McLaren 12C with Milltek Exhaust System LOUD Sound!

I have filmed an orange McLaren 12C equipped with an extremely loud Milltek Exhaust System. Video includes the car starting up its 3.8 litre twin-turbo V8, revving and accelerating through tunnel!

I love how these McLaren V8s sound. They are indeed flat plane V8s but the reason why they sound more crossplane (like your typical American V8) is because the turbo manifolds they use are unequal length headers and the pulse pressures are not spread out evenly to the turbo, hence the difference in sound that most Flat plane V8s make. Ford uses this same trick with their header design on their GT350, which is why that engine has more of a V8 rumble. The 675LT and the 570s use different turbo manifolds than the 12c/650s that are of equal length, which is why they sound more like a flat plane V8.

I love it when crossplanes sound like a flat plane with 8-1 or 180° headers, or when flat planes sound more rumbly like a crossplane with unequal pulses
This mclaren in particular sounds like a fucking spaceship!

I agree it sounds more muscular than a Ferrari flat plane V8 because they have a tendency to sound like a pair of I4s. I like rumble more than just incessant screaming.

I dont know why, but i like the front end of the 12c more than the new P1 style front from the 650s and 675 LT.... so i would rather buy a used 12c and brin it to a tuner. Some offer a stage 3 package with more than 700 bhp, plus some other modifications like suspension etc. it would be the perfect car for me :)

Are these new McLaren V8s cross plane crank? They certainly have a much more muscular sound than flat plane V8s, like Ferrari. I think one of these would be on my list if I ever had the means instead of a Ferrari V8, Lamborghini/Audi V10 or some turbo V6(I make exception for classic n/a Dino and Lancia V6s and VR6s, I find the sound of them acceptable). A car must have a muscular V8 sound(some "screaming" flat plane V8 are nice as well F355 for example), a raucous V12, an Inline or flat 6 to really get my interest and excitement. You can only go so fast on the roads in this country and these are expensive cars that only exist to feed a visceral need. The sound and feel of the engine as well as the other vehicle dynamics are what make me excited and is what will open my wallet over prestige, vanity, "being the fastest thing on the road" or any of the rest of it.
