      WOW LOL I TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT THIS!!
      YES! I did reach that length and I also reached "putting my hair into two twists" length but I actually don't like dealing with my hair that long!! It's much shorter now!! The moral of the story is YES YOU WILL MAKE IT ONE DAY and also maybe hate it?

    I use a mix of coconut oil and avacado oil cuz they are penetrating. I also do it overnight cuz oils take many hours to penetrate the hair shaft, the results are awesome.

    This was LIFE CHANGING for me! My hair is so shiny, silky, and soft!! I forgot to order rose hips seed oil, but I substituted that for grapeseed oil, added jojoba oil, red clover extract and dandelion root extract. My mop was apparently thirsty af because the difference is night and day!! Hey hair felt so awful before, now I can hardly keep my fingers out of it! You’re a godsend! ❤️

    This is amazing! Your hair is so healthy and long. I'm proud of the change that natural hair is beautiful. Most of Our generations grew up with the message that we need to "take care" of our hair by relaxing. I'm since a few years back to basic. I wasted it years on realaxing and damaging my hair. Now it's happy and growing. I have lots of info what to do with it as well. We can be proud wearing it just as we are born with it.

    I've returned to flexirod sets, curlformer sets (to twist outs) as well this winter because wet twist outs seem to be too much manipulation for my hair this winter. I've also made sure to pre-poo with oil or oil and conditioner before washing...totally changes the moisture levels in your hair, thanks for sharing!

    I love love LOVE this oil treatment, Whitney!! I substituted some of my own oils for some of the ones you used--Horsetail for Jojoba oil, I didn't have Avocado oil so I used Vitamin E for that. All the other oils I had thanks to your previous videos. And I also love that you leave this in overnight. Omg, after using this, my hair hasn't shed as much, it's softer and much much less frizzy. Frizz and dryness are the main problems I have with my hair. Thank you SO much for this video! I'm in love with the fact that you use natural products that nourish your hair and have it looking healthy and beautiful. I'd be so lost in caring for my natural hair if not for your informative channel. Thank you 100 times for loving what you do!

    Tried your hot oil hair treatment technique this morning. Used olive oil, grapeseed oil, argan oil, and rosemary essential oil. Not an overnight application, so I'll see how it turns out in a couple hours. But my hair felt super soft just applying the oil!

    I just used this on my daughter and I immediately noticed the difference. She has a mixture of 4c hair and extremely curly to the roots soft front hair but it's extremely dry and damaged. As soon as I applied the oils it became nice, soft and manageable. I will update tomorrow morning after I wash it out. I also had enough left to put on my hair as well and also noticed a difference:-)

I need to get back into doing hot oil treatments myself, because my hair is just about your length and bleached in certain areas like yours. So I have super winter dryness sometimes. I wish my hair would grow 😭
    I have so many split ends and my hair isn't even down to my shoulders yet... I'm too scared to cut it all off as well cos it's taken me all my life - of not knowing how to look after my hair - to grow it to the length it is. 💔 but it's so thin...

    • @dkblck1958
      @dkblck1958 9 ปีที่แล้ว +42

      You might just need a good, professional trim of 1-3 inches; don't think of it as a setback it is just loving and nurturing your hair. Like you do to your plants to make them fuller.

    • @TVfinatic
      @TVfinatic 9 ปีที่แล้ว +22

      I would definitely say get a good trim to help yourself be able to retain length. Split ends will stop you from achieving length retention, not necessarily because they will keep splitting up the hair shaft like some people claim ,but because they make your ends weak, making them break off more easily and definitely able to tangle more easily. And that goes for ALL hair. Also after you get a trim consider "dusting" the ends of your hair every few months, or when needed just as upkeep for your ends to prevent any bad split ends from happening and take care of any baby ones that may have appeared from normal manipulation.
      If your hair is prone to split ends then it could also be a question of are you moisturizing your hair enough or properly for its specific make-up? Are you listening to your hair and doing some research to see how you can make it better and feed its needs? And also with the thin-ness of your hair if its naturally thin then just own it babe. Trust me, thick hair is not always great to have, it can be a pain in the ass lol. But if its not just naturally thin then maybe try talking to a dermatologist, and if you can't afford that (like I can't) then try doing research for that too. You can type any question into google and you'll most likely find results stemming from people who are wondering the same things as you then maybe take some information that you think applies to you and look it up here on youtube to find someone whos made a video on it. For example, doing that exact process helped me find out about a scalp condition that I've had for the majority of my life that I thought was just a side-effect of me getting relaxers and really bad chemical burns (which it could have been but it could also just be genetic *shrugs*)
      Basically love put it this way: The more you know, the more it'll grow.
      Hove this helped

    I did this last yesterday with JBCO, Coconut Oil, Horsetail extract, Argan oil, Olive Oil, Almond Oil, and Peppermint Oil. I was running my fingers through my hair and it was pulling out so much I could cry. After this (which I ended up leaving in for 24hrs because I’m a single mom and she keeps me busy) but once I washed it out and washed my hair, I felt like Jesus touched my hair. Thank you for this!

