The king did not realize that it was Perumal who had come. The elderly Thatcher asked the king to complete the work in 21 days and that no one should open the room until he had finished his work. The king agreed. Work continued for 15 consecutive days in one room. The chisel noise was also heard outside while working. With that noise everyone knew that work was going on in the room. But the king thought that the sculptor had fallen asleep because of the noise for the next three days, and the king hurriedly opened the door to find out what was going on inside. Thus the Lord, who came in the form of a carpenter, became angry with the king for not fulfilling his vow. The statues were half-carved because there were still three days left. You opened this door without looking at the old carpenter, King Perumal. Thus the idols dedicated in this temple are only half as good. Dedicate it as it is. Devotees who come to see this will go with the idea that they should not rush into anything and should exercise patience. Perumal, who was in the role of the old man, disappeared after saying that. Realizing his mistake, the king half-carved Jagannath, Balarama and Subatra and consecrated the three idols.

Here prasadam is cooked in earthen pots. In the temple kitchen, seven vessels are stacked one on top of the other, and food is cooked in a wood-fired oven. When cooking in this way, the food in the first pot on the top is cooked before the food in the pot below is cooked. Such a miracle cannot be seen anywhere else.

ஆதி சங்கரர் நிறுவிய நான்கு பீடங்களில் ஒன்றான கோவர்தன பீடம் புரியில் அமைந்துள்ளது.
கருவறையில் ஜகந்நாதர், பலராமர், சுபத்ரா ஆகியோர் ரத்தின சிம்மாசனத்தில் அமர்ந்திருக்கிறார்கள். பலராமன் ஆறு அடி உயரமும், ஜெகந்நாதர் ஐந்தடி உயரமும், சுபத்ரா நான்கடி உயரமும் கொண்டிருக்கிறார்கள்.
இவர்கள் வெள்ளை, கருப்பு, மஞ்சள் ஆகிய நிறங்களில் காட்சி தருவார்கள்.
