    There aren't many songwriters better than this guy. He deserves wider acclaim.

    a man, a microphone, a harmonica and a guitar....thats all he needed to make this beautiful piece of music...what a great artist

      @consciouscoma85 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you know you have talent when you can entertain a crowed of people with just an acoustic guitar, harmonica ,and a mic .

      @@consciouscoma85 He's great but once I saw him at a small venue and he was not himself. Didn't seem like Steve or how I thought he might be and he made no connections to small audience and didn't seem that interested in being there. Probably just a bad night.

    An underappreciated American treasure, Steve is. So many amazing songs in his catalog. This one was an inspired performance. Touching, beautiful stuff.

    Check out his albums "Mission of the Crossroad Palms" and "Rocking Horse Head" for a wonderful renaissance in the 1990s.

    Man. Steve Forbert gets everything right with this song. Full manifestation of his talent and inspiration. I identify: "I blinked once, and it was gone." 🙋🧡

    Childhood often seemed a pain to me
    So hard waiting to be grown
    childhood climbed up in a white oak tree
    I blinked once and it was gone..

    3:25: The pain becomes too intense for voice, so he deploys his harmonica. What a privilege to listen to this.

    I had heard Romeo's Tune but had no idea he was from Meridian, Mississippi about a 2 1/2 hour drive away from where I grew up until I listened to "Streets of This Town" and I thought, "why don't we talk about him being a famous Mississippian as much as Oprah, Walter Peyton, or Jim Henson?" Brilliant, simply brilliant.

    STREETS OF THIS TOWN is one of my favorite albums of the 80s. The songs still go through my head, especially "Live and Breathe" and "Mexico." Taped it off the radio premiere on WNEW-FM and saw Steve at a club in NYC when he was touring to support it. Used to think this was called "Gone" - shows you how few titles I got while taping. Raise your hand if you know what STREETS OF THIS TOWN is about: it was his comeback when he got sober. That's why it's more spiritual than his earlier work.

    Every once in a while I come back to watch and listen to this performance...I've seen Steve on so many occasions and he never once disappointed. My twenty-one year old son's verdict- 'a class act!'. Irrespective of generational differences, good is good- and this guy is great!

    under rated is an under statement. ..if it were not for his early commercial success i would have never known who Steve Forbert was .he is living proof that commercialism does not have to kill the artist in you. he is still making music to day .

    Pardon the geriatric brain. I saw Steve Forbert in Newport I believe in the late 70's early 80's with I believe about 3 or 4 acts total. I believe Judy Collins was the headliner. That was not the case as I went away so impressed by Forbert. It was great to have him pop up on Utube & listen to various performances by him.
