It's very easy to accidentally get on a toll road. Sometimes it's not easy to see the signs. Toll roads in Dallas can be anywhere such as crossing over a bridge or leaving one area and entering another.
For Tx Toll tag, once you have created an account online and ordered a Tag and add $20-40 to the Account, you will be able to use the Toll Roads 1-2 hours after creating account
Great video for inquiring minds. An out-of-state individual can obtain a toll tag without a Texas Drivers license. Also the county in which your car is registered they will put a hold on your renewal if an individual hasn’t paid on their toll account. Depending on your balance NTTA will put the individual on a payment plan requiring a down payment which a person can renew after one receives documentation from NTTA to present to the county. Also when you get a new debit card update your toll account. Another thing is the toll way/express lanes are a cleaner ride for your vehicle. P.S. NTTA will get their money!!!
I moved to Fort Worth and the toll roads was one of the reasons I left Texas. I'm still waiting for my toll bill in the mail after 3 and a half months, the other reasons were the lack of trees, low wages and it was always windy and cold. I lived in Northside a Hispanic area in Fort Worth. One day I was working on my car and a guy in back of a truck threw a water bottle at me almost hitting me on the head and then flipped me off. I'm a white guy but I'm not sure if that was the reason he did that or if it was random. I moved back to North Carolina after a couple of months, Texas was a bust in my experience.
I used the toll ways by mistake about 6 months ago on my first trip to Texas and they never sent me a bill. I guess I better get a toll pass. 6:11 The website says I don't need to be a texas resident to get a toll pass. No problems entering my out of state details.
Texas is making it difficult on purpose so they can collect. We have sun pass and you can walk into Walgreens and get the scanner to use the tolls. Plus, when we get it and you had any toll fees on your license plate they decrease the bill to the discounted rate for having the sun pass. But, I learned a lot when in Texas ensure that our rental has a toll pass.
In California they have signs to pay online if you don't have toll pass. My charge was 8.00 I was sent to toll way from Google maps. It was a few people on there was worried how many toll charges racking up.
If they use sticker, your SOL and need to be billed by them. If they use transponder, you could try to detach it from windshield and put it in RF shield bag like folic aluminium paper and put it in glovebox. Then put your own transponder from Texas but then you need to plan in advance to buy order one before you hit tollways which can be hassle. Unfortunanly, unlike EZ-PAS I-PASS (Illinois), the tollway systems in other parts of the countries are pretty much fragmented and not inter-operable with each other with few exceptions such as Georgie and Florida.
Actually the toll roads are public-private partnerships. Everyone pays for their roads in one way or another... higher taxes on gas for example which Texas doesn't have compared to California. And as they said... you don't have to drive the toll roads. Also, most people don't know this, but Texas is about to become the first state in the country to have a bullet train. It will run between Dallas and Houston, so there is a lot of diversity in Texas regarding transportation.
I have EZ Tag from Harris County Toll Road Authority. Is this accepted by NTTA? Thanks PS, I know the EZ tag by Harris County Toll Road Authority accepts NTTA tagged vehicles as long as they are in good standing. I am not sure if that works the other way aroung?
NTTA not compatible with EZ Tag/Pass. Wish the fed would step up and standardize on a method for all states to collect tolls and parking so you don't have all these gizmos and stickers plastered all over your windows. By the time you're done with a cross country trip your car has more stuff stuck to it than a children's coloring book.
Service road speed limits vary. Sometimes it's as slow as 35, and within suburbs city limits it's usually 45. 55 is normal in between towns. 60 is "normal" in certain big cities, but generally the posted limit is 35-45mph. This allows traffic from side streets an opportunity to safely jump into the flow. Ride safe, y'all. It's for everyone's benefit. Speed kills, as they used to say.
this video explains it all! give this video a thumbs up if you are ready to hear all the scoop on about the Dallas Tollways!

Whew the tolls are taxing and they know it’s the fastest route to get to and from a destination.

Thank you for doing this video. I'm moving in February and I wanted to know if I should get a toll tag.
Should I get one if I don't live in TX but come into the State regularly
thanks for this video!
Your welcome!
What if you are visiting from out of state? And in a rental car?
If you are in rental car. You will be billed. So you’ll still have to pay the toll

What about changing your car/ multiple cars
Charging to use public roads seems 🤔 pretty fishy they are on public property and roads are not private

So toll roads are optional? What church do you go to? I’m thinking of moving to Dallas
Yes Toll roads are optional
Can I take the streets to my destination?
You can that service road or the free way
Love ur videos
What if my car has temporary license plate?
We just got our toll passes and have Nevada License. They didnt care. Maybe somethings changed?
Yes some things has changed well do an update video.
Txtag, NTTA, why do they have 2 different websites? So dumb.
I have EZ Tag from Harris County Toll Road Authority. Is this accepted by NTTA?

i've lived here for 8 years and never paid a toll. i've never had an issue with registration either.
Huh? You must have never been on a toll road
I recieved a third notice today with no first or second notices. This is a bullshit company!
