but my doctor brain can’t shut off. This doctor shouldn’t be on this case, this is a conflict of interest that can cloud his judgement
Sitting in an ER all night than getting that doctor is more than luck....
I was sent to the cdc over staph. It kept coming back even months after not having it. Told I was a carrier. To this day I get staph once or twice a year. . It sucks.
...So treat an infection with bacteria?
She would not be even remotely with it with a temp of 108. She'd either be delrious or unconscious if not dead.
Sure is medically accurate, show! ;D
It’s like with vaccines, they inject you with part of the diesease so you can fight it off

This show is pure sci fi nonsense disguised as a medical drama, and I'm okay with that. Cause medical dramas are pretty nonsense, so a show going all out is kinda entertaining to see
FYI that is not how medevac works. So many laws were broken
