Lionel Richie has many great songs. He started out as a member of the Commodores. Love his songs “Hello, Easy, Stuck on You, Running with the night, Say You Say Me, Dancing on the Ceiling, and Truly.
No need to apologize for not being aware of certain artists or confusing one artist with another. I appreciate you having an open mind and discovering all this great music that was well before your time.
Lionel Richie is music royalty!!!! Check out his past with the Commodores before he went solo. He co wrote the song "we are the world " with Michael Jackson.
I'm from Minnesota, and I'm going to overlook the whole thinking Lionel Richie and Prince were the same person thing. You might enjoy the live performance of "A Love Bizarre" by Sheila E. and Prince. Prince's version of "Motherless Child" is worth checking out as well. Nice reaction. More Prince.
Chill with that noise, so what if she did she is LEARNING about these artists. Prince was great but your reacting like he was a piece of trash Lionel Is a Legendary artist, typical Prince fan over reaction. He wasn't Beethoven, his name was Prince and he was Funky. That's about it.

Lionel Ritchie went from brick house funk with the commodores to all night long solo career, Lionel is one of the greatest writers to touch the game easy like Sunday morning on s still the Bomb !!!!💣 all night long was a big hit it seemed like he had every tropical sound on that song another great 80’s song
Lionel Richie is a great singer songwriter. Back in the day Top 40 radio play would have 40 different artists! We had such a variety to listen to. I'm glad you are getting your music education while you are still young! Carry on Mia! The Toto sound is from (Keyboard) Synthesizers 80s music is heavy with keyboards, everyone was using them to make the songs sound full. The 80s was all about Dance songs! It was so fun!
Lionel is a legend, he started with the Commadores. He has a huge catalog of great music to dive into. He is also one of the judges on American Idol. He has so much great music but I would recommend Hello (I know it is slower but great tune) Dancing on the ceiling, he also wrote Lady, which was a huge hit for Kenny Rodgers.
That song and the entire album was the best in the world 🌎 that year he sold a tons of albums that guy wrote countless of love songs that went no1 on billboard one of the best best songwriter of all times in the USA thats for sure
Lionel Richie had great hits both with the Commodores and as a solo artist. My favorite song of his is 'Hello.' Loving your channel. You have such a beautiful heart and soul, a warm, congenial personality, and embrace a wide variety of musical styles/genres.
A most beautiful lady he was originally in a great R&b group back in the late sixties and seventies called The Commodores this band and not only could sing but they can play their own instruments but after they broke up Lionel went on to become very successful as a solo artist even though I'm metal head I still liked the old R&b from that time. Because it took talent
Lionel is one the original old school GOATS! So talented and timeless in his music! Check out all of his music from the Commodores through his solo career, and collaborations. Beautiful voice!
Yes this song was a very big song back in 1983. I remember when I was little we use to break dance to this song. And don't worry about the views because people from the early 80s viewed this video and heard this song billions plural of times on BET and MTV. So imagine if TH-cam came out in the early 80s. All of his videos and Michael Jackson videos and Prince would have Trillions of views by now and they videos has been viewed trillions of times since then. It's just that TH-cam just came out and got popular around 2011 and those views are not recorded on TH-cam but that doesn't mean that these old videos have not been viewed trillions of times. Y'all born of this New Young generation or the late 90s just don't know about the old BET and MTV and VH1 music video stations that played music videos all day long. Not to mention Soul Train and American Bandstand and Show Time at the Apollo and the Arsenio Hall show plus the Box. Another great video!
You are so young😂 before Lionel Richie became a solo artist he was the lead singer for the Commodores and they were huge in the 70s. You should react to them.😍🎶
Hi Mia your so down to earth and genuine and yes Lionel Richie really was one of the finest musician singers back in the 70s with the Commodores who sung three times a lady and many more plus as a solo artist he was phenomenal as you can see and hear with this classic song one of many I might say and as for his daughter I'm not familiar with her so your teaching me something I didn't know thanks for your take on this song you are totally awesome as always
Great reaction! First, Lionel Richie is a legend. There are so many of his songs to which you could react. But, his greatest songs are his love songs IMO. "Running With The Night" and "Dancing On the Ceiling" are faster songs; "Easy" and "Stuck On You" are slower. I'd also recommend "Sail On" and "Zoom" from his days with the group The Commodores. Btw, you're young. No one should give a hard time for not knowing his music. He was literally most popular before you were born.
Well there is a connection between Lionel & Prince. Prince's former percussionist, Sheila E. is Nicole Richie's Aunty & Lionel is Nicole's adopted father
Toto had the "Island vibe", and Lionel as well as Artists like Jimmy Buffet incorporated it into the Colorful 80's beat. I appreciate the fact that you noticed! I'm just Surprised you didn't comment on the Dancers outfits! i could see you rocking those ensembles!
