The sheep experiment station is south of the CDT between Spencer and Dubois Idaho. They have developed crossbreeds to live in the mountain climates and one breed is called Dubois, there may be others.
The herds you have passed are likely summer grazing, which are allowed up in the forest service land with grazing permits. The cows too, as a long standing program the Forest Service and other agencies run.
Hike safe!
I'm slightly allergic to wasps, as well. Here's something my Doc. told me. Use regular meat tenderizer. When you get stung, quickly wet sting spot, with your saliva and apply meat tenderizer. It contains enzymes that break down proteins, which primarily make up wasp venom. It really works, but you need to do it quickly. That's the reason I said saliva, instead of water, saliva is usually close by. It will lessen the severity of the sting greatly. It helps to neutralize the venom, before it spreads. I've used it several times. I keep a small bottle in my truck. Won't add much weight, very lightweight.
Thank you Beer-run and Savage for hookin' these hikers up! 👏 You could see the haze in the air for sure. Good call taking Benadryl for the sting. A cold soak/compress may also help. 🙏 Your hike is better than the Olympics! 😀 Rest well 🌲🏕🌲
I'm glad you stop in towns periodically. Aside from it being necessary to restock supplies and all that, it's such a cool part of the journey across the country. It'd almost be a shame to stay purely on trail the entire time without exploring the interesting sites along the way!
Love that you got those guardian, Great Pyrenees at work. Amazing dogs. They look like big teddy bears but they’ll take a wolf on without hesitation. So cool, but with every wonderful vid you post the scenery steals the show. The Lord bless and keep you guys.
@@lisaray6493 my brother has two, they are great!
They can be very aggressive -have your bear spray handy. No joke. I live in Wyoming.
GO KELLY ! I'M SO IMPRESSED WITH YOUR STATS !!! ❤ YOUR AN ABSOLUTE TROOPER !!!🎉😊
A lot of times, when you find a group of rocks stacked in that region, were from when the north American glaciers melted and drifted south carrying boulders. 😊
Absolutely loving this trip Kelly! I catch up every morning from the UK and it is like a meditation. Enjoy ☀
Beer Run and Pegleg hiked the Florida Trail together for part of the way last year.
The rain/hail on the tent sounds nice. 😊
What a rollercoaster day of weather! The sheep dog wanted to make sure y'all stay in your lane. 😀
Be gracious, be grateful - dogs are better than people.
Hey Kelly! My wife and I have been following and binge watching your hike from day one. Definitely giving us inspiration to do our own in a couple yrs when I retire. Thanks for sharing, and hope to meet you on the trail someday. 😎🏕️ 🥾
The canvas tent and donkey/mule are likely the main camp for the sheep herders managing the flocks in the area.
You are becoming very resilient can't believe it you guys have walked so much
Awesome stop with Beer Run & Savage - that was so great of them to do, and glad you took the time to chill with them for an overnight. I don't think I've even seen Great Pyrenees react like that to people, even when used as livestock guard dogs - they must have very limited interactions with people in general.
I just want to run all the single track! So beautiful! Thanks for sharing your journey Kelly. ✌🏼❤️
You have the very best videos on hiking and on the CDT. It was fun to watch Pyrenees guard dog keep eye on you and you where using your charm on it!
Miss Willie Mays Hays u gotta be crazy picking pie&ice cream for breakfast over biscuits &gravy. Appreciate your vlogs, you are one bad ass chick!
Love your videos. Excited as you approach Yellowstone, was out there last year. Keep wanting to hand you Benadryl creme through the tv😣. Hope your bug bites are gone and you enjoy your miles
Still following along! It’s nearly a 100 degrees here in Bryant Arkansas today. Looks a lot better there.
Kelly, glad to see your doing well and still having fun with your pack (trail family). I look forward to Yellow Stone. Screw to haters who judge your trail time. It’s your trip, plus we all enjoy your videos showing the different places you’re visiting. It would be a pretty boring video if all you did was film hiking alone. I will never in this lifetime see the Midwest myself and I’m pleasantly surprised at how cool it is compared to how I pictured it from western cowboy movies!😂 Experimental Sheep? It would be cool to figure out what that’s about. I lived in New Zealand for 10 years and there were sheep everywhere you looked in the countryside! Avoid the sheep 💩. It is disgusting and very messy if you don’t! 😂 Look forward to more videos. Thanks for the hard work!😊
The USA has an experimental sheep station in Idaho. From what I recall, they try to develop breeds which can live in different climates, and survive on different foods. It's located just south of the CDT near Dubois Idaho. The Dubois variety of sheep was developed there I believe.
