It's not so much that they don't know their audience, more a case of they don't RESPECT their audience. They believe that the traditional audience is stupid enough to watch this trash just because it broadly follows the themes of the existing films. They seem to think that the gender of the central character is irrelevant whereas in truth, it is central to the whole franchise. They could have got away with casting somebody like David Ajala as Bond to score some diversity points but casting a woman is just too much for the faithful to swallow. I look forward to seeing it crash and burn.
Nope. Likely some female and/or gay executive(s) knows and wants to kill that audience. It's deliberate. The only redeeming act could be if they restore things in the last act of this ill-conceived notion, to accommodate anything in the future. Somehow I doubt it.
@@josipcrncevic3994 I'd have to disagree on some part here. I think movies do have a responsibility to be at least somewhat PC and educational depending on the context and how pervasive movies are to the development of our beliefs and perceptions especially when we're younger. The issue here is when they go to far and break apart what is already an established universe that wasn't non-pc to begin with and when the message is shoved in your face for no apparent reason. Also it's insane if they actually pursue this and James Bond is no longer 007. Like that is the only person that the books write about.
That not what they do. They purposely try to demote conservative western society by creating a truth which isnt true and force you via a mob to accept that truth.
Yeah we even got to outright see it with how the New Guy meme played out. Some feminist tried to make a comic where some pink haired feminist like her was the good person and "New Guy" was just a dumb bad person, but instead she created the reverse by making the feminist as unlikable as possible and New Guy as a lovable sweet heart.
@Mobus Seven I'm not exactly sure what you're question is, but I'll try to answer it. If you mean "what is an SJW" then SJW stands for "Social Justice Warrior" it is what a group of people on the Left called themselves while they were going around telling men they are sexist for basic things and white people they are racist if they don't acknowledge their "unconscious biases". Now days those types don't really call themselves SJW anymore mostly because the term became viewed as negative in meaning. If you know what an SJW means and you were asking instead "What creations by SJWs are you referring to?" I believe it was probably (although I can't read the original posters mind) how Disney ruined Star Wars (with the script being so focused on Left wing politics that the main character, a woman jedi named Ray, isn't allowed to lose a fight even when it makes sense logically and dramatically for her to lose), James Bond (as is discussed in this video), and many other films.
All snarkiness aside, I find that surprisingly accurate. These characters tend to be cold, arrogant and manipulative, compensating for the usually difficult life they had before. They would be more subtle (and possibly nuanced) villains than the card-carrying types, and it would be quite the satisfaction when the smug opponents finally bite the dust. Take Dolores from Westworld. Her backstory would be amazing buildup for a vilain if she was embraced as one, and stopping her would feel like an accomplishment. As a protagonist though? She's very unlikeable.

The next step is for Hollywood to bribe Rotten Tomatoes to give it the "rare 100% great" score. All this does is further erode trust in the now-discredited Rotten Tomatoes team. 12. After tirelessly hyping the movie, it's still a flop. Nobody goes to see it. It loses money. 13. Hollywood, determined not to learn a lesson from anything ever, blames the fans for being racist, sexist, homophobic, and all the other typical adjectives from their microscopic "beaten like a dead horse" list of adjectives. 14. It's not so much that they don't know their audience, more a case of they don't RESPECT their audience.
They believe that the traditional audience is stupid enough to watch this trash just because it broadly follows the themes of the existing films.

A commenter once said, "SJWs write some of the best villains, make no mistake. The problem is that they try to pass them off as the heroes."
The more I think about it, they have a lot of Ra's al Ghul's qualities.
It seems the scriptwriter has accomplished what Goldfinger's laser failed to do.

Movie franchises are ruined when it’s about pushing an agenda rather than telling a story. The ‘agenda’ is so painfully obvious when the new 007 is a black woman, because god forbid the new 007 is yet another white man. Might as well as make her a lesbian and finish the list off.
I’m not against female agents who have a dark skin color, but when she replaces James Bond, it ends a 50 year legacy. The movies were about James Bond who just happened to be 007, not the other way around.