Love the music video set on this one, such a vibe! As a millennial, I had parents who really had me growing up on 80s 90s so nice to see Gen Z taking that journey! Lionel Richie - Dancing On The Ceiling is another fun one with of course those unique Richie vocal runs ☮💗

He did this song at the closing ceremonies of the 1984 LA Olympics. Imagine ALL the athletes from everywhere on Earth dancing to this together in the stadium. It was amazing!

A lot of peeps think “Hello” is his best song, but it’s a matter of opinion. “All Night Long” was perfectly used is the popular 80’s tv series Miami Vice. Lionel also songs with Diana Ross, on one of the best wedding songs “My Endless Love.” 💕
I don't think you can understand just how big Lionel Richie was back then, my god! he had a list of hits a mile long. "Hello" "Stuck on You" "Say You Say Me" Running With the Night" just to name a few.
Mia beautiful reaction, you're so adorable 💚🖤💚🖤 Lionel Richie and Prince aren't the same person and I would never give you a hard time about not knowing. He is a legend. "Hello" is a song people still think of today. Almost anytime someone says "hello" the first thing that pops in my head is "is it me you're waiting for?". That's Lionel Richie.
Lionel Richie was was lead vocalist for the legendary Commodores who were signed to Motown in 1972 and toured with the Jackson 5. After the success from Richie's first solo album in 1982, it was suggested he should go solo full time.
You got to react to Tevin Campbell - I'm ready. If you are ready to hear one of the most powerful vocal men voices to ever hit music you are in for a treat.
It does sound like Toto, Mia. His Aunt taught me Biology in HS in Florida. She would give out his autograph for winners of certain things, motivation. He sent her a flowers to her classroom on her B-Day.
Hello and Endless Love were two of his biggest hits, but his best stuff was with the great Commodores. Easy like Sunday morning, Brickhouse, and Sail on.
Hey, this is how you learn! Listening and connecting the dots. ("Oh, wait! I've heard that before!") Just keep it up and and pretty soon you'll be a musical connoisseur. Lionel was the original Ritchie, until his daughter Nicole got TV famous for a minute with her friend Paris Hilton in the early 2000s. Now, I guess there's a Sophie? lol! It does sounds Africa(Toto) with the Bongo instrument in the back. When this song came out, the music industry was exploding. In the radio there were a new hit every day and all kinds of artists and bands.. Carly Simon, PHD, Eddy Grant,Yazoo, Duran Duran, Michael Jackson, Scorpions, The Human League. If you look at the Billboard chart of this year you will see it. We were 14 years old and having the best time of our lives at High School.
When you feel in the mood for love songs, Lionel Richie s songs are for you, My Love, Endless Love(with Michael Jacksons godmother Diana Ross), Stuck on You, You are(the sun)that s my favorite of his songs.
Lionel Richie is a great artist and has great songs but before he went solo, he was in a singing group called The Commodores. and did you know Lionel Richie and Michael Jackson wrote one of the greatest songs and mega hit (We Are The World) it was like a fundraising song where a lot of great artists came together to try to raise money for the African people because they were having a food crisis there and many people were dying from starvation I can’t wait for you to react to that song.
I really wish we could talk. I know sometimes life can get in the way but I don't care about all the other stuff but I really miss you and only you and the rest of it I don't care but you I hope your doing good and I really mean that.
The only Richie I knew is Ritchie Blackmore, would you forgive me? Oh, can I eat you anyway? 😂💕 Nice song! Ritchie Blackmore is Deep Purple 's guitarist, I suggest you to react to "Smoke on The Water" or "Child in Time"
You're a little bit right if you hear Toto there. A few members of Toto appeared on this album for Lionel Richie. But not with this song. 😅 They were very popular studio musicians at the time (for Michael Jackson, Elton John, Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen,...)
That's how popular music evolved back then: certain Base lines, drumbeats, guitar riffs would snag the ear and be used at the same chords with minor variations and in different tempos for a couple years creating what musicians would call "that sound". It was a sound unique to that era of music and most famous for being impossible to re-create. It's why most people who have been exposed to such music long enough can tell if it was released in 1971 or 1974 or 1979 etc. simply by ear even if they never heard the song before. That's another reason sampling became so widespread, because these modern no-talent rappers can't write music, but they can identify an earwig and replay it through a synthesizer.
Mia, the whole point is you experiencing a world of music that you wouldn't know if you weren't doing this. No one should be beating you up over stuff you don't know! Now, if you want to chase Lionel Richie back a little further, look for music by The Commodores! (60s/70s Motown) That was his group before he went solo.
