Ben Speer when you sing “Beautiful Star 🌟 of Bethlehem “ tears fill my 👀 & run down my 😂 with so much love for our SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST. HE was such a wonderful blessing who loved us so much & suffered a terrible death for us loving us unconditionally. Please,PLEASE keep singing this song for everyone to hear & hold in their ❤s. I want to hear it in Heaven. Thank you!!
Wonderful moment and probably one of the last times the whole family was on stage together. This video was released in 1998 and Brock Speer passed in early 1999. Couldn't help but love Brock, Ben, Mary Tom and Rosa Nell. Classic Southern Gospel music!
The Speer family sings this song with so much emotion in there heart.. Im sure it helps that their father Dad Speer wrote an also the fact that one day in their lives the GLORY DID ROLL when they excepted Christ as their Savior... As George Younce use to say, if this dont lite your fire the wood is wet amen
Very nice when Ann Downing, Sue Dodge and Jeannie Johnson came down to join in. They had all previously sung with the Spears so they were family. Now the Speers have all gone to glory. Remembering Brock Speer (1920-1999); Mary Tom Speer Reid (1925-2014); Faye Ihrig Speer (1928-2015); Rosa Nell Speer Powell (1922-2017) and Ben Speer (1930-2017). Their music is still blessing us all.
Bass Singer 957:: Wikipedia is wrong if Sue Dodge is alive. Sue Chenault Dodge, born Jan. 1950, lived with th Speer family ( gospel group) in '70s, southern gospel singer, passed Feb 8 2016 pneumonia. Check with Wikipedia or Google Sue Dodge, has brief bio, pics etc.
Barbara Wilkes I didn’t check Wikipedia. I was TH-cam and saw that Jeannie Johnson wished her congrats on 50 years in gospel music literally about a year ago. Also she has a TH-cam Channel, she sang with the hoppers a year ago. She is now retired I think. She may be still singing i really don’t know, I do know that she ain’t dead
Bass Singer 957: really don't know, only by Wikipedia & google. One site does state she is alive, one gives info about her death. Thankful she is still alive, according to you. She not only has a beautiful, powerful voice but also a wonderful personality. Thanks for enlightment.
I was kneeling one day asking God to forgive me I was deep in despair, had no peace within I surrendered my all unto Jesus my savior then the glory came down I was saved from sin O the glory did roll, I was happy and free I had heard a sweet voice speaking pardon to me such a wonderful joy I was given within when the savior in love saved me from all sin I will praise his dear name for the wonderful victory and with joy in my heart all along the way I am longing see heaven's glorious city and to hear the Lord call "Come and live for aye" O the glory did roll, I was happy and free I had heard a sweet voice speaking pardon to me such a wonderful joy I was given within
I am 50 yrs and my mom got me listening to the Gaithers and Speer Fam n Sue Dodge and I MISS ALL THEM TOGETHER...NO GENERATION WILL BEAT THESE GUYS!!💚 I listen to this song everyday💙
The Speers have all passed on now and only Sue and Jeannie are still living Bro Brock passed in 98 Bro Ben followed in17 Mary Tom passed in 14 and Rosa Nell in 17. I forgot to add Mrs Ann Downing is also still living as Karen Apple
Barbara Wilkes she has not passed away, her friends just last year congratulated her on 50 years in singing gospel music. she may have had pneumonia but she ain’t dead. she has retired and is pastoring a church with her husband.
I recall the Speer Family having a hit with about the worst gospel song I ever heard, "Surely I Will." I say worst because we are saved by grace NOT our own good works. The absolute worst gospel song I ever did hear went: "Well, a little bit or earth/and a little bit of gravel/ain't gonna hold me/I'm a gonna travel . . ."
@@veninarayale8363 The Speer Family song, "Surely I Will," lyrics are in part: If working and praying/Has any reward/Then surely some morning/I'll meet my dear Lord. This is the opposite to Baptist doctrine that we are saved by the grace of God, NOT our good works.
Thank you to all those who came before us lifting the banner of music and love forever for us. Praising God his son and lifting our spirits.

Sue Dodge is by FAR the best singer in the Gaither orbit and she doesn't get enough attention or credit.
The Great and Unmatched Speer Family - (The Powerhouse Five)
Precious Golden oldies still sing beautifully, Thankyou Lord.
