Just fished there today. Had a giant largemouth on my line but I totally whiffed setting the hook. Also saw some pretty decent trout and tried sightfishing them. I'll be fishing the root every weekend I can so I hope to see you guys around!
Sounds like you have been doing great out there Scottie! I've never seen largemouth in the root below the dam. Good to know they are in there. Who knows maybe we will run in to each other some day. Best of luck!
@@BassAndBrews Yeah there's also some decent Pike in there! I'm hoping the rain chills out a bit so I can get some more time on the water. Best of luck to you as well my friend.
This is mostly just up stream from the steelhead facility. The water levels have everything to do with the amount of rain we have had. I was actually down there this weekend too and it’s a little lower than average levels. Check out this link for the USGS site to watch water levels in the river. waterdata.usgs.gov/nwis/uv?site_no=04087240
I’m gonna be coming up their Saturday from illinois any good spots in Kenosha or Racine u can give us it’s my first salmon fishing and really wanna have a good experience
I suggest checking out our video on where to fish the root th-cam.com/video/Z4yyUtg5yUk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=lWenQm8db_qiyyJn also if you want to do kenosha. I suggest petrifying springs park. The pike river flows through there and also Carrie’s salmon. I am not sure of the state of either river so far this year. Oh and please consider subscribing for more salmon content!
I'm from racine and personally a good spot is by the river inn if you go behind the place there is some docks you can fish there and go down further and fish in the water I usually catch some perch a few pike and some salmon. it is the root river
I agree with Joey. That should be right by the Horlick Dam. A spot I fished alot as a kid is Quarry Lake Park. Thats near the Dam and it has actually two fishing spots in it. The lake itself has a fishing pier and is socked with trout, and the Root River is also fish able in the park. My all-time favorite place to fish in Racine is the harbor! you can find anything along the shoreline inside the harbor itself. I have caught everything from rock bass to brown trout around the docks depending on the time of year.
Hey what's good man nice video.. I'm around this area we should meet up make a video together man.. I also have a couple buddies with charter boats if you're about catching salmon check me out dude 🍻 cheers

Is that salmon good to eat?
Have a nice fishing !
Any tips for what kind of flies to use for the root river?. I'm fairly new to fly fishing. Great video!.
I have heard of wooly buggers being used or something that looks like an egg sucking leech. I and a lot of people also use spawn sacs.
Nice salmon bro!
Thanks! We are getting close to salmon season again here in Wisconsin!

What part of the river is this? I just went out there for the first time today and it was so shallow the river by the steelhead facility.

Nice video! You filmed it in March? How the salmon is still alive???
Thanks! and no this was only uploaded in March. It was filmed in October of the year before during the fall salmon run.

Do u know if lakes are unfrozen
A lot of them in southeast Wisconsin are open. I saw Lake Michigan this past weekend and it was completely open with a few boats moving around.
Are those salmon going to fit in that CRZ?
We almost had to strap them to the top! Lol. They made it home ok.
is that the horlick dam?
No, this is at the Weir station in Lincoln park. These fish can only swim up to the Horlick dam though.
I caught 4 salmon on that same spot..
heck yea man! we tried it this year but got down there too late so we struck out.