The sheep the hikers passed were most likely summer grazing herds, that ranchers pay to graze on federal lands.
Oh! You get to experience the sheep dogs that never quit barking 😂
Prayers for your “stings” to heal with no more swelling nor pain🙏🏼
Whenever we would go to eat before a hike my buddies would have eggs and pancakes and sausage, bacon, big meal. My go to was pie and ice cream.
You’re just a few miles south of my friends ranch in Lakeview MO when you’re at Aldous lake.
I never heard about trail magic until I started watching your videos. Awesome for people to do that for each other
Looking forward to your next videos of Yellow Stone. God bless. ❤️🙏🏼❤️
I jolted when you walked through those white flowers. Cow Parsnip is photo toxic and can cause severe burns.
Yesss!!! So many videos! You’re my favorite TH-camr right now I love seeing all the hikes you do and the beautiful scenery! You should come do a trail in Seattle WA area!!
There’s a 400,000 acre fire in Chico CA right now, not sure if that’s why it’s so shmokey over there but could be. Keep up the great hike Kelly!!
**Started in Chico and is moving up North as of now. Called the Park Fire.
Glad you are OK ❤
Even in August, Yellowstone is cold in the morning
Watch out for that cow parsnip (the tall white flowery plants you walked through), it does cause a burn like reaction that can actually blister severely and cause infection. Google some photos. Yikes!
Thanks for sharing your adventure! Pie and I cream on me next town visit !
Love this. Needs to be a show. Would love to learn more about your trail mates!
KELLY From what I understand the northern lights will be able to be observed this weekend 8/10.
Yippy! Maybe you could video some of it.
Thank you Kelly for sharing your stories and inspiring views. Hope the 🐝 bites subsides quickly. Take care!
God Bless you ❤🙏🙏
So I was telling my buddy Thom about you and he laughed cause he has been following your adventures for quite some time. We are not big mile hikers but we enjoy Ocala and a few other parts of the FT around bull creek/ three lakes.
Tent was pelted with some concerning-sized ice pellets. 17:24
Seriously you documenting your journey and how your doin it is awesome !!! Epic. Go girl!! 💪
You are approaching (maybe in) super volcano cauldara. Geology run wild!❤
It's impossible to watch your videos without smiling; I'm sorry about about the wasp sting, though! See you next time...
Hello nine lives my pretty friend hope you're not too sore from hiking enjoy yourself relax in your tent God bless you my wonderful friend Gary❤
Pie and ice cream for breakfast, hell yeah!
That was as about as good as it gets for trail magic. I was just at West Yellowstone and in the southern Winds…Big Sandy Lodge does not only have trail magic for CDT hikers but some of the best food you will eat. The burgers are delicious!!
My cousin ran A cafe in West Yellowstone for years.
Twinkies for lunch!?! Tallahassee would be so proud.
Wish I’d known about all this type stuff when I was younger.
Hi Kelly awesome hiking video really enjoyed it stay safe and happy trails to you 👍🤟🤗
You just walked through the flowerbeds of those white and yellow tall stemmed where chiggers live and blackberry bushes on the train tracks. I’ll be curious if you get eat alive!!
My son is allergic to bee's. Glad yours stayed local
Kell, I wish you were hiking somewhere close by me! I'd bring you some awesome homemade food 😋❤. You are such a resilient woman and just inspire me everyday to keep going.
Does Benadryl help with stings? Thanks for your video!
Seeing 2-3 commercials each episode. Hope that means increased revenue for the channel. Great job documenting the journey.Makes me want to hike the CDT.. God Bless
another great vid Miss Hayes
Hays 😂
Hi Kelly great to see you 🙏🙏🦋🌹💐🕊️🇺🇸
How did the resupply go there? And don’t mind the people talking about being in town so much. They will eventually get how life works on trail when they start thru-hiking themselves! I also love the trail town stuff! Keep on trekking rockstar!
Hey there young lady. Thanks for sharing your adventures. Have you ever heard of geoengineering? It's a real problem. Research is the key. God bless you and protect you in your journey through life.❤🙏🏻
Girly watch those sheep dogs. Have your bear spray handy. They can get really aggressive.
Not sure if I would be brave enough to walk so close to those dogs! I remember that the guidebooks for GR10/GR11/HRP in the Pyrenees mention that you shouldn't worry about wild animals, there are very few bears and wolves, but the one animal you should really watch out for is the Patou aka Pyrenean Mountain Dog, and they recommend to keep well away from the sheep.
