1225price Bernie Sanders does. He's the only candidate on either side who refuses to be beholden to corporate goons and has the guts to actually fight for the working class instead of merely giving them lip service at election time. And people are listening. In the few weeks he's been running, his campaign events have consistently drawn thousands when all the other candidates can only muster crowds of a few hundred at best. He may ultimately fail to get the nomination, but the conversation he has started will continue for a long time. Most people forget that Adams was the driving force behind independence. an unpopular man because of his refusal to compromise he could also be seen as the determination needed to stay the course. Remember in July 1776 the war was just heating up and the issue was still in doubt.
No, no. Mr Thompson is the fellow Adams speaks with at the beginning of this song. In the film, Thompson is the secretary of the Continental Congress. He was played by an actor named Ralston Hill who, according to IMDB at least, never actually appeared in anothe movie.
U.N. Owen There was that political controversy regarding the full original version, which is what I imagine Gershom Patrioticus was referring to. Apparently, Nixon had issues with it, thinking it was "insulting conservative values." Honestly, I should think that the current administration would feel similarly, so perhaps he has a point. Trump may be an... unconventional (read: insane) individual, but for the most part his followers remind me rather of Dickinson and his lot. They feel just as strongly about their causes as their opponents do, merely in a different fashion. Personally, I always identified with Adams. :-)
I know what you mean. When I was watching this film, I could've sworn I'd heard his voice somewhere before, but when I looked up the actor who played him I found out this was apparently the only movie he ever made.
One New York critic in his review dismissed the original Broadway production, complaining that it had "few songs, no dances and (only) two 'thin' girls."
I’ve seen you commenting on other 1776 songs bashing Hamilton. Just as everyone else has replied to you and as I repeat to you now, the two are completely different; they are of completely different styles and run by completely different rules. They are both genius and incredible and cannot be compared. “Eat Hamilton”, you say? “Eat real musical genius”, you say? You are no fan of Hamilton. You lie. If you were a fan, you would not think Hamilton has no “real musical genius”. If you think that, why would you like it? It would sound horrible. I wouldn’t like something that didn’t sound good either. If you were a fan, you would know, just as everybody who has given Hamilton a real chance, whether they liked it or not, the incredible talents put into it, the astonishing display of lyrical and musical genius. If you had ever given the musical a chance, you would also know what that musical truly is. You obviously do not and have no idea either. It’s pretty sad, too. You could be enjoying the world-wide phenomenon and masterpiece that is Hamilton but for some reason you refuse to want to enjoy it and therefore bash on something you’ve never even heard. Don’t bother saying you like Hamilton or have seen it; it’s very clear that you have not heard it and in never hearing it you therefore are able to dislike it for pretended reasons. Sit down, you. Grab some snacks and give Hamilton a real chance, and if you don’t like it, well that would be sad for you, but at least you would be able to appreciate the lyrical and musical genius of Hamilton, and even if you don’t like it, you couldn’t deny it’s powerful messages and will at least respect the talent of it all. Hamilton is the entire reason I have been introduced to this musical, 1776, in the first place; this musical is referenced in some lyrics in Hamilton.
@@that0nerandomperson374 I've actually seen it by now and I loved it! I'm really sorry for my comments, I wasn't trying to say say anyone who loves Hamilton more is an idiot. I still think that Hamilton doesn't hold a candle to 1776, but I do enjoy Hamilton too.
But, if we had started with England, we would have a better health care delivery system. America's system of marketplace medicine doesn't work for all of us.
Edward Branca England's health care delivery system doesn't work for all of them, either. You can find many articles on the failings of the UK's system. They include people being left to die in wards via neglect, something we can at least say does not happen here. America's marketplace system works for most people. And for those that can't use that we have medicaid & medicare. Reform those programs, if needed; ensure a robust economy to increase the employment that will allow people to buy in to the healthcare insurance marketplace. Don't do stupid power grabs disguised as healthcare reform like Obamacare, or socialization/government control of the entire system like the UK. Don't tear down the entire system that WAS working for most people cus all that will end up happening is it will STOP working for even more. Apologies if that came off kinda ranting. Edward Branca We had a better healthcare delivery system. It was corrupted in the 80s by making it for-profit controlled by the insurance industry and overseas pharmaceutical companies. Seemed to work just fine when it was non-profit...and American.
WRONG!!!! People in Canada and the UK who have money come HERE for Healthcare because it is still the best in the world. Marketplace ANYTHING is better than Government Rationing and "Death Panels" where you are denied healthcare.
It was never non-profit, there always has been a profit element involved. What do you think makes more sense? Let a rich investor die of cancer and cure some welfare hobo of their cancer so they can keep sucking off the system? That what will happen if Bernie Sanders is allowed into the White House! I would rather the welfare hobo be given some pain killers and told to F-off and have the rich investor cured of his cancer because it is the rich investor who contributes more to society a million times more than the welfare hobo.
