    Great video! for those that know the channel, when you say all that about the Paradigm XR13's performance, it really means something! It is absolutely stunning! My only criticism is the price. Getting 2 is well out of my range unfortunately. The entire Founders series is a massive win for Paradigm in my opinion. I have owned quite a few Paradigm products, both subs and floor standers over the years. I often regret selling them. With great content like this, upgradeitis is difficult to control!! Can you tell me what paradigm speaker package you would go with? I’m thinking a 5.2 system. Assuming 2 xr 13s. Just need help on the left right center and best in ceiling for rears. I’m torn between the xr 13 and the jtr rs1. I’ve always been a paradigm fan and currently have a 18 year old paradigm seismic 12a that still to this day blows my mind. Just wondering what you think between the rs1 and xr13? I know the rs1 has a bigger driver but would there be a huge noticeable difference?
    Thx and keep up the good content!

    • @SpecOfTech
      @SpecOfTech  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks brother!
      There is no way to say this with certainty without proper measurements of each, but here are my thoughts. The RS1 will have more output and have lower extension than the XR13. The RS1 will still have fantastic sound quality, but I feel as though the XR13 might squeeze out a win due to the smaller driver. I felt as though the XR13 had slightly better kick than the RS2's I used to have. Maybe not as much heft or weight to it, but a faster harder kick. Typically that does work better for music than a weighted, albeit slightly slower kick. That is assuming that the RS1 operates similarly with kick being just 1 driver vs the RS2's dual driver setup. I hope that helps...cheers.

      When it comes to output, this subwoofer won't compare to the large subwoofer I have had, physics still apply. You are paying a premium for the looks of this subwoofer, no question. @@SpecOfTech You don't have to dream about 2 or even 4 XR13s. :D Just ask John from BASE Electronics for Paradigm's flagship subwoofer, the Signature SUB 2 :) Paradigm hasn't released another flagship subwoofer for over a dozen years, but has been improving the SUB 2 for over a dozen years :) SUB 2 already made a stunning impression on all reviewers a dozen or so years ago.
      The total diaphragm area of the SUB2's 6 drivers is larger than your 24" subwoofers. The tiny SUB 2 moves more air than your largest subwoofers. (10 liters) and has 150 pounds of magnetic circuits. It has lightning speed and depth (up to 7Hz) and an efficiency of 112dB at 10Hz and 126dB at 60Hz.
      I think that when John lends it to you, you will say that no subwoofer has ever made such an impression on you. If a small 13" XR13 could shake things up in your room, see what the SUB 2 will do :) He has a 4500 RMS (9000 peak) amplifier and needs 240V for full performance (but I think Johnn has a solution for this)

    Awesome review. Love that color. I have the 100f in that color. How do you think it compares to the JTR 2400. I know it’s ported vs Sealed. I have talked to JTR about custom colors and they said they can match the Paradigm Midnight Cherry.

    • @Ctripp2448

      Jtr 2400 on another planet vs this sub. Jtr all the way

    • @SpecOfTech
      @SpecOfTech  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When it comes to output, the 2400 will be pretty far ahead, it is a larger driver and it's ported. That being said, if you push the 2400 you will hear some port noise, so if that bothers you, stick to sealed. I do prefer the kick of the XR13, it just seems to be a little quicker on the draw with a faster "slap". The 2400 has a heavier weight to it's kick though. So if you are looking for the most output, the 2400 is the clear winner, no question. If you are looking for something, smaller, more pretty and possibly just a little better for music given that faster kick...then look at the XR13. I hope that helps.

    Wow I love that beautiful woofer. Very awesome. I noticed you place your back 5.1 speakers right behind your couch 🛋️. I thought those had to be put on the sides of couch and two behind the couch for 7.1? Hey aren't the JTR speakers 🔊 you had louder, cleaner, go deeper, and cost less than this one 13 inch subwoofer??🤔

    • @SpecOfTech
      @SpecOfTech  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have a 7.2.4 setup, so the speakers you see behind the chairs are my rears. The JTR subwoofers I had would definitely outperform in output vs this XR13. I wouldn't say they are cleaner though, but they do cost less...depending. It costs us a pretty penny to bring JTR into Canada. That being said, you are paying a premium for the pretty looks on this one.

    After many years of use, one of my Paradigm Servo-15 subs has died. Would the XR-13 be a worthy replacement with advancements in technology? And would you run dual subs for a large room with the XR-13? I'd love to hear any opinions!

