Bow River LIVE, 2003 is the best recorded version in my opinion.
They are still quite young in this recording. By 2003 they were much older and more refined and really knew how to milk the song for everything they could.

Live live live is always best for Cold Chisel. This is a mash up from different concerts.
Lead singer on this song is Ian Moss aka Mossy (singer/guitarist) with harmonies from Jimmy Barnes aka Barnesy. Other band members Don Walker on keys/piano, Steve Prestwich on drums (RIP in 2016), Phil Small on Guitar. All members are fire.... by the way Dave Blight was on harmonica.

I ADORE the wild thing video..... it's brilliant... chaotic but shows that Aussie audiences don't swarm an artist and fuck up the whole concert..... we appreciate talent.... we aren't sycophants for 'celebrities'..... our musicians, actors etc. are just people..... we don't kiss their arse or 'elevate' them...... ask Cate Blanchette.... 'Thor' etc....... except for the newer generations who unfortunately have been influenced by the USA........ they are just kind of pathetic.....

    • @stevegraham3817
      @stevegraham3817 ปีที่แล้ว

@@noone6559 If you watch it closer, Jimmy nearly gets into a punch up with one of the audience, and the bouncers calmed it down. That's how normal we hold our rock stars - 'you rip the button off my favourite shirt and I will clock you one for it', whether you are mid performance or not lol,

Cold Chisel, like every other Aussie band, artist etc..... started in the pub scene.... seriously... in Australia.... if you can't sing live in a pub.... you DON'T fucking make it......... we don't do the auto-tune BS or Divas..... we'll boo you off the stage.......so what you hear in a recorded song is pretty close to what you hear live...... xx Damn I'm so glad to be Australian........

Ian Moss, the first vocalist, does a fantastic version of "Georgia on my mind' live. Second vocalist, the monster Jimmy Barnes does a fantastic song called Stone Cold' with Joe Bonamassa on lead guitar, in the recording studio together on one take. Then Jimmy Barnes again, live version of 'If Something is Wrong With My Baby' with John 'The Voice' Farnham. You can see how much the blues, soul, gospel etc influenced Australian Pub Rock. (First Rule of Pub Rock: You have to sound fantastic live.)
Oh yeah, big Bruce Springsteen vibes in a lot of Cold Chisel songs.

One of the very few bands who have two lead singers . The smooth one at the start playing guitar is Ian Moss , the other singer is Jimmy Barns . When they all went their separate ways they both perused solo careers but Jimmy was probably the most well known and successful solo artist of the two . This is an earlier recording but there is an even better one recorded in 2003 when they reformed . I forget which one of them said , After 15 minutes we couldn't believe we broke up but after two hours of being together again we couldn't believe we ever stayed together for so long, or something along those lines. Now Jimmy's daughter is doing a lot of great work with Joe Bonamassa .

The first bloke singing, Ian Moss, is just the lead guitarist but Cold Chisel are so good, they have two lead vocals and both Ian Moss and Jim Barnes are absolute gold. Awesome guitarist too. Oh, and it was the second singer you heard on Khe Sanh i.e. Jim Barnes. The harp player is David Blight, who is not an official member but played with them a lot.

Still fascinates me that we heard just about all USA music here but very few of our Aus musicians and singers made it in the USA. I’ve listened to USA music from mum’s 1940s, 78s. I remember listening to Bing Crosby and Judy Garland etc and all the old American black and white musicals on TV. Then my vinyl LPs 1960s and then CDs onwards from USA, UK and Aus of course, but USA and the world are just discovering what music we’ve had and loved a huge variety here, for many decades. My grandmother had a gramophone I’d listen to lol 🎶👍

Ok, on the way to say Aussie, we also call the country the land of Oz, Oz, Ozzie, aus or aussieland, and neither sounds like an s. We save the s for the formal Australia, though it often sounds more like a z as well. We had fun in Germany, my sister asked for a postage stamp for australia. The lady was Ya, Ya, until we dragged out Aus-tra-lia, and she realised Austria wasn't what we had said. For Ian Moss on his guitar and singing the blues look up Georgia, it wasn't on the playlist, but he killed it anyway. He and Jimmy Barnes shared singing lead. Try Wild Thing for Jimmy's vocal squall. Or Jimmy with Joe Bonamassa, Stone Cold, (not stoned) meaning truly sincerely absolutely right etc.

The guitarist is Ian Moss, also back up singer and sometimes lead singer.
He could have been the lead singer himself but is a guitarist first, so they also have Jimmy Barnes as THE lead singer and part time back up singer.
Now..... Jimmy does have a sweet voice for rock and pop, but prefers to crush granite in his throat.
The experts all condemned him to a short career ending with no voice at all.
50 years later he is still performing to full houses at full volume and control and still using his throat to crush granite. lol
I hope Dei has suggested Wild Thing from the Last Stand Tour , about 1983 I think.
Pure feral rock at its best.
