Who knew that over 60 years ago that Bill and Gloria would do so much for our music. I remember how Bill didn't want to lose the southern gospel or any of those groups. He cause them to be in the forefront again and that is the best thing he did. In 1956-57, I just thought he and his brother and sister were just good singers. I got to hear several of their concerts for free at Anderson College and Theological Seminary (ACTS). The church and the college were singing all the time with all types of singers and players. Except for home, Anderson is the only other place I have ever been homesick for.

I’m a born and raised Louisiana Catholic but my grandmother was a saved Baptist from Oklahoma and I watched the Gaither programs with her a lot and The Hoppers were one of her favorites. She passed in 2020 at 94 and I find so much joy in watching these old videos that we watched on VHS for years. It’s SHOUTING time!!!

Gaither music is made up of many groups and soloists. Hard to go wrong listening to any of those people. Some new groups you may want to try are Southern Rival Gospel, and Southern Raised. Compared to me, they are a young group with new sounds.

Amen! As a gen z pentecostal, rest assured we are trying our best! I ran from the lord for a long time, even though I've been in church my entire life. I love all the Gaither music it is so energetic and full of the Spirit of the LORD. This music is not Baptist or Pentecostal, but the Believer's testimony of what Christ will be to us all. Love you all in Christ, we belong to Him remember that!

I have always loved the hoppers. I know when ms. Connìe walked thru heavens gates what a celebration they had . She had a beautiful voice and she always was a beautiful Lady. God please be with the Hoppers help them with their grieving.
My grandma used to love when I would come over and visit with her because I loved to watch her Gaither Homecoming videos with her!

I kind of think that the word PERFORMANCE is not appropriate for these folks; they are in MINISTRY, to reach others for Christ. I understand that to go to some of these concerts costs like crazy, but I honestly believe that the musicians and singers are in business first and foremost to bring glory to the One who saved them from their sins and covered them in His crimson flow. But yeah Fred, it is a great performance for Jesus.
Jake, Jessy, Rex, so many greats on that stage. As they have passed on one by one, Southern Gospel music has gone the way of “country” music to me. It’s not the same anymore.

I wrote Shoutin' Time in January of 1988. The song has imbedded my favorite Negro Spiritual titled I Will Arise And Go To Jesus. Ivan Parker sang the song for his PhD musical recital since it goed back and forth between A minor and C major. The Hoppers admired the song and I gave them permission to record it.
I am upset that the copyright was stolen and the title of the song was changed. The original title was Shoutin' Time.
Had a TERRIBLE night at work... Put this song on and I can't help but feel my spirits instantly lifted.. What a difference it makes when you remember what God has done and rejoice in that!

I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. Today (January 19), I attended a funeral at a local Pentecostal Holiness Church for a man whose son & I graduated high school together. Sadly, his son died in May 1987. This man died January 1987. The choir sang this during the service. I miss you Earl and we're going to miss you, Mr. John.