    • @SpecOfTech
      @SpecOfTech  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would definitely run dual subs to smooth the response around the room. I have never experienced the Servo-15, so it would be hard for me to compare it to the XR13. I will say that the XR13 provides clean, powerful and quality bass for it's small size. Probably one of the, or maybe even the best performing sealed 13" subwoofers.

    can you please detail your impressions for 2 channel music and specifically mention which subs your are comparing to (for music)

    • @SpecOfTech
      @SpecOfTech  ปีที่แล้ว

      For music I would say it out classes their X15 subwoofer by quite a bit. This XR13 is fast, kicks hard and is super clean. I would say this subwoofer will shine for music. It will do a good job for home theater as well, but music is it's forte. I would say it is reminiscent of the JTR RS2, with less output of course, but it has a heavy accurate bass. I will say I feel the XR13 is a little tighter and kicks a little better than the RS2, but I am basing that off memory...take it with a grain of salt. For a 13" driver this subwoofer has a lot too offer, but it won't be an output king by any stretch.

    • @SpecOfTech
      @SpecOfTech  ปีที่แล้ว

      You would get a significant performance boost, whether it's worth the cost is up to you. With the XR13, you are getting a slightly bigger driver, but it is also way overbuilt and robust. In addition to that you are getting over double the wattage output, which when combined, should get you over 3db increase across the range, and better low end performance. That said, I have not heard or tested the SW1000, this opinion is just based off of the numbers.

      2 different beasts really. This is sealed and provides a heavier/thicker better quality of bass. The X15 is less nuanced and doesn't have the same weight behind it as the XR13. The X15 is capable of more DB when it comes to SPL though. If output is what you are after the X15 will have more output. If you are after a beautiful sub that provides better quality bass, but not as much output, the XR13 is your guy.

    Nah high gloss not a fan, shine a torch on it, see loads of Scratch marks,
    all Gloss Finishes have Scratches Embedded in it.
    Matte Finish much better

      Yup, it all depends on personal preference. I for one love the gloss finish on this one.

    Hard pass. Way overpriced for the performance. So many better options from funk, jtr, rythmik, psa, monolith to name a few. Nice looking sub though

      You are definitely paying a premium for the looks here, because the looks are absolutely killer. Performance wise, yes, you can get more for less money.

      It doesn't take a lot of money or ingenuity to make a refrigerator sized box produce bass. It most certainly does to produce incredible bass in a very small enclosure. I sure as hell don't want a giant, ugly ass box in my HT. Sure it's very expensive, but you are paying for the technology required for such a feat. You should do yourself a favor and go hear a Paradigm Seismic 110. Also, those other companies could not produce the same results with the same size, for less.

      @@billsmith3439 it absolutely requires money and ingenuity to produce a high end performance measurement subwoofer no matter the size of the box or driver and amp. It’s basic physics. Of course you can get bass in a huge box but it takes good engineering for low distortion, low group delay, high spl etc. As far as looks you will not beat a funk sub and jtr can give you a beautiful gloss finish of any color you choose. I definitely disagree that any of those companies can’t give you more performance for same money. Let’s take the funk 18e for example. Every box size measurement within 3 inches and less depth so very close in size. Same cost but the funk will have way more performance. So much much more performance for your same size enclosure. Same thing goes for the jtr rs1 very close in size but more performance. So for me I’m not interested in paying same money for a lot less performance.

      @@Ctripp2448 I have had 2 RS1's 2 RS2's and I have 2 XR13's on order. They will all be good subs but paying such a small premium for such a good looking finish and design is no big deal. These are meant to go in nice homes with nice speakers and beautiful setups not dedicated HT's. Extreme output is rarely utilized. I have had some absolutely monstrous sub setups in my time and I got sick of it. Cleaner looks with amazing sound quality is on a lot of peoples radars.

    • @Ctripp2448
      @Ctripp2448 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MusclesAVS definitely not saying they are bad subs at all. I am a price to performance guy so I want the most performance for my money. So I would take the funk 18e over this in a heartbeat for the same price. Still have the looks but a lot more performance in very similar size cabinet. I do like larger drivers much much more than smaller drivers. Not for the output but for the extra headroom that allows the sub to hardly break a sweat which leads to lower distortion which then leads to better sound quality. Smaller driver distortion will be way higher than the larger driver. Also low compression drivers such as the funk/harbottle and jtr will not change tonality when driven hard like these smaller drivers will. So to me at 5 grand it is overpriced for the performance when I can go grab a funk at same price and walk all over it. Nice for everyone to have so many options on the market though.

    nice, but way way over priced. it’s like spending 50,000 dollars on a civic.. umm ya. no. 🤦🏻🤦🏻

      I suppose it's overpriced if you are looking at peak SPL alone. It's hard to get a subwoofer that looks this good, and when you do find it...there is always a premium to pay. It's definitely not for everyone.
