Something to keep in mind with newer vehicles and lift kits. They DO affect all of your driver aids as your driver aids are extremely sensitive to relative vehicle attitude and height. The manual goes through it in some detail and gives a warning that inclination and height do effect the way the sonar sensors and cameras work.
True. One thing Chloe already installed is the TRD Pro style grill that Toyota themselves install on the Pro and trail editions that have a factory lift. This lowers the radar sensor down a few inches to compensate. I’ve found from personal experience that modest lifts don’t harm the driving aids. But yeah if you do a 3” plus lift it will likely cause issues with all these systems. You will want to adjust your headlights and possibly fog lights to not anger oncoming drivers. 👍
This works if you lift about 4” or less. Main problem I see is mid height bull bars in front of the sensors. Cameras are in the windshield for lane keep assist. Can turn that off but really it works fine. The dealer has to calibrate it anyways and they didn’t complain about mine at all. I’m on my third windshield already
I originally did the Add a leaf when I lifted my truck. Well my factory leaf springs flattened out so I did the OME HD, leafnpacks and man the difference was crazy. The ride was sooooo much better

Bumpstops are an important thing to update/upgrade (up front and in the back!). Initially I didn't, then got them a year later. Had another trip and it was a BIG difference.
Why did you go with the N98’s and not the U402’s? Since you carry all that weight in the back it would seem to me that the Stage 1 U402’s would be a better option for your truck. I’m currently in the market for a new leaf pack so any information/clarification would be appreciated. Thank you 🙏🏼

Great content! I ran a 2 inch block for 6 months and hated every minute. Upgraded to RC leaf springs and the ride is better than stock. Plus no chance of taco lean!

Those new leaf springs are 100x better than the wet noodle leaf springs that Toyota uses. OEM Toyota leafs are a joke. Your OEM leafs were actually “frowning”, i.e. sagging, they were so weak. Great video!!
Great video - I have Deaver leafs in my 2017 and some upgraded Bilstein shocks. I may reach out to accutune to see about the bumpstop and u-bolt flip. When we travel in Mexico we get loaded pretty heavy and clearance is an issue often. I think the flip can help on some of the terrain - good info!

Why the Fox shocks are not stretching out when compressed? Usually a shock should have equal amount of up and down travel so the shock sits at its mid point to allow valves to operate properly. You had just 2 inches of compression and then bottoms out. This can cause the lower or upper shock mount to break off the axle and frame respectively. A pickup truck should have several leafs in a leaf pack. My hilux LN 106 has about 7 and but the taco has 4!
Great info. I did an add a leaf pack with my lift kit to maintain that factory rake. I felt that a simple leveling kit would wind up with that nose up attitude when I put the drawer set up in the bed. I put in a 3" lift overall, and I may add new bump stops after the lift settles.
I wish that I could find a great shop to get this done at. I have tried a couple locally but they tend to stick to the larger trucks. Plus with only the use of one arm DIY is not ideal.
How much was that set up? Or should I say what would that set up cost? I'm sure you got a break.. If you don't mind ..also you should have changed your leaf spring hanger at the same time since you had them off...but looking good Chloe!!👍
Usually with leaf springs the ride quality is terrible until the tray has weight in it and is why springs are better but cant carry as much weight and gets sag when towing trailers. It is interesting to see decent ride quality with leaf springs.

Have you noticed a whining or howling sound at speeds above 40mph during decelerations and acceleration coming from your pinion bearing or carrier bearing. It’s been a issue with 3rd gens.
The diff howl on my taco dramatically reduced after I changed the oil at 55k miles. I didn't measure the old oil but I think it was low from the factory.
What lift did you add to the front. I came stock with the fox suspension trd pro so I have hesitated to lift the truck without purchasing another suspension
I got the impression that at the 1:45 mark, Deaver sponsored/donated the springs so she could put them on the truck. I absolutely love this channel and the quality and effort that Chloe puts into the content. If she was able to get product at little to no charge - more power to Chloe as I’m sure Deaver will get sales based off of this video.
Looks like weight is the main difference. She has the shorter lift fox shocks so the n98 will give 2” at stock weight. With decked she gets less lift. Imo she should’ve done u402 and the 2-3” lift fox shocks for more travel. I love that with 150+ lbs in the back. Allows for a rear high clearance bumper to be handled better
@@alexs825 She didn't want that much lift so a U402 would have been too much. She also didn't want to replace the rear shocks, so this was a good option in our eyes.
What's he benefit of rear disc brakes? Floating disc breaks need more attention than drum brakes. Better stopping power? I have a near deadly break check experience at 80 MPH by a Canadian driver in TX! I was on a Toy truck with rear drum brakes... It brought the truck to 0 MPH in no time! OEM brake shoes, drums and fresh oil is all it needs to have good brakes.

Nobody is talking about the angle of the differential after the install. I recently installed my Deaver stage II leaf packs and the angle of the differential in relation to the drive shaft is crazy. Need at least a 3 degrees shims to get it closer to where it should be.
@2A556FMJ Progressive: the spring rate increases as the spring compresses. More leafs than stock - > stiffer than stock and it becomes even stiffer as the spring compresses. But it does provide increased ride height and more travel before hitting the bump stop, so it is less likely to bottom-out. So I can see the improvement there. Assuming the leafs are just as thick or thicker than stock, the additional leafs would provide a stiffer ride.

I’ve been in Deaver equipped vehicles for almost 50k miles with maybe 500 off road. It makes your empty truck ride like it has 500lbs in it. Let’s say the spring packs (total of all leafs) were same thickness. For easy math let’s say a 10” thick spring pack On a small bump the Deavers with 10 would only engage 1-2” steel where as the OEM springs with 4 leafs at a higher spring rate at each leaf always engages 2.5” as a minimum of the pack. On the extreme opposite end, if you were to have a single 10” leaf it would ride like granite
I know this is an old comment but I’ll add one anyway. I have a ‘22 Pro and just installed K02’s E rated (got a deal) as c’s are recommended. The tires are substantially heavier than the stock tires and the suspension feels that extra weight and the ride quality went south on me. I plan on installing Deaver’s lightest leaf pack to get some lift and soften the impact of the heavy tires. On the front I am installing the Westcott 1.5 inch lift to balance it out. It also sound like installing the carrier bearing drop is also a good idea.
I had a Tacoma just like this (a ‘22) but quickly realized I needed the 6 foot bed instead. Great Truck!!

Just got the Durobumps U-Bolt Flip Kit and Bump Stops and it’s probably the best mod after the lift

I put Old Man Emu Springs on my 3rd Gen and any time they get dirty they squeak so bad. Do these new springs you are putting on ever squeak?

Might just have to long of a shock for the spring set up if shock is bottoming out.

Depending on the qwight you're carrying I'd go with the U402. I have the stage 2 and it was night and day from my add a leaf.

When you've done your lifts have you noticed a vibration and grinding noise associated with the CV axle shafts? I hear its common after doing a lift.

You might want to check your rear shocks with how easily the tech compressed the drivers side and it just stayed there. It didn’t push back out
I noticed that too and wondered the same thing🤔
We discharged the shocks at that time. Totally normal

$1200 for rear shocks, $900 for leaf springs, $250 for ubolt flip and new bumps for front + rear. Ballpark. Install is super easy so diy

The new leaf springs have 9 leafs while the old ones have 3. That looks like it will have a horribly stiff ride compared to stock.
Completely opposite. The thickness and number of the individual leafs make it progressive.