Pierce Brosnan's Bond films rebooted the series perfectly, they felt modern but also like classic Bond adventures. Even a film as bad as Die Another Day still feels like a Bond film more than these new films.
The Bourne movie made Pierce Brosnan look dated and idiotic. They had to reboot. At least Craig looks like he could kick Bourne's ass.

Casino Royale showed that Bond did once care about meaningful relationships with women and why he learned that it's not only a liability to his ultimate goal but a fundamental part of every human he must suppress. Bond isn't just someone who will use every advantage he has to help him ultimate goal, he's a wounded soul that saw the first woman he ever fell in love with killed because of his profession.

@Ryan Akwar I see your english comprehension skills fail you watson
Bond by today's standard is embodiment of toxic masculinity & a misandrist.
The whole point of James Bond is that he's a fictional spy who has adventures around the world & sleeps with gorgeous woman. That is Indeed the point, it's an escapism written by a male author for male audience in mind. While no one's stopping from women enjoying it, would be reasonable if they don't but if they strip him from his core characteristics. People would lose interest in the very character.

The gender stuff really hasn't dated well in some of the earlier Bond films, no-one's denying that, but - as this video says - those issues were already fixed with the Brosnan era. The Brosnan films managed to balance updating Bond for the modern era with acknowledging the "sins" of the series' past, while remaining 100% Bond. Perfectly judged. Everyone was happy.

3. Bond fans express their dissatisfaction.
4. Hollywood turns a deaf ear and learns nothing.
5. Bond fans are now expressing outrage, promising to bail on the entire franchise forever.
6. Hollywood equates this "outrage" to emotional instability, as if it's the fans who are crazy. Again, they learn nothing.
7. Hollywood makes the pre-doomed movie.
8. A couple people watch the movie to see if it's as bad as they feared. It is.
9. These people go online and tell everyone to avoid this dumpster fire of a movie, because it's exactly what Hollywood said it would be - a steaming pile of woke garbage.
10. Hollywood silences the people badmouthing the movie. They also have bots out there giving it a 10/10 rating. Obvious bots are obvious.
14. Hollywood, after having successfully learned not jack squat from their abysmal failure, moves on to do the same to the next movie and destroy a once-popular and profitable franchise.

@@kevincarter2020 Spectre was an okay action movie. It has it's flaws but wasn't terrible either.
same.
Wouldn't watch the worthless cultural Marxist garbage if you paid me....
You’re so brave
“James Bond has become irrelevant in his own movie.”
That about sums it all up, I think.
S. H. R. Rjjal: In the trailer. Hard to sell a James Bond movie without James Bond in the ad. There’s no doubt the movie makers have an ideological agenda. It’s showing quite prominently in their newest films. They always think they have something to teach us. They don’t!
S. H. R. Rjjal: Sir or Ma’am, if you’re jazzed about this movie, go see it. Don’t let my opinion stop you. After all, he’s “goddamn James Bond.”
S. H. R. Rjjal: Why is this an issue? You want to see the movie; I don’t want to see the movie. I don’t see a problem.
Indeed this is a anachronistic genre of spy film now: If you look at something like the equaliser in terms of the series and the denzel washington movies you can see a more grittier approach, a more flawed personality indeed his OCD stands out.
Bond movies were about a level of escapism now that can be reimagined as a mary sue. We loved it because the target audience did not have that many blockbuster films to choose from now we have several movies: The Bourne series sands out and for pure escapism you have franchises like fast and furious. Bond films were never GREAT no one puts them in their top ten of even spy movies today. They are a genre which we went from the family watching at christmas to now no one really that bovvered
In many ways you are arguing that Bond's exploration has been done, and I agree it looks like it wants to move on but hey I suspect there is not that many new film that do not have franchise tag out their
Basically they want to get rid of everything Bond stands for. A suave spy who hangs out in casinos gambling, a hot bond girl, a good villain and some good action sequences that aren't overblown. If he is just going to be a castrated effeminate restrained nobody, then just make him a bureaucrat. See how well that does.
It's not that John Wick is so good, it's just good in comparison to how bad other action franchises have become.
John Wick is so good though.
