This was a good box back then. but its super slow and buffers alot and if you install any apk forget about it. you will be frustrated. a recommended box would be more ram and rom and supports 5.0ghz

Hi CHIGZ. Love the reviews! I find them some of the best for android boxes. I would like to know your opinion what android box can you suggest that will support 128gb sd card (for int. storage), and 4TB HDD (ext. storage), has at least android 6.0, 4K, and at least 2GB ram, for under $100 or less? I have a minix neo u1 already but its not reading anything cards or sticks under settings>storage, so im looking for a 2nd box for a separate tv that is abit cheaper but still meets the above criteria. What can you suggest?

Hi, I have this box and when I turn it on it gets stuck on the MBOX logo. I tried the tooth pick method in the AV input but it still stays on the logo. I can feel the rocker inside the AV input but it does nothing. Is there something I could do on the board to get this working?

Don't! they don't work believe me,a waste of money maybe work for a short time eventually they go belly up very quickly I've bought every style size price and all the same,work well for a little while and I mean days then bang buffering all the time or no connection or no streams available, as for live sport forget it

Hi, I just tested it out and it works perfect. Attached a logitech webcam and installed Skype on the MXQ. Works great.

No the RAM is not upgradeable, you can only add more storage via uSB and microSD.

Does it let you play videos in resolutions over 720p? I saw in another review video of an older version of this device that didn't support resolution over 720p for most apps.
You can play 1080p resolution video on all apps and 4K video movies from USB HDD or streaming from kodi.
Great review ! How is 1GB RAM performance? do you need to clear it frequently?
1GB ram performs reasonably ok. You are retricted to 1 task at a time or it will lag. Yes, you will find yourself clearing the ram quite often.

@@ChigzTech when I clean ram it goes down to 25 to 30% {not below that}. And system lags when ram goes up to 40 to 50% . Ram hardly goes up beyond 50% . Any cure for this issue?

Can it smoothly play h265 1080p mkv via USB?
I never knew you can use a wireless mouse on this box. Will it a wireless mouse work on the MXQ pro standard box? And can you pause you do a video on how to get sky live channels. I have mobdro for most sky channels but the streaming is never HD quality.

Yes you can use any HDMI screen and there is a 3.5mm jack for audio.

A TV box is better as it will let you do so much more than just mirror your screen. You can download and watch movies, play games and lots more.

You can't do that, it would be nice, but the big icons are fixed and not customisable, you can only change the small icons at the bottom. You could always change the entire home screen if you wanted a fresh look.

There are a lot of newer and better boxes out now that you should consider. Go for a TV box with a minimum of 2GB RAM and you will be happy. 1GB ram boxes are quite laggy in gaming and have the older GPUS.

Firestick is not practical for me, no USB ports so you cannot attach a drive to watch your own video/movie collection. Firestick is purely a video streaming tool. However, when you buy an android TV box you get a complete PC experience, you can work with office applications, attach keyboard, mouse, usb Drives, watch movies offline from USB. Stream online whatever you like. Play some games.
Firestick comes in 2 flavours the cheaper one is totally rubbish has only 1GB ram and supports only 1080p resolution. The more expensive Firestick has 2GB and supports 4K but is it not worth the price. As for $70-80 dollars you can get one of the best Octacore TV boxes available right now.
Meanwhile, if you do choose a TV box, make sue you go with something with minimum 2GB RAM.

My android TV box came with android 5.1. It is OTT TV BOX MXQ PRO 4K it has 1gb ram and 8gb rom. It's board is S905Q_V1.0. It's wifi device is REALTEK 8188 ETV. It's flash memomry is Sandisk P545105231. I have windows 7 64bit and I'm using USB 2.0 port. It gives me error at 8%. ([0x30402004]UBOOT/Partition boot/Initialize partition/Error result). Could you Help me?
how did playing movies off a usb storage device work out for you? i tried watching it and got graphic studderds (picture freezing and large ass pixels) even bougt a high end hdmi cable, no difference
Hi, never experienced anything like that on this Android TV box or any android tv box.
Try a few different videos and also download a better media player like MX Player or VLC player from google play.
Hi, I bought this exact box MXQ pro 4k and have had problems with it going off and rebooting while watch movies. sometimes it will go off 3 to 4 times which makes it hard to finish a movie. I have searched youtube but found no answer. any ideas thanks.
When the box does that it usually means the CPU is overheating and causing the system to shutdown. 2 things to test, blow a fan at the box whilst tilting the box on its side and then watch your movie as normal. If it still switches off then do a full system factory reset.

if you open it, its only 4 screws you can replace the heatsink very easily, google it, solved my overheating problem

I have never tried the service, if they had a trial I would test them out.
Does the tx5 pro buffer alot is it recommended for kodi
TX5 pro is one of my fav boxes, works great. Hardly any buffering. Its actually a good all-round box to buy. Have used my TX5 Pro for a while on a daily basis and I cant fault it.
Just purchased the TV box. But some channels on the live net tv either fails to load / only audio / it freezes and I have to go out and in. Am I doing something wrong. Or could it be my internet?
No its not you, its the app, its temperamental.

The 4K video will play on your FullHD TV but won't look as good as intended. You can only enjoy 4K in its full glory on a 4K TV.

Tried to connect my mobile with the tv box for mirroring, but when I select the TV box for mirroring, the miracast app stops . pls suggest any other app of process to connct with my SAmsung Galaxy J5 phone with this box.
aside to this some application denies to install saying that ur devise is not compatible for this application. what does that mean, Do I need to ugrade the TV box??

Android 6.0 lets you add a micro-SD card to the box and it will recognize it as internal memory for storing apps, (in effect, giving you 48gb of storage with a 32gb micro-SD card ), but Android 5.1 won't allow this.

I would recommend looking at some of my newer videos for TV boxes for the latest features. This one is quite old now.

This will work on any TV with an HDMI port. Smart TV not needed.

Minix Neo U1 is a more powerful device with a stronger dual band wifi. It has double the storage and double the ram.
How'd you get the clean memory option on the home screen?
This was a standard feature, already there, I did not install it.

No, I installed all my fav apps. You will get the standard apps you get on most android phones/tablets. You can download and install any app you like.

This box plays 4K, however not on Netflix. Netflix 4K/HD is only supported on the following approved devices:
Apple TV
Google Chromecast
Roku
Amazon Fire TV
Google Nexus Player
NVIDIA Shield
This box handles 4K & HD very well and is great for watching live TV, PPV sports, movies and TV shows.
The only negative I can think of is it has no Bluetooth. Maybe 16Gb would be nicer.
Other than that, if your looking for a streaming box, then I highly recommend this. Gaming is not great, especially graphic intense games, casual gaming it does fine.
Also you can buy this box on eBay or Amazon for quite a low price.

Most boxes with only 1GB RAM will buffer now and then, it will still work but you can expect some buffering. I recommend getting a box with minimum 2GB for a much better overall experience.

How do I down load subtitles to movies

That does not sound right. Try another HDMI cable and ensure the hdmi cable is attached securely. If it still shows messed up colours, go to settings and reset to factory default.

No unfortunately this does not have bluetooth support.

It works the same, but if you want official kodi just uninstall it and download the official one.
