The ceasefire in Ukraine between pro-Russia forces and the Ukrainian military technically ended on Monday, but the ceasefire never lived up to its name. VICE News correspondent Simon Ostrovsky traveled to several checkpoints around the eastern city of Sloviansk and spoke to soldiers who had been attacked by pro-Russia forces in recent days - attacks that resulted in dozens of deaths.

And I think that neither of them are lying, since both sides have their trigger happy hotheads and rogue groups that aren't controlled by anybody. There can be no ceasefire. But Ukrainian army should definitely stop shellings and bombings inside the cities, where many civilians may get hurt.

Exactly - I think there are SO many brainless idiots, and really poor organisation on both sides that I think despite the ceasefire both sides had some morons that ended up shooting the other side because... well they were pumped up on vodka and Putin/ Kiev propaganda, and had no brains of their own.
And so both sides ended up thinking that other other "evil" side had voilated the ceasefire.

ZX Spectrum of course the pro Russian rebels are getting funded by Russia, rebels are marching from Russia and getting passed their 40k+ troops along the Ukrainian border pretty easily. Russia has the technology to see troop movements in many different ways as well as a well defended border and yet these rebels are getting by because putin wants them to get by.

Why they did not mention that the checkpoint was shelled from their side to repel self-defense forces? Even with their wounded friends laying on ground? Currently friendly fire does more casaulties than self-defense troops.

Only problem I have with pro russians is that the majority of the people on youtube and all over the internet people say y'all are fighting against fascists because the Ukraine government tried to make Ukrainian language the national language and the right sector was a big part of the protest (correct me if I'm wrong) and y'all are strictly anti fascist..

After reading the comments section, I've been noticing that there's a lot of "Kiev is good" or "Pro-russians are good" etc. but what you people have to understand is that there is no black and white, but a gray situation where no one side is good or bad. As from of a month ago I decided not to choose a side because too much shit was happening of kiev this or seperatist that(But I am still interested to see what happens). Obama and Putin both have their hands stuck in Ukraine and they're both not the greatest guys. I do feel bad for the people with their houses getting destroyed in the east, but I don't necessarily blame the ukrainian army. I don't think they are doing it intentionally( I hope not) but this is war (I know its not war, but its a armed conflict involving the military so im going to call it that) and collateral damage does happen,no one likes it but it happens. but also if there are enemy combatants in an occupied building firing on them, by all means they have the right to fire on it.

let me make this clear that the "Russian separates" are Ukrainian civilians that support Russia, and the Russian government has almost nothing to do with this. Its Ukraine's fault they cant keep their own people happy

Whats the point of sending soldiers to fight if your only going tie their hands behind their backs?
"They couldn't shoot back until they were fired upon" This sentence makes no sense. That's the point of the ceasefire. If the other side starts shooting you can respond, otherwise you don't shoot, and if you start shooting at the other side before you are fired upon then it's not called "shooting back"
that means the enemy can get closer to you, before they start firing, without a ceasefire, they could do suppressive fire, therefore not letting the enemy to get closer

The situation is very absurd. Poroshenkos ceasefire/peace initiative meant, that the separatists would be seen as partners and representatives, even though they are hardly representing russian-speaking ukrainians, in fact they are just insurgents, who took up arms almost entirely unprovoked, unless you want to call a weak central government a provocation. What's also interesting is, that the separatists are so extremely well-armed and semi-well trained, it's absolutely impossible, that the separatists just stormed buildings and got all their weapons there. Russia clearly supports them logistically, politically, financially and militarily in some form also. And that the separatists then strongly shoot at soldiers during the ceasefire, while they don't, makes it even more possible, that the russian officials just want to escalate this as much as possible.
I guess, russia wants to destabilize Ukraine, so that their probable future democratic model doesn't affect russian-speakers, who could then threaten Putin's own rule. After all it's not about russia, but about Putin and his rule on russians and his cleptocracy is under threat, and when it's about money and power, people don't care for ethics, then other people have to suffer for them, which are ukrainians on both sides...
