    You should maybe consider a closed design that pulls the air to the back. If you make it so that the only intake is your pink grid you can get the air to be way more laminar.

      I was thinking the same thing. Close the side and top, keep the grid at the front but move the fan(s) to the rear of the tunnel. This will allow for less turbulence at the grid because the smoke will be pulled instead of pushed.
      What’s the scale speed of the wind?

    4:00 That is why you must put the fans on the back sid for suction. The fun create a lot of turbulance on the exit.
    The wire and oil is nice idea but look to costly and hard to deal with eat when working on project.
    And vertical mode will be better for analisis. In horizontals you cant see the lamination and where drag start happen.

    Have you thought about making long exposure photographs? I think you could achieve a more 'precise' visualization of the airflow as a mean.

    tryna do this for science fair, what can you use to run a current through the nichrome wire, and will any amount of current work?

      you can find charts of expected temp vs wire gauge and current. I recommend getting a cheap adjustable DC power supply

    Hey, I was wondering how many volts battery should I use for a 4.390 ohm nichrome wire and how do i connect the wire to the battery? I am making a wind tunnel for a school science experiment. Your video was great and explained a simpler way of making the tunnel😁 idk if u still have the project but it would be great if u could help me out

    This is AMAZING!! I love wind tunnels and have been working on one. I really like the contraction cone, much more optimal that the more rectangular ones you see more. I 3D printed the air laminator too on my new one, and it's so much easier than cutting hundred of drinking straws XD

    • @Benjijart

      You could probably make a dispenser system with a peristaltic pump and some kind of manifold to automatically drip onto the heat wire. Or gravity-fed like a funnel that leads to drip-nozzles or something idk.

    hey, i tried connecting my nichrome wire to new batteries (4,5 and 9V respectively) but they don't heat up. When connected to the wire the voltage of the battery is measured to be 0,3V. what are the exact voltages and current of the battery you use for your wire?

    • @Benjijart
      @Benjijart  ปีที่แล้ว

      I used a 2S lipo battery. Internal resistance of alkaline batteries might be too high which could explain why the terminal voltage drops like that if thats what youre using. If you connect many 9V alkaline batteries in parallel it might be enough.

    Hey man im wondering how you connect the nickel chromium wire to the battery, im thinking about doing this as a science fair project. Can you post a video on what it looks like from the back and how you connected everything. idk if u even still have it but if u do mind showing what it looks like from the back. Anyways a great video and a great idea as it solved a whole bunch of questions i was looking for!

      @@Benjijart Hey is it possible to use a 9v battery to heat up the wire, maybe 2 or 3 of them lined up? I'm not trying to go out and spend a lot on a power supply or something too expensive and I'm wondering if theirs an alternate way to heat it up.

    • @Benjijart
      @Benjijart  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@younesbahiani probably yes but they have less power output so you may have to use really thin wire. there are tables online that equate current to temperature for different gauges of nichrome wire. You should also be able to find ohm/m for a given gauge of wire. Use ohms law and don’t forget the internal resistance of the battery in your calculations

    Hi.
    I know this isn't related to the video, but I need to ask you something.
    I made an upgraded version of your accesibility mouse controller for a school project (I just added a few buttons, made them bigger and easier to press and it just feels better that way in my opinion).
    And I was thinking about patenting it and selling it.
    I know it isn't exactly the same product as what you did, so I don't think I need your permission. But I feel like it is the right thing to do, since your video gave me the idea.
    I hope you see this, if you don't I will probably comment the same in your next video (sorry if that bothers you, it's just very important to me).
    I hope you the best, you make great projects and videos.
    See ya.

      I think that's fine. As long as your controller does not use my 3D printed component which i designed and is under a creative commons, non-comercial licence. Furthermore, you will have to check with the author of the arduino library since the entirity of the code is his design but it looks like his licence is commercial.
