I think if submissions are a factor, you might be better off turning this shot into a fireman's carry. It's definitely a bit easier to defend that choke if you're trying to grab their arm anyway, and when you take them down they aren't going to end up in guard
True, though fireman’s have a tendency to turn into the crucifix position. If you really know what you’re doing you can avoid it. Most takedowns, like all forms of offense, have vulnerabilities that can be exploited when timed properly. That doesn’t mean the fireman’s (high-c for that matter) won’t work. One just needs to be aware of the potential pitfalls 🙌🏻
