  • This is our first time in the Philippines. We have made our way to paradise on the island of Siquijor. This island has another side to it.
    As we made our way to Siquijor a few people told us in the comments to beware of the witches on this island. This made us curious and we had to find out what the people here were so wary of.
    In this episode we make our way up in to the mountains to find a faith healer who can perform the rare Bolo Bolo treatment, a treatment only found on this island... Spoiler, we found one.

    Originally from the Wirral, North West England we got married in 2012. After a few trips abroad we caught the #travel bug. In 2019 after 6 weeks in Japan we decided we were going to quit our jobs and take some time out to travel full time. After many delays due to the pandemic, in 2021 our dream finally came true and in November we set off on our journey.

      Have you seen the locals call the wind?
      Not just in Siquijor or the Faith healers but the local Filipinos on countryside.
      Maybe one time you may witness them calling the elemental/nature spirits unconsciously on your travels😉
      Enjoy your Trip!

      @@bighand1530 Do you know Sarimanok?
      It's a bird sent by Bathala as a messenger in a very ancient Filipino beliefs.
      Also, do you know the mentions of rooster in every religion on Earth (Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, even the very ancient ones like in Egypt etc) has mention of rooster. Even St. Peter is portrayed with a rooster. Christianity itself symbolizes as rooster.
      Now here's the fun part, on genetic studies/DNA result, the ancient rooster ancestry that were dispersed from all around the world points to a specific location in South East Asia. North Luzon.
      What is Sarimanok?

    Re: islands and places to visit, I just watched 2 videos by the Millenial Legends, an engaged American couple who featured their 6th month engagement and stay in the Phil. They featured Dumagete City on island of Negros. I bet you two would love that place. I suggest watching 2 of their videos: 6 months in the Philippines and their video on 3 Waterfalls adventure. Good eating and water adventure.

    I really love your vlogging style. Very calm, unhurried and respectful. Thing is, with other vloggers who want to cover so much they just whizz past locals with fake/superficial interactions, sometimes speaking too fast not giving enough time for the locals to process their accents, and come up with a good response.

    Thanks for featuring the Lazi convent. You two are the first vloggers, that I've seen, to feature that religious relic. Is it an active convent with religious sisters residing or more or else converted to a museum? You've got great cinematographic skills. Was that intentional to feature the two polar ends, a convent on one end and a mystical "witch's" place for healing on the other end?

    • @LostKnox
      @LostKnox  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It was a happy coincidence. Apparently the healers on the island claim that their powers come from patron saints. They seem to be Christian also.
      Most of the building was turned into a museum of sorts but we did see children being educated in another house of the convent 😊
