I would say "that badminton hall (or gym) has 14 badminton courts." If it was also used for other sports, I might call it a "sports hall" or just "gymnasium (gym)". Smoking... yuk!
I always though "gym" was used to describe either class in school or the place you go work out. Guess I have been away from native English speakers too long! Haha. Thanks for clearing that up. And yeah, double yuck for the smoking. Whenever I see people smoking or passing out cigarettes (as courtesy) I always yell out "bad guys!"
"We're badminton people. We can handle a little squstting." LOL Your gym is super cool. Mine is similar kinda but a looot smaller. Also we usually say Badminton Gym, Club, or Center with X number of courts
How much smaller? Is it expensive to rent for an hour? Also we say a "badminton club" is a group of people that play together, but you say a club is a place too? So would you say "Our badminton club plays at a small badminton club?" Trying to figure out the language is tricky! haha
@@BadmintonBecky The one i play at, Club28, only have 5 courts at the moment and is trying to expand. We don't really use club as a word for a group we'd use team. But Members of Club28 would just be club members. Also it is much more expensive here. It's 12 per person per day for walk it or $50-$70 an hour to rent a private court. If you pay walk in they try to set players up together, usually based on level, so everyone gets to play.
It's called Xiong Wei Badminton courts which in English means something like "Powerful courts." (Although Xiong is also my coaches name so it works for 2 meanings.)
I've played at badminton halls where the court is made of: 1) wood flooring 2) thick mat on top of wood flooring 3) thin mat on top of concrete Guess which one causes the most knee, leg, & ankle pain?
Thin mat on concrete! I haaatee playing on a concrete floor. Even after just one session my knees feel creaky. AndI don;t have knee problems at all, so I can only imagine what it would feel like if I did.

Damn, $50-$70 per court per hour?! $12 per day is better but that can add up quick too.
@@BadmintonBecky Yeah it adds up. I heard a club in New York charges $16 a day.
What's the name of that stadium
