Well thank you Tim! It really is a great book and I'm looking forward to giving it a thorough review. AND, I'm looking forward to trying a bit more Euro nymphing this year. You've inspired me to break out the 10-foot 3-wt. :-)
Wow! I like the looks of this one. Looks like this would be a great tie. Also a book worth having. Thanks Matt. Wishing you and your family a very prosperous and Happy New Year’s. Thanks for all you do my friend. God bless.
Well thank you Joe! We had a nice relaxing week at the farm. But it's always nice to get home. Hope you had a great Christmas and have a happy new year too!
Great looking fly. Happy New Year! Didn't do much fishing this year, but thanks to your videos I picked up a few great books and tied many flies. Thank you!
Well that's very cool to hear! Not that you didn't get to fish much, but that you got a few new books. I love tying books, but should probably spend 2025 just going through all the ones I picked up last year and haven't spent a lot of time with yet. :-)
I'll probably never get into Euro Nymphing but nice looking tie . I'd probably try this fly while ice fishing. Happy New Years Matt . Looking forward to more videos in 25
Well I appreciate it David! I'm not big into Euro nymphing either. I do have a 10-foot 3-wt but I hardly ever break it out. Maybe I should give it more of a try this year. :-)
Good morning Matt. Hope you had a wonderful Christmas with your family. I’m looking forward to Tim’s book being released and your review. We are still north of the border for at least a week to 10 days yet. We’ve had exceptionally mild weather through Christmas so hopefully that holds for a bit yet. Take care and all the best in the New Year ahead.
Well thank you John! We did have a great Christmas. It was cold, but nice and relaxing. I hope you and the family enjoyed yours and you have a great new year too!
Great to hear Tom! A couple folks said they've used a chartreuse tail and hot spot and that has worked well for them. Hope you had a great Christmas my friend. :-)
Thanks Jim! You're going to like it. It really is a solid book. His first one, "Fly Tying for Everyone" was solid, but it was fairly small. This one is much more substantial. I hope you and Joyce had a great Christmas and get off to a great 2025! Lisa and I are going to plan our vacations in a couple of days. I'll let you know when my week for the Smoky Mountains is. :-)
You know Jim, I'll bet any color we typically use for a hotspot would work too. I'm thinking pinks, yellows, or reds. But I like your idea of chartreuse. :-)
Good Morning Sir Matt, 🎊 🎉 Happy New Year. I love this fly , I’ve never tied one but I’m going to now. Keep them coming. As always thank you for all you do Matt.
Good morning Matt!!! I appreciate the variety of fly patterns that you share with us! Even though I am at the academy, I still keep up with the videos! Tight lines! 😎🎣
A happy holidays to you Matt. Nice fly. Looking forward to the review. And a happy New Year's also. Went out coastal cutthroat fishing yesterday caught 2 nice 12 inchers
Nice looking fly. Ive been tying a variation of this with a tiny tuft of orange marabou (I don’t have any fluorescent floss) for the tail and a copper wire instead of silver that seems to work well
Hope you had a good Christmas. Any emus for presents? Did you mean for the bead to be on the main shaft of the hook rather than right behind the hook eye?
Hahaha! No emus for me, but you know what? Remember all the grief I got for pronouncing it "eee moo" as opposed to "ee MEW?" I saw the Liberty Mutual commercial recently and they pronounced it the way I originally did. That's probably the only place I'd heard it. Anyway, I feel slightly vindicated. Now as for that bead, nope, I totally did not mean for it to be that far up the shank. I got it right in my practice fly right before recording but somehow this one didn't seat all the way up. And I just didn't feel like redoing it late last night. Thanks for the note and I hope you had a great Christmas!
Great content, as always! Just a quick off-topic question: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How can I transfer them to Binance?
Love using the blowtorch and I’ve had loads of success with it … I use CDC as the collar … one point I don’t think you had the bead set correctly on the final fly … it started out great (directly behind the eye) but then somehow migrated down the shank 🤷♂️
I know, right?? I didn't catch that it slid up until I was about done. And when it's midnight and I've still got editing to do, I just went with it and thought hopefully it'll fish and won't fall apart on me. I guess we'll see. :-)
Just a question. The "shellback" on that fly will be on the bottom if I'm correct in thinking that fly will ride with the hook point up. I guess I'm just wondering why the shellback is on the bottom of the fly and not on the top as it rides in the water. I don't know, maybe I'm all wet. Keep the good stuff coming Matt.
That's a great question Dave and Tim actually addressed it in the book. His theory (or maybe it was Devin's) was that these bugs toss and turn so much under the water in the currents, that they're going to see it from all angles anyway. And I guess that's as probable as anything. :-)
Great looking fly, Matt, and thanks so much for the shout-out of my new book. Keep up the amazing content and Happy New Year!
Thanks for Sharing Tim. I love your work also.
Well thank you Tim! It really is a great book and I'm looking forward to giving it a thorough review. AND, I'm looking forward to trying a bit more Euro nymphing this year. You've inspired me to break out the 10-foot 3-wt. :-)
@@TimCammisa Good luck with your book Tim!
Good Luck with the book, Tim. Not sure about the Euronymphing but I caught my first trout nymphing this past fall. So now I will have to try some more
I own a signed copy of "Fly Tying for Everyone" and plan to buy his new book too.
Welcome back! I hope your time was relaxing. Nice fly. I like the hotspot tail. Thanks for tying the Blowtorch!
Wow! I like the looks of this one. Looks like this would be a great tie. Also a book worth having. Thanks Matt. Wishing you and your family a very prosperous and Happy New Year’s. Thanks for all you do my friend. God bless.
It's one of my favorite flies, Matt