This song is such a good classic song Mia have you heard of SIMPLE MINDS they have a classic hit song called DON'T YOU FORGET ABOUT ME that song is in my top 5 greatest favorite songs of all time it's actually number two on my list it's actually from the movie soundtrack the breakfast club i don't know if you have watched that movie great classic movie and song and also i can't believe you thought Prince and LIONEL were the same person no way👍😁
Get into some blues. Stevie Ray Vaughan, Texas Flood Live at the El Mocambo. You like guitar so he is one of the greatest ever and many consider him the best. He is my favorite artist of all time.
Please react to USA for Africa. Lionel had a big part in organizing this. It is a charity song that raised a lot of money for poverty in Africa. It's a once-in-a-lifetime event of a lot of the top '80s musicians that will never happen again. You may recognize some of the people in the video and you may want to go back after you learn more and see how many people you recognize then.
It does sound like Africa. Toto was formed from a bunch of studio musicians. Those guys worked with a lot of artists. I know their lead guitarist worked with Lionel Richie, but I don't know if they collaborated on this song.
Damn - I wanted to end my journey through your channel 😇 It's funny that you mentioned Michael Jackson. Cause MJ was rather great already because of his debut album but when "All night long" was released in summer of '83 the second album "Thriller" was only 8-9 months released earlier. Jacksons wasn't the "King of Pop", yet. Both were huge artists back then and Lionel Richie was well known by other hits and his longer work as front singer in the band "Commodores" he left right in that time period. Pseudo-African influence was kind of a trend in the early 80s. If you never listened to Michael Jacksons intro song of "thriller" you may give is a try - its called "you wanna starting something". Thanks for the reaction and many memories about my early teenage years - all the best for your channel 🙂
I'd like to see Mia react to some of the other artists before she takes that one on. My favorite reactions are the ones who are "Oh my god is that ..."
You maybe picking up on similarities to Toto because up until the 90s, most music was put to tape by studio/sessions musicians. This was due to recording being very expensive and not wasting tape(recorded on). Things were tighter due to this. These days, digital recording and Pro Tools(software) have made the music business change. Love me some Lionel. Can never go wrong.
One day if you are up for it react to Lionel Richie Hello music video. This song and video was really big back then too! People requested this video all the time.
I feel like your Christmas parties this year are going to be a very active retro party and I wish I could be there because there was some really cool music playing. 😅😅🎉🎉🎉🎉
Gotta Love your Reaction videos! Especially the Tupac and Old school artist/Songs. 👍 Other Lionel Ritchie songs I say to react to are: 🔥 “You Are” “Truly” “Dancing on the Ceiling” “Endless Love” ft. Shania Twain
ALL NIGHT lONG....my dream with YO💖😘🌹🌹🌹🤩
Lionel Richie has many great songs. He started out as a member of the Commodores. Love his songs “Hello, Easy, Stuck on You, Running with the night, Say You Say Me, Dancing on the Ceiling, and Truly.
"Running with the Night" is great. Steve Lukather (Toto) kills a guitar solo on that one. And speaking of Toto, "Rosanna" is a must.
I was going to recommend most of those very songs.
I would never have realized because they are very different artists but it's true, there is an African trait in this song.
No need to apologize for not being aware of certain artists or confusing one artist with another. I appreciate you having an open mind and discovering all this great music that was well before your time.
That old school music will open you up to a new experience in life and feelings will fall like a waterfall 😂😂😂😂😂

That's another reason sampling became so widespread, because these modern no-talent rappers can't write music, but they can identify an earwig and replay it through a synthesizer.
The 80's❤
Lionel Richie live him and this song
Billy Ocean he sings Caribbean Queen a great song !!!
It does sound like Africa. Toto was formed from a bunch of studio musicians. Those guys worked with a lot of artists. I know their lead guitarist worked with Lionel Richie, but I don't know if they collaborated on this song.
Damn - I wanted to end my journey through your channel 😇
It's funny that you mentioned Michael Jackson.
There’s a group called Jodeci and the song is Cry for you (crying for their woman)
Have to react to "We are the world" that will high light some of the great artists of the 80s with lots of legends in the mix.
I'd like to see Mia react to some of the other artists before she takes that one on. My favorite reactions are the ones who are "Oh my god is that ..."
U.S.A for africa - we are the world. Written buy him and MJ
He also wrote the song "Lady" for the late Kenny Rogers...
Also "We are the world" by USA for Africa with Michael Jackson.
If you want to know Lionel better, go pull up The Commodores. He started as member back in college.
We’re gonna do it all night long baby😂❤
One day if you are up for it react to Lionel Richie Hello music video. This song and video was really big back then too! People requested this video all the time.
I feel like your Christmas parties this year are going to be a very active retro party and I wish I could be there because there was some really cool music playing. 😅😅🎉🎉🎉🎉
Gotta Love your Reaction videos! Especially the Tupac and Old school artist/Songs. 👍 Other Lionel Ritchie songs I say to react to are: 🔥
“You Are”
“Truly”
“Dancing on the Ceiling”
“Endless Love” ft. Shania Twain
