Snapper fish rice porridge (ingredient list provided)

  • Snapper Fish Rice Porridge
    Ingredients:
    500g of snapper fish meat (marinated with fine salt and egg white)
    1 ½ cups of pre-cooked rice (for 3 persons)
    Ingredients for Broth
    3 slices of ginger
    Snapper fish bone (marinated with fine salt and rice wine)
    1 bowl of chicken stock
    1 bowl of hot water
    Chopped spring onion
    Chopped chai poh (preserved radish)
    1 teaspoon of sole fish powder (can replaced by fried onion powder)
    1 teaspoon of fried onion
    Few dashes of white pepper
    Few drops of premium fish sauce
    ½ cap of shaoxing cooking wine (optional)
    1 teaspoon of rock sugar
    Garnishing:
    Sliced ginger
    Chopped spring onion
    Chopped chai poh (preserved radish)
    Fried garlic
    Few drops of sesame oil
    Few drops of light soya sauce
    Few dashes of white pepper
    1 piece of raw egg yolk

      This is actually teochew porridge, where you will still see the rice grain which how it should be. Cooking ah pa did mentioned in the video. You can Google teochew style porridge.

      Howard, you are thinking of British porridge, which we would call oatmeal in Malaysia. We call this dish porridge as it's demonstrated in this video in Malaysia; it's also known as congee in other parts of the world.

      I'm Malaysian and I call this kind of dish not real porridge too. Not hard to make.. After a done rice, pour a thick soup. Add meat and garnishes... Cook altogether for 5 minutes. Done 😂😂😂😂
