These are old school ‘ classical ‘ surgeons so they fear the deep plane. The results ok the jawline and neck contours seem superior with deep plane when the retaining ligaments are released and the lift sutured without tension . SMAS plication or SMAScetomy seems superior in the lower mid face and seem to give better results on older patients with wrinkling or with thicker skin patients who need tighter lifts . An alternative would be extended SMAS or high SMAS where the retaining ligaments are still released but can target the mid face better as well as doing a composite extended deep plane lift .
I don't know if this will make me seem crazy, but if I could afford surgery, I would be willing to take a risk for whatever will make me look less tired and ugly. I am almost 55 now and I feel so ugly. My skin just seems to be getting worse. I don't smoke or eat junk food. I did lose quite a bit of weight and am still losing, but the more I lose...the older I look and it makes me cry. I haven't worn make-up for three years, and I can't even look at myself In the mirror anymore. I have had nose and sinus surgery for damages from being attacked and beaten by a stranger and my nose still looks bad. I can breathe but I look awful.
Very useful info particularly with respect to the benefits and drawbacks of deep plane and SMAS facelifts. Thank you!
Brilliant interview with a calm , straightforward and articulate man 🎉

I feel ya dawg
So sorry.
I used to be a good looking woman! At 63 I had a facelift! Could n t stand the horror of sagging and wrinkles all over!
But doesn't deep plane last longer than SMAS only techniques? Or am I wrong?
I believe deep plane facelifts last longer than Smas lifts but my thinking is constantly changing and evolving.
Your guest keeps referring to plastic surgeons as “He”. There are many excellent female plastic surgeons. Otherwise, great discussion.
Of course! There are many amazing female plastic surgeons who are my colleagues.
Maybe for the first year, because everyone is swollen for the first year anyway.