Nice fly there Matt! Looking forward to that book's release. As a bibliophile, I can never have too many books!
I hear you Troy! I'm the same way my friend. :-)
G’morning Matt. Great pattern for cold water. Works great in other color variations too. Perfect choice to show the crowd this time of year.
Great to hear Tom! A couple folks said they've used a chartreuse tail and hot spot and that has worked well for them. Hope you had a great Christmas my friend. :-)
@ Yes, very nice, white and quiet, thanks Matt. 🌲
Thanks Matt 👍
Good morning 😉☕️☕️
I saw Tim’s book the other day nice you are doing a review.

Love the blow torch!
It certainly has become a staple for tight-line nymph fishers. I might just have to break out my nymphing rod more often this year. :-)
First time I tied one, I didn't have the flourescent orange for the tail. I subbed chartreuse. It worked fantastic!
You know Jim, I'll bet any color we typically use for a hotspot would work too. I'm thinking pinks, yellows, or reds. But I like your idea of chartreuse. :-)

Nice fly. I will try this for panfish tomorrow.
Cool to hear! Good luck with it my friend. :-)
At 3:10 when your thread wrap caught the glow brite and laid it down perfectly I was like "YES!" Didn't even know i was that guy. It just happened.
Hahaha! I guess you are *that* guy. I probably am too Chris. Hope you had a great Christmas my friend. :-)
happy new year Matt, keep the flies coming in 2025.
Well thank you Denis! I hope you had a great Christmas and a happy new year too my friend. :-)
Nice tie job bud 😊
Appreciate it Brian! Hope you had a great Christmas my friend. :-)
Nice looking fly. Ive been tying a variation of this with a tiny tuft of orange marabou (I don’t have any fluorescent floss) for the tail and a copper wire instead of silver that seems to work well
Cool to hear! I think marabou would be a great version. It might actually have a slight bit of movement in the current.
👋Thanks Matt
Hope you had a good Christmas. Any emus for presents?

Why is the bead so far above the eye? @@SavageFlies
@@CalyxCrewPodcast Because I just screwed it up and didn't notice until I was done. ;-)