Yes yes yes. I live in Wyoming and guard dogs are not something to mess with. Keep bear spray handy. They can take you out. Not joking around here.
Should have taken me up on the Epipen offer - not that I would likely jab myself with one for the little stuff. Also have a few cans of bear spray... I haven't seen any of you wearing that... (Still offering to send both). Be safe, "Hayes"! (Really funny, my cousin when she married last name became Hays too... I always enjoyed spelling it wrong, along with her first name... Stay-See.. Hayesee.. One day I'm going to find out the brand of your shirt! It is awesome.. My GF loves it!
Her sun hoody is Town Shirt and her fleece hoody is Far Pointe. She tells everything she’s taking in her gear list video: th-cam.com/video/5_5QgFnQMlI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=zmq-NbYVOjYwp8P5
@@dwa0616 THANK YOU!!! Going to watch now...
Those dogs literally kill wolves. Good thing they didn't see you guys as a threat.
That deer keeps following you 😳
Yey! Didn't fall down...... Boo! Got stung by a wasp.
Did your leg feel like it was on fire for a few minutes at the sting site? A painful burning sensation?
I get really worried when you hike in heavy vegetation in bear country
You look very cozy.so excited.i miss you very much.shamim 🦅🧜♀️🤝💔🦜👫👥💑🎎
My camping friends say tobacco(and spit) neutralize stings. I'm thinking of carrying a cigarette when I hike. Don't smoke .
Love the vid
Still thinning, I am sure you know this. More food for you.
Hey Kelly, just curious did you follow Dixie during her thru-hikes?
Yal dong a cross country hike?
Canada to Mexico, CDT
@jhayft0703 bro I can't do a cross the street hike 😂😂 awesome content
I'd have my bear spray out and ready when encountering sheep being guarded by dogs. When you get to Colorado's San Juans, hikers have been attacked by sheep dogs with two pack llamas recently lost as a result. Be safe.
Yep.
Do you do all your editing on your phone? I’m going to start hiking and recording. I see you add music too. Is that all done from your phone? I haven’t found that option yet.
Thanks for all the great content!
You can add in the youtube create app. That's the one I use.
Cool
👍🏻
Colorado fires
Be careful with those sheep dogs, some can be aggressive.
❤❤
I noticed recently how thin your face looks. Hope you don't lose too much weight. Stay healthy my dear. I was watching another hiker video and he wears a plastic dragon fly on the top of his pack to keep the biting flies away. I don't know where you would buy one or if it would work out there in the west. Stay safe.
Can it be the Cow Parsnip at 12:20 irritating your skin? Cow Parsnips sap is an irritant. Great vlog!
No it was a wasp sting
H-A-Y-S........😊
I’m genuinely curious what happens if you come face to face with a grizzly?
I’m curious about this as well
@@kellyhays23 I wasn’t trying to be mean at all ,I’m sorry if you took it like that , I was just wondering about the hiking laws regarding face to face with animals. I think you’re truly a bad ass for what you and your friends do ! It’s so cool and amazing it really is. Nature is so breathtaking. I just started following you . I wish you all the best . Stay safe out there. God bless 🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️
There is another hiking channel called adventure archive, they were hiking in glacier np when they turned a corner and were less than 50 feet away from a grizzly bear coming their way. It was a skinny trail on the side of a mountain too, not the kind of meeting you want to have😬
@@rustyshakleford7277 i think I’d be frozen in fear! I can’t even imagine. I heard your suppose to lay on your stomach if you encounter a grizzly and don’t move! Not knowing if your life is going to be snatched from you while you lay there has to be absolutely terrifying
@angelaabbruzzese225 Lucky for them, the bear took off down the mountain and wasn't hungry that day😵💫
My maiden name was Hays and everyone added an “e” …. Nope!
Experimental sheep? 😮
Hi Kelly, I think you really should stop smoking😊,silly me
Thank you so much, beautiful person, Kelly🙂🙃🙂 wow the temperature changes and the smoke sounds pretty rough put that awesome meal on trail was sweet
That Twinkie really got to me
Don't move those Boulders they took me a long time to stack them
If you said? I missed it. what is that black thing around your neck?
You are blessed! thanks for taking me along
You can tell people - "HAYS" and they will write down Hayes!!!!! You tell them again - "It is a 4-letter word....HAYS!!!" And they look at you like you don't know how to spell your last name!!!! My last name is HAYS. !!!! GRRRRRR!
THIS!!!!
Seeing 2-3 commercials each episode. Hope that means increased revenue for the channel. Great job documenting the journey.Makes me want to hike the CDT.. God Bless