    I like this video. But, am I the only one who has hair that HATES oil??? I can put oil on my hair and it just sits there or slides off. I spent an entire day/night wiping coconut oil off my face and neck after using it as a sealant. :/

    • @Naptural85
      @Naptural85  9 ปีที่แล้ว +50

      Hey ***** Coconut oil is definitely an "oily" type of oil, and for that reason, I never use it alone as a sealant. It's best when added to a butter, like shea or mango. If you don't like butters as sealants, try using argan, rosehip seed, jojoba, or sweet almond oil as a sealant instead. They tend to have no oily residue. Coconut oil is amazing, but because of the oil factor, I only use it in mixtures that I'm washing out, or as an addition to a dryer butter

      ***** Thanks so much for responding! I have EVOO, Jamaican Black Castor Oil, Jojoba Oil, Almond Oil, & Avocado Oil. My hair doesn't like any of it. I'll just stick to moisturizers because my hair LOVES it. Thanks again, Whit!

      My hair hates oils, too. But I force it on my hair because oil treatments are a good thing. Ultimately, my hair is better afterwards. Wasn't clear in the video, but did she only rinse her hair? No co-washing or shampooing? For me it doesn't matter, I would have to use some kind of light cleansing + conditioner to get my hair to shake off what the oil does to my hair.

    • @JenniTulls
      @JenniTulls 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sharon Dessisso Thanks for commenting, now I don't feel like I'm odd one out lol. I couldn't bare putting anymore oil on my hair, it's absolutely like an oil spill on my face and neck.

    • @gensai93
      @gensai93 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don't use oil as a sealant, either, whipped shea butter works better for me. What I do is mix oil with a conditioner instead of just using it straight. It's good to do before washing.

    I swear my hair loves hot oil treatments & my intention every time is to keep it in overnight. Then the running down my neck & face starts, my skin crawls & I'm under the sink before I know it. I wrap my head triple time & nothing works. But I agree it's a great treatment for soft hair. Thanks for an updated version!

    I'd love to see you do a review on GreenBeauty's 'REAL Protein Treatment'. Its a hydrolyzed wheat protein that you add to your current conditioner (DIY or store bought is fine). Recently my go to PT changed their ingredients so now the protein is too low in the list to be considered a PT (in my opinion), and had to search for a new PT to use. After looking for one that didnt have ingredients that I avoid and had protein in the top 3-4 ingredients I remembered watching the Green Beauty Channel, and remembered her talking about hydrolyzed protein and its importance to getting a "REAL" protein treatment*. I havent yet used her product but I intend to once I run out of my current PT, because the concept makes complete sense to me and I dont have to worry about finding the 'perfect' PT thats affordable anymore. Plus you can customize the amount of hydrolyzed protein you use depending on your hairs porosity level.
    *Watch the video about the Real Protein Treatment on her channel to see why. Its very informative

    Hey naptural! I've been using your home made hair products for a few years and my hair has become healthier and more manageable. But since I've had my second son and added your home made protien sensitive deep conditioners to my regime my hair has been shedding tons!! I've always used aloe and I have access to lots of avocados here in The Bahamas, so I thought it would be economical and good for my hair. I heard the black tea rinse so I gave it a try with little results. It's been almost a year now, so at this point I'm really worried. It can't still be hormones right? Any suggestions?

    My coconut oil changed smell. its not expired but now is smells like smellycheese popcorn, im not sure why.

    • @TVfinatic
      @TVfinatic 9 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      It actually could have fermented, that's definitely possible with coconut oil. I'm not exactly sure how (because i read a couple of articles on it years ago lol), but i think it has to do with either storage of it, or like when you melt it and then let it re-solidify and its somehow come in contact with like bacteria from you dipping your hand in the jar when you're using it on old hair, and all that kinda stuff. Trust me, it's happened to me before. If it's not anything that I mentioned then I'v got no answers for you babe other than "Google it" lol And if it is one of the things that I said then try reading different articles on how to properly store coconut oil, or like how not to store it or what not to do with it. I keep mine by the side of my bed on the floor in like this little product corner I have lol and my room is usually cool, even in the summer because I keep my ceiling fan on. So from time to time it may liquefy a bit at the top or get a little soft but the whole jar hasn't liquefied yet like my last one did, and I use either a spoon, or the back of my denman brush to scoop it out now, unless I'm just skimming little bit from the side. and it's still as fresh as when I bought it months ago.
      Hope this helps

      Use what you have. If you only have coconut oil or olive oil, that is fine. However, most naturals tend to have an arsenal of oils. I have all and then some. Use what you got! If you have No oils, use an Avocado and that too will do the job. :-)

    However, I would like to know if it was possible to set an overall summary info for us French women who follow you assiduously.

    I just recently tried this and I LOVED it! I've been natural for a little over a year but my twist-outs (heck my hair in general) is always dry looking. I am so glad that I tried this! I've been watching your vlogs for a long time because my daughter told me you were amazing. Her natural hair looks beautiful so I figured you were great but I got caught up watching your personal channel, fell in love with Olivia and forgot about following this channel. I've watched since she was a baby, she is adorable and Felipe is hilarious! I love everything about your channel - you, Felipe, OLIVIA, your parents, JuJu, Liam, Penny, Felipe's mom, Sariyah. My daughter and I were the first in line when you came to DC. I do watch your hair channel once in a while but until this hot oil treatment I never really tried anything. I did learn how to do bantu knots from you but I couldn't do two strand twists the way you do. This hot oil treatment though! My hair is so soft and moisturized. Thank you.
