The F-14 truly is the muscle car of fighter aircraft. There may be sleeker more modern craft out there now, but none of them have the sexy curves of the Tomcat.
The slightly hunched up wing roots and angled out nacelles is what does it for me. Every time. Flankers have the same canted nacelles but they have flat wing roots, so it is not quite as dramatic looking.

Also, Keith "Okie" Nance recently said, he pulled 12.5G turn in the F-14 and the airframe had absolutely no stress damage. He paid rich tribute to Grumman Ironworks. It truly was built like a tank.
Correct me if i'm wrong but, Isn't the F-22 the most powerful fighter US has ever produced with maximum thrust of ~35,000 Lbs each engine? Also I believe some F-15 variants used the F110 turbofan engine.

I remember in 2006 when we were staying in the cabins on Lighthouse Point on KNPA, a Black Lions F-14 was giving flights to (I guess) students and sailors on some kind of retirement flight. After being used to T-6s and the occasional Goshawk and odd F-18s, the sound woke me up and I went outside to watch it from the point. Well said Kyle. :) The F-14 Tomcat was and is a very special plane. The engineering and technology that went into were first rate and very innovative, especially with its swing-wing design, which provides a phenomenal combination of high speed and excellent maneuverability. No other plane in the world can do what the Tomcat could and can do. Sadly, it was retired after the cold war was over and long range threats from Soviet bombers no longer existed. Unfortunately, the powers that be that cancelled the Tomcat program were not very forward thinking and now, just a few short years later, our aircraft carriers are now facing the very real threat of long range anti-ship missiles. To counter this threat, a very high speed interceptor/fighter is needed to be able to intercept enemy planes that can launch these anti-ship missiles. Both the F/A-18 Hornet and F-35 the Navy currently is using are about 400 mph slower than the F-14 Tomcat, leaving them comparatively very deficient in defending our aircraft carriers. That's a huge speed advantage the F-14 Tomcat provides and can make the difference between one of our aircraft carriers being hit with anti-ship missiles or not. The need for the F-14 Tomcat has once again arisen, if that need ever even went away. Grumman has the next evolutionary step of the F-14 Tomcat all ready to go in blueprints. It's an amazing, even better plane than the F-14 Tomcat and is known as the F-14 Super Tomcat. This plane needs to be built and the sooner the better. It's an amazing, even better plane than the F-14 Tomcat and is known as the F-14 Super Tomcat. This plane needs to be built and the sooner the better. As a side benefit, building this plane would put thousands of Americans to work at a time we need that most. Here is the link to this outstanding plane; www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/29653/this-is-what-grummans-proposed-f-14-super-tomcat-21-would-have-actually-looked-like?fbclid=IwAR2gopwZXDPcnQsK7GLiqt1Clf-DFMi5VesHRAUjcQRmy2GH-ndkm36fKmk
Will you pleasepleaseplease bring it out already! You guys are killing me! Thank you so much for all the amazing work and dedication done. I watched Top Gun as an 11 year old boy, and it got me started in aviation. You are making me feel that age again. Kid in a candy store!!! Thank you!
Relax, it's just a computer game
@Frederick Haas To live up to his username
Turd Furgeson Relax Turd, it's just a name.
Reminds me of the original LOMAC days (year 2003, evolved into DCS) where I used to play both audience and pilot to perform a show :D This jet looks amazing. We have come a long way.
The only thing missing is the smell of popcorn, cotton candy, and jet fuel. Simply superb work!
I saw a VF-101 "Grim Reapers" F-14B demonstration at Andrew's Air Force Base in 1998. This video took me back to that!
Great display. Despite being enhanced, I hope this sound quality is the aim for the Tomcat.
Their viggen still uses the standard Su-25 engine sound.
I'm not crying, just got some JP fumes in my eyes..
No shame in that my friend!!❤
That was AWESOME! Thanks for sharing! Just like I remember the demos.
Just like being at an Airshow... Good Job, guys!
i feel so maverick when watching this, the soundtrack makes a great work to
rene ziesig 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
This takes me back in time to become a wide eyed grinning kid again! Well done Heatblur!
simply awesome guys... dont let us wait
Nice simulation, and the sounds were pure *incredible*
Thanks for the pukin dogs livery.... my old squadron from Viet Nam. We were flying the F4J then. Harley Hall was CO, last to be shot down. Read his story, he was X blue angel and a hell of a pilot..
I wonder if we'll ever find out what happened to Harley???...
Holly shit.
So great....video..
I love this...
Anytime Baby..!!
Incredible guys - those sounds are awesome....
Brilliantly flown demo profile. From the precision of your maneuvers to the sound. Man I miss the Turkey.
***also 60k in thrust, not 35k as stated.
I just realised some of the sound effects are from the 2003 Aviation Nation Grim Reapers F-14B demo at Nellis AFB due to the sounds not being fully developed at the time, still fucking badass demo
That was great. Felt like I was watching a real life demo. awesome job.
Outstanding Video.
I grew up a couple miles from miramar and in the shadow of this beasty beauty. Id just sit outside watching the pattern for hours. Even got a 1am high speed burner pass over the house one time lol my mom called the cops cuz she thought it was an attack! Hilarious! I miss this bird so much ty!
This is great! What's that last song, after the landing? It's fantastic!
