  • This beautiful spot in the pristine rainforest of North Queensland Australia is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts, everything about this place is pristine but can be dangerous hence the name Devils Pool, many lives have been lost here due to ignoring the signs, the large rocky boulders can be slippery and once you fall in they are to large to climb back out, not to mention the extreme undertow of the currents from the fast moving waters.
In this video I didn't take any risks as a few years ago I almost went in my self trying to get that perfect photo, but it is a really nice place to visit and there are some fish in there, mainly Pacific Blue-eye (Pseudomugil signifer) and Jungle Perch (Kuhlia rupestris) as well as a few others, further down stream in Babinda Creek is a better spot for the fish fancier with many more species that you will see at the end of the video such as Eastern Rainbowfish (Melanotaenia splendida splendida), but the scenery is much nicer upstream so I concentrated on that in this video, for more information I have put a couple of links down bellow.

Yes it is nice, but it is still 2400km away from where I live so not to close.

@@UKFishCam I try to go once a year just to do filming to make things on my channel more interesting, there are a lot more species in the tropics than where I live here in the sub tropics, and much clearer water with so many creeks because of all the rainfall, winter up there is the dry season so good for filming.

Thank you! a beautiful place but not much in the way of nice fish, but the habitat was nice so I had to film it.

Awesome footage of the natives. The formation of the rocks is crazy. loving the 4K. keep up the good work.

Thank you! yes those rocks are unworldly, the amount of water and pressure that they must of had past them to form like that is unbelievable, I film in 5k but unfortunately TH-cam hasn't caught up yet and always compresses it on me, I'm happy you enjoyed it though.

Thank you, yes I love it there, one song is Dawn Raider by Power and the other is Supercluster by Searching for the light, it is actually 2 different songs blended with running water and a Spotted Cat bird in the background, the music is from SFX for creators.

awesome footage. looked like there were two splendida variants in the footage? one with more yellow margins on the dorsal and anal fins and others with red. I have noticed this in some of the local streams here north of townsville but never in the same stream.

Thank you!, I use a lead weight for a diving belt with a GoPro mount on it so it doesn't move in fast water.

@@alexg4150 Thank you, it works really well, the lead even tends to grip on rocks, I have only had problems once or twice in really fast flowing water but I think if I had a larger weight this could be rectified.

Any freshwater crocs that far upstream?

No, there is at another spot near by where they are found, but it is a bit hard for them to get through this rocky barrier.
